poida97, It was not the dealership that did it for nothing, Ford C.R.C. (Customer Relations Centre) picked up the bill from the dealer. You should ring them and see what they can do for you. Try and be adamant that you should not pay for it! P.S. Peter Warren - Warwick Farm where it was fixed.

This is more for those who's warranty has expired (like mine). I was excited to read this thread to find that a fix had been developed, so I immediately rang my local service dept to see if mine could be replaced - not too keen on having my car roll backwards down hills anymore!!! The service manager explanined there was a TSB for the handbrake, and as my warranty was expired it may cost me approx $300. In short I wasn't happy, he advised me to ring Ford Customer Relations Centre (133 673) and see what they could do. I explained how this was a common problem, my car had handbrake problems since new, and if Ford has gotten around to finding a solution to this problem any sooner than 4 years after the car's release then my car would've had this fixed in it's warranty period. After MANY phone calls to them and from them, they decided that they would foot the bill for it's replacement! Yay, a victory for the people. Had it replaced yesterday, and have tested it on some steep hils, and it holds. No audible shooshing - yet. Will post again if anything changes. So don't settle if your car is out of warranty, this fix has been a long time coming, as have a few other things.

Hey Camerooch, Had same prob as you, dealer dropped the tailshaft out, re-balanced it, put it back in - and hey presto!

Just gotta add though, I've been looking through the trading post, and have seen a 2002 'T' with 35,000km on the clock selling for $47,000. If people can't wait for 4 months for a new one, they'll be willing to pay anything!

Mondie, Do you find that the phantom colour does not really show up in photos. I've got one myself, and from the photos I've taken, you wouldn't know it if I didn't tell you. Seems to come out blue in some, black in others! I don't think it's my camera, coz the latest issue of MOTOR magazine has a review on a Phantom XR8, and you really can't see the same colour purple in any of their photo's! I know I'm not colour blind, coz I've had the tests done!
