  1. Good stuff buddy! and welcome to the best forums there is! Just be carefull with your mods, or you will end up stupid and scrounging any spare $$$ like the rest of us in here! I just hope you got the auto!
  2. Aha! I was wondering what that's for. I just mounted it the easiest way possible! Im not too sure how much condensation will build up given the area its located and the temp of the tranny cooler. Maybe if it was out the front somewhere. I'll leave it now as its working like a little champion, but if something stuffs up I'll change it on the next fan.
  3. I think that was for bands and cluches upgraded. No gearset re-tempering, Cervo work or high stall.
  4. not sure about the GTHO, but im pretty sure the next FPV will be a modified version of the 3 valve with forced induction anyway. They are going to stop making the 4 valve bosses as they are too expensive to build.
  5. Maybe overhaeated the box or somehow triggered the slip sensor? At least the code is logged and the dealer should tell you.
  6. Like I said, starts at about $1800 if you give them a perfect box, but not many of us have one of those left. I took mine out and put it back in myself and actually freighted the gearbox from Canberra to Melbourne, cause every one here has no f%$king idea. All in all, including oil and freight, but without installation I didnt get much change out of about $3400 with a written guarantee to hold up to 330rwkw. Next for me is Brakes, as the stockers are just not cutting it anymore! Fuel consumption is actually lower for the first 2 tanks since I have done the box. Dunno why?
  7. Its actually not really that different, I mean to describe it as simply as I can, you give it about half throttle and the car is revving hard under boost, it seems like the gearbox is slipping until you look at the speedo! Driving off the line isnt really a worry, the way its set up at the moment, the shifts get firmer the harder you stick your foot in it. I thought it would be a pain when they first suggested it, but knowing what its like to drive now im glad I spent the extra. It took 11.5 ltrs of oil to refill it since the converter and tranny cooler had to be filled, and at $260 for 20ltrs for tranzmax Z not a cheap exersize, but like I have promised muself from day one, if im gunna stuff around and mod this thing it will be the best quality available.
  8. Well, as the title said, the original thread http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...pic=23283&st=18 has had an awesome ending. With plenty of help from Geea, the guys at Kewish have everything sorted, with fantastic results. The gearbox had burnt the band, and smashed teeth off the gearset. After a full rebuild, including cervo and planetary replacement and modifications, a 2500 stall torque converter, bands, clutches etc etc, the result is great. Nice line shifts in drive, and firmer faster again shifts in performance mode, this upgrade has definately quenched my thirst for more speed. For anyone wanting their car to feel faster on the road, raise the "Auto upgrade" well up the ladder. I bet its taken about .5 seconds off the quarter time, that's if we had a friggen dragstrip in Canberra to test it on. One thing I have to do left is to get the converter settings in my edit increased to allow it to stall up to its full capacity, as since I had the shift settings returned to stock to try the box out initially, the "D" light flashes and the box goes into temporary limp mode if I try and stall it up above 2500rpm. But with a few clicks on the scaling on the tuners software I think it could be launched from 2800 , if I can ever afford good enough tyres to do it! all in all, highly recommended from here, and thanks to Geea for all his help throughout the entire process.
  9. I use magnatec 10w-40 in the engine and 11.5 litres of Tranzmax Z in the modded tranny. Works perfectly.
  10. Heres mine, fitted in front of the drivers wheel with a Davies Craig thermo fan on the front of it. Works well!
  11. Im a Member of the Pro utes ACT, I have seen pics of this ute, a few of our members have seen it in the flesh! Its got a WATER FEATURE set up in the back at show and shine events!!!!
  12. Got the same on my sheets to I had a ride in envy t car after nick finished Very good results Im not doubting the results, just that the dyno sheets are a waste of time reading if the calibrations and settings of the Vehicle actually on the dyno aren't set up. A lot of the info is a waste of time.
  13. Is there a reason the test date is the 18th of november 2005??? And 1086nm of torque, gotta be happy with that!
  14. Good stuff mate, Do you have a tranny cooler? Where did you fit it now with the bigger front mount, and intake pipe in the guard?
  15. Im pretty sure the planetary gears are taken out, and re-tempered so the metal is not as brittle. A few people (Inc myself) have broken or chipped the ends off the teeth on the planetaries, so this is something Kewish have done to eliminate the problem. By softening the temper of the gears slightly it makes them a little pliable, allowing them to flex instead of just chipping ofr snapping off. that's why Kewish are not the cheapest, but do a complete job.
  16. you got the best job in Australia!
  17. Update for today! Box is repaired all stuffed parts are upgraded and its been given the go light for 330rwkw, if I want to go there. Bill came to about $2650 Shes on the truck home as we speak, should have it back for the weekend!
  18. Ford could learn a lot from Kewish Autos. My box was finished and packed and sent today, with Dave telling me that the work he has performed is rated up to 330rwkw (actually its written on the receipt!) He also said that if my ute is up to or less than that level of power, the box (quote) " Will handle anything you can throw at it!" How good is that! Cant wait to get it in on friday!
  19. Its good fun,I cant believe you went all that way and did'nt take the ute Whats the GT got done to it? CYA JEFF Believe me mate, Kewish are doing their best on her, she will make it down sometime soon, The GT has Pacemaker headers, G+D airbox, Powerpipe and a tune from Bluepower. I think it makes 257 rwkw. Damo's 60 foot times were between 2.15 and avge about 2.2's. when his 60's get better with more practise, im sure he will see around 13.0's. I thing the Street fords photographer has a great photo of Damos GT and RMGT's car doing burnouts before they ran against each other!
  20. Oh I just wanted to add a few things! Congrats to MR Turbo forwinning the award for the "BEST FPV OR TICKFORD VEHICLE" at the FPV open day on sunday, even though its not an FPV or Tickford! I pissed myself laughing! And a big congrats to Chris from Bluepower for being so close to his record, running a 11.48 in that heat, and considering his 11.45 was on a much colder night, with the passenger seat removed, no tail gate and no exhaust! He will be in the 10's when the NOS is tuned!
  21. Well us Canberra boys just arrived home today, what a great weekend! The drags were a real eye opener for us, considering Damo and Matty had never run before. They learnt a lot, as did I without even having a car there! Damo ran the GT down in 13.5, and Mattys best time was a 13.6, so not too bad for a couple of novices! It was great to meet some of you guys, and be sure, we will be back in force, Im never going to the street drags again without my ute! Cheers!
  22. Talked to Dave the Master of Autos at Kewish today, unfortunately it wont be ready in time for me to get it in before the weekend! :hiwelcome: So the Mandarin Monster is staying home while Bec and I come to melb with XRTease and Spoonage! :hiwelcome: So do we need to put our names somewhere as support crew? Another thing, I mentioned to Chris from Bluepower racing, he's coming out and possibly bringing the fastest Boss in the country out too! If I can comfirm him tomorrow, maybe we can add his superchared beast to our list too?
  23. So, an upgraded actuator for something like my car would probably allow the boost to be mosre conststant? Instead of it kicking in at 15psi and tapering off to 9.5, It would hold a straighter line and be at say 14psi at 5500rpm? Thus increasing my top end power I guess. How many of you guys have upgraded the actuator without changing the valve springs if this is the case??
  24. Fark! You must be related to Gary Meyers burnout king or something??
  25. How much boost are you running at the moment?? Its about 15psi max, and tapers off to 9.5 @5900rpm I would think your tuner could hold 15psi throughout the rpm range... Higher than 9.5psi anyway on an xr6t. What was limiting your peak rpm power?? fuel?? Im pretty sure exhaust flow peaked thepower early though. Lucky for me, or It would have eaten the Auto many moons ago! 288rwkw around 3300rpm, its a nice ride on the street in my little ute though!
