  1. Hey all, I was looking for some advice. I have over the past year returned my BA MK2 XR6 TURBO UTE back to standard as the wanker who sold it to me obviously flashed the cars tune to standard to be cheap and sell the X3 before I got it yet left all the mods on the car. I have everything pretty much back to standard but I have a Turbosmart 5psi actuator(adjustable), now when I drive it comes onto boost well but after about 3500rpm boost seems to fade out and power drops. I was wondering if 5 psi if okay as the standard actuator?, I have read on turbosmart's site they recommend their 7psi as a direct factory replacement but isn't 7 psi too much for a standard tune?. I was also wondering where the vacuum line from the blow off valve nipple goes into?. Thank you
  2. Are you sure the '"jerking" isn't overboost? my ute had a CAI and a few other mods with standard tune which caused overboost and cut at about 5,000 Rpm. You should also have a good look at your turbo studs\nuts and exhaust/inlet manifold bolts as they are notorious for loosening or falling off altogether. If you have done any exhaust mods or intake mods without a tune your turbo/wastegate may not be able to control boost and once your ecu senses too much boost your engine will stutter/hiccup to prevent engine damage which I think is called "boost cut". Might be something completely different but this is something that you should check if all else fails.
  3. Hello I am writing in the hopes to get some advice on returning my 2004 MK2 XR6 Turbo ute to stock as with a baby on the way I cannot afford to finish the build and would like to drive it which I cannot in its current form without a tune (nearest decent tuner is 6.5 hours away). Due to the car over boosting I fitted new 60lb injectors, modified turbo, earls fuel line, new nizpro turbo stud kit and turbosmart actuator to the old mods it had which were 3.5inch turbo back exhaust, plazmaman stage 1 piping kit and second air intake in box which assisted the pod filter. I also had it tuned with my X3 flash tuner to 12 psi with 60lb injector scaling(generic tune so only drove it once and was waiting for a dyno tune). Due to me taking a long time to receive and fit the parts my battery went completely dead and I just had a few questions about it. 1) If I put a new battery in how can I return the vehicle to standard tune so I can sell the X3 Flash and injectors? (I will put the stock injectors back in of course). 2 )Will the turbosmart actuator work well if I just use the 5 psi spring? 3) What is a reasonable price for the as new condition X3 Flash tuner and 60lb siemens injectors as I paid $1275 inc freight? (the tuner has 3 tunes pre-programmed from BP racing). 4) What would be a reasonable asking price for a 2004 XR6 MK2 Turbo Ute with 6 speed manual in black, leather seats, lowered with hardcover that is immaculate and only has 90,000 original Kms on the clock?. If anyone here has an original crossover intake setup in new condition and would like to swap for my plazmaman I have it up on gumtree. I will also be swapping the 3.5inch turbo back exhaust with high flow cat plus cash my way for the original setup. Any advice will be really appreciated. Thanks
  4. They are inconnel studs with glen-loc s/steel nuts and s/steel multi layer gasket. I though while the turbo was off I'd spend the money and do everything properly but I thought $212.00 was alot to pay as well.
  5. I added the pic in my av/photo as it seemed like the easiest way
  6. I'm having trouble putting a photo on here. I think I spoke to you a while ago about trouble I was having with my turbo on the forum. I removed my old turbo and found cracks in 3 of the turbo exhaust housing bolt holes so I bought a replacement turbo from ebay that come off a typhoon ute, the seller stated that it had been ported with upgraded flapped but the wastegate hole looks to be unmodified although the flapper is upgraded and has a tag. I took the original turbo off about 3-4 months ago and now want to put it all back together. A few specific questions I have: Do I need to lock 2 nuts on the turbo/exhaust manifold studs to install them tightly? and does the same apply for the exhaust/ dump pipe to turbo studs? Should I use locktite/sealant on any areas upon installing the turbo? (I noticed some sealent on the oil return line from the turbo to the sump). I understand that the turbo runs very high temperatures, I am installing an Earls oil supply line with filter and was wondering if any loctite should go on the new oil line connection threads that go into the turbo body. Although I have searched on the forums I cant find a good step by step on re-installing the turbo. I really appreciate any info/tips on the re-installation.
  7. Can anyone please give me any tips on fitting the Nizpro kit, it has 4x s/steel studs, 1x turbo gasket and 4x lock nuts. The kit was $212.00 and I dont want to screw it up. Also any info on re-installing the turbo in regards to sealent use would be great.
  8. Got a qoute from Simon from NIZPRO today ao port turbo housing and fit new actuato(changeover)r, $780 excluding freight. I think I will try hyper gear as their prices are in my league at the moment. I'm sure NIZPRO are really good but I can't justify nearly $900 to port the turbo including freight.
  9. I will order the whole drop in tank setup with a walbro pump now that I read the how to fit pump thread on here, because it's a ute I will be drilling some of the spot welds to get to the tank and then re-riveting them. I can get the portingand larger flapper done by a place called Hyper gear for about 280-300 with postage including removong the exhaust housing, does that sound like a good idea or are there better places to get the turbo ported.
  10. I have a new oil feed line with an Earls filter coming in the post, Turbo and car have done 90,000kms.I have a 12psi turbosmart actuator already that I will fit when I get the turbo back. Once the turbos back on will trailer it to get a dyno tune. The Nizpro kit manifold stud set comes with a s/steel gasket for turbo/exhaust manifold so I might put that on when I refit it in the hopes that I get a better seal. The car has exhaust, big intercooler, x3 flash tuner, Plazmaman intake pipework to pod filter, big cat and will have ported turbo with 12psi actuator. I'm holding off on valve springs untill I can get some funds going so will be happy with 260-270kw at the wheels for awhile.
  11. I loaded that tune so the car would run with the new injectors and I could drive the car up the car trailer im using to take it to the tuner 3 hours away, I couldn't resist taking it down the road and back though after spending abit of time and money on it
  12. I'm in Port Lincoln SA. Yeah I left the manifold on the motor. I have undone the 6 bolts that hold the exhaust side housing brackets and the housing is stuck solid.I really don't want to hit it hard with a hammer in fear of damaging something internally. If you think this is too dificult I might just send the whole turbo off I think they only charge an extra $30 to seperate it I just wanted to avoid all the extra weight in freight. Do you have to fit the turbo/exhaust manifold studs after the turbo is back on because the bracket that comes up from the mount and is bolted to the bottom 2 turbo/exhaust manifold looks like it has to stay on. Thanks for the help I really appreciate this I was a light engine mechanic 10 years ago and have just started playing around with the hobby again but have no experience what so ever with turbo's and honesly the thought of doing something wrong, leaning out and destroying the engine scares the s#$t out of me.
  13. I spent the last few hours removing my turbo, I have it out now but can't seperate the exhaust housing to send it off. I have looked everywhere from this site to google and can't find any info on seperating the turbo. Does anyone on here have experience rebuilding the gt35??? any info would be gold right now.
  14. I like the look of the valve on ARRONM's car but If I ever had an ignorant police officer check under my bonnet I would be willing to bet 70% of the police around here would say it must be a big aftermarket B.O.V and defect me. I don't even know if my Plazmaman pipework is legal.
  15. Yeah I think I might go the way of porting I've gone this far and I have to fit 4 new turbo/exhaust manifold studs anyway after spending $212 for 4 studs,4 nuts and a s.steel gasket from Nizpro.
