  1. so I just have to find a way of getting him from sunny queensland, down to Canberra (with a top temp today of 10 degrees!) to do it huh?
  2. its a great thread actually, good job by the boys. Im about to undertake the same operation myself, its great to hear actual details instead of whinging about how much of a b**ch of a job it is (even though it is!) that's why these are the best forums!
  3. Thanks Muzza. I tried phoning the local Ford dealer here and they said they would not do it. Any spring/roller rocker issues they have, he said they get a complete new head from Ford! I asked if they would do this just for me and he said they dont even have the Ford tools to do it, so no. There is one guy in town here that has the Atomic tool, but im not sure if I trust his work. its a shame too, but At least if I have a crack myself, I know everything is done as correctly as possible and nothing is left to chance. Im going to give 1 more place a call in the morning, and if he quotes me more than $500 im getting the Atomic tool. Oh, and by the way, the standard springs in my car have what looks like an orange stripe on them? anyone know what this means?
  4. Well, pulled the rocker cover off, had a good look in there, and unfortunately all the spring tools that we had were designed to pivot off the camshafts. As anyone that's had a look in there knows, there is simply not enough room to get the rear 2 cylinders out with the cams still in. I need someone that's done these before to answer a few questions, 1) does the cam chain tensioner want to pop out once the cam gears are removed from the front of the camshafts? It looks like it will fall out into the front of the chain covers. Are the rachet controlled or hydraulical? 2) I read Eugenes guide, but how does he expect to turn the engine over if there is nothing but clumps of rag holding the cam chain and gears in position from the front??? We put it all back together for further evaluation!
  5. Im trying to get them sorted before saturday champ. Will be interesting to see the result, anyway. I have had the Nizpro springs kicking around for a while now, just havent had the time or courage to put them in!
  6. Hi Guys, Im about to undertake a valve spring install with my old and wise Mercedes mechanic mate on the trusty ute, but he insists on me getting him a few pics before we get into it. First, Does anyone have a pic of the valve stem and the spring retainers from an XR6T? Second, does anyone have a pic of the top of a standard XR6 turbo piston head? We are going to try and change the springs without removing the cams. Anyone done this before? Old Alfred has at least 20 different spring removal tools and little jigs he has made up over the years, im sure everything will work out ok. Wish me luck!
  7. maybe your stepping on it too hard before its fully warmed up?
  8. exactly, that's what I got too and it fitted straight in!
  9. sounds like its been mistreated to me. Wrong oil, poor oil or lack of would be the first things that would be the cause of it!
  10. where is it getting dyno'd jimmy? Not at that thieving old bastards again!
  11. Well done mate! Looks good! Its amazing your car isnt pinging its head off and running lean with that massive air flow gain from the intercooler and drop in exhaust pressure with the new exhaust! I would have thought it would be pinging its head off! Cooler looks good though!
  12. 315rwkw I think, depends on the tune. My car makes around 290rwkw, but makes about 275 @ about 3500rpm. It hasnt run down the quarter, but has a built Kewish box and stally, and is nice to drive on the street!
  13. I think the little CBR lacks the torque around the town that bigger bikes have, especially when learning to ride. RPM are a must with these things, saying that its hard to make them go slow in heavy traffic. The Baby Blades are very light, and below 6000rpm are pretty useless at pulling out of corners etc.
  14. they are all 250cc right? If you are on your learners mate, you will be sorry to know that the rs250 is not legal for learners, due to the power to weight rule! (more than 150kw per tonne!) I went through the same thing a few years ago, the RS 125 is just too small. Ended up buying a CBR250RR, absolute little cracker of a bike. 190km/h top speed, 19,200rpm redline, all less than 160kg, its harder to ride than most bigger bikes! I bought the Tri colour, see pic.
  15. there is prob an exact post on the wrx forums about some1 with a xr6 turbo trying to cut his lunch ← start with a topic named ' Which one of you c*nts has a misses with T I T S like this?
  16. Danno, Can you call past my place on the way to dropping her over, I need her number for a good mate. ← No worries mate!
  17. Maybe we should get on the WRX forums, cut and paste this entire thread and see if we can get to the bottom of things for Daz, what do ya's recon??
  18. now Daz isnt even here! Maybe she phoned! Naa, actually I'll just get the WRX out of the shed and drop her over!
  19. Just a usefull question Daz, How long was she with the Ex and do you know why they broke up in the first place???
  20. 15 members reading this topic, great stuff!
  21. Yes, well, you certainly wouldnt kick her out of bed if she farted! Just the thought of what her ex is doing to her while your here tapping the keys would make me wanna shoot him!
