Its an interesting problem, wondering where it all ends. I have a custom made timber furniture business and we retail our own built products in our own store. The idea of anyone in our industry trying to match China's production is well beyond the physical and financial capabilities of anyone in this country. Plenty of sucessfull aussie furniture manufacturers, such as Parker and Chiswell, have gone by the wayside. Even leading furniture manufacturers in the last 10 years have closed down their operations here, choosing to keep the top 10 staff out of several hundred, sent the guys to china to train the 2000 or so employees they can buy for the cost of their two hundred or so here. In a majority of furniture shops in China, the employees live at the factory, in dormatorys, eat at the factory cafeteria, all as part of their job. They work an average of 11 months continuous, then get handed their 11 months pay in one hit, and go back to their respective families and provinces for 4 weeks. Australian timber mills send Aussie native hardwood over to China by the boatload, including Tassie Blackwood, Victorian Oak and Jarrah. Some of it even in log form, as it fell, as it is much cheaper for the Chinese to do any sawing and kiln drying process in China. The logs are then made into furniture by any one of the many before mentioned setups that are "Australian owned" company in China, and shipped back here as finished furniture. So, this is now sold as Australian Timber furniture, by Australian Manufacturers. But this is not made in Australia, Check out any Harvey Norman Catalogue. All we do to combat all this, is the F1-11 story, where we build the absolute best stuff we possible can with our own abilitys, and let the scabs try and catch us.!! Tell me the Last time you seen a Chinese furniture compant build one orf these River Redgum Beauties!???

Thought I would call upon you guys for some answers. How much difference is there in engine components in an N/A engine as to a XR6T engine. In my understanding, the following things could be used in both engines, or used to build an XR6T engine. Feel free to add to this or correct me if im wrong- -Block, -Sump (maybe needs a oil pickup for the turbo??) -Crank -Head Itself (perhaps valve guides and seats are a little different for the t??) -Complete VCT setup (gears etc) -Cams and cam cradles (Perhaps the T has different camshafts??) -Rocker Cover -Lower intake manifold -Sensors (crank angle sensors etc) -Oil Pump Is there anything else, feel free to add more or correct me if im wrong.

Id say then perhaps you still have a boost leak. Did you change all the claps from spring type to screw type, including the bastard one on the bottom of the turbo itself?? Theres surely better people qualified to make an opinion on your results than I am mate. Do you have a dyno printout showing the boost at all?
-
Na, I didnt say it was sh*t, just cant see it on the scale. I think theres supposed to be 2 worms on the graph mate, and I could only see one for some reason???
-
Is that from a different dyno mate?
-
That Dyno graph is absolutely hopeless! Not your fault, just the dyno operator should have reset the scales to give you a more detailed result before printing your read out! I cant see the AFR's, and the power scale is set way too high!

Will be interesting to see how they have dealt with water getting in!

Hey, I justy noticed this thread! You could have asked me to stop friggin around in the back of my ute before you took the shot!

The wank from Newcastle is just jealous mate. Im sure if there were 7 blokes running in the 9's, one of us would definately know about it! Not even if the were running a G-Tech off a cliff!
-
Yeah, Im with you, the first two werent too bad, the speediness one is just stupid!
-
If they are going to the trouble of building an aussie car, why cant they build what the aussies want??? I mean, at 200rwkw n/a, its not bad, but until its a realistic rear wheel drive performancxe car, none of us here would be at the slightest bit interested.

well, theres a BF phoon in HgAg in our club, just get on the website and send an email and see what happens!!!
-
Looks the goods mate! The wheels work real well with that colour too!
-
I gather you have someone lined up. Our car club always get offers to do weddings, formals etc. Check us out at www.fpvxrclubact.com.au

Good one Adam, You should have cut that Centre muffler out while you were there! It will take you a little to get used to the "whirr" noise from your new fuel pump, but its worth it!

Good topic. I think it depends on the situation that you are in when someone asks. If your standing in the street and someone points at your car sitting there in full street trim, daily driver, then asks "What does it run?", then the correct answer would be to point at it and say "as it sits right there, I can get 12's. I have had it weight stripped at the drags and it has ran an 11 though." Im going to the drags in a few weeks, I will run my first couple of runs as it is, since I have never even ran it before. Once im comfortable, tyres will be changed, tailgate off, spare out and make the sucker get to the other end as fast as it possibly can. Its drag racing, not street racing we are talking about.

I know there's a couple of company's that are doing stroker kits for the 6ltr LS2's, stroking out to 7 ltrs. what power/times do they pump out?
-
No, but you will be able to buy a Twin Turbo V6 Commodore, and do it.. And that is where the competition for a 'T' will lie. All Ford have to worry about is getting a V8 to match the New VE, the T can look after it's self.. For me, the new VE is a good looking car, and a pretty big step forward.. A nice responsive TTSS will be a good package.. ← I think the hardest thing for Ford to do is to bring out another model that can match the impact of the BA. Hopefully we will never see another AU type advancement. Im not sure if the little V6 will handle twin turbos that well, but it will be interesting to see if Expensive Daewoo do something like that. Will only make Ford think a little harder, and that can only be good for us!!!
-
they can build what ever they like, but its gunna be a long time before you can buy a V8 commodore, spend $2000 odd on it and make over 400 rwhp like you can in a phoon. They will be licking the phoons arse for a while to be yet.

I have heard a few reports from various performance workshops that TCE converters are the ducks guts. Anyone had anything to do with them, and do they make anything for the 4 speed Ba gearbox??
-
Hi Mel, Welcome to the forums!!! Now you will be able to keep a better track of the sort of lunatics your husband has to deal with!!! Your car looks killer, and I think the wheels you have chosen will suit it well. As far as your bonnet protector, I actually bought a clear one, then took it to my local paint shop and asked them to spray the inside of it the same as my car. Cost me $60 for the protector and $50 to get it sprayed, but it comes up excellent. Enjoy the beast! Cheers- Dannopower

Id say as a rule, the day you fit injectors, start saving for the gearbox upgrade.

I would love to see what they have done to that tranny to hold 450rwkw from a drag launch!
-
Go the mandarin turbo utes! Awesome mate! Seems we have a bit in common, Mandarin XR6T Utes, Big Wheels, Power upgrades (even if I'm 100+rwkw down!) and CRAP BRAKES!!!

I noticed a thread about you guys organizing a possible good buy on some MT's for the VBWII. Just wondering a few things, Did you end up with a super deal from anywhere? Do the 275 40r17 fit ok on the XR 17 inch wheels? or am I better off buying some 16 inch rims and tyres? Does a standard XR 17 inch wheel with 275 40r17's fit ok on the rear of a BA GT? There is a few of us from Canberra heading down to launch an attach on the AFF drag nationals, on the 9th of Sept at Heathcote. We know nothing about drag racing really, but im hoping to run a 12 on my first ever run down the strip, that's if nerves dont get to me first!!! Cheers Guys!
