Guys, Local Ford Dealership has new 2014 FG II XR6Ts for a drive away price of $39,990, and FGX XR6T for $45,800. (drive away) You guys think I can push the FG Mark II down to 35K drive away...??

Not aware at all...surprised the Ford dealer didn't mention this also...so basically I should give the dealership a call and mention this? -
Slow Speed Knock/rattle In Rear End Of Fg
boost69 replied to ello678's topic in Suspension and Handling
Not sure if it's relavent...I have BF Mark II XR6T with Bilsteins allround...the car had that rear end knock before the Bilsteins, and continued to have it after the Bilsteins.(no effect on the knocking) Also have an FG XR6T, and that has the same rear end passenger side knock...(there are times when this really gets on your nerves, especially when your driving on Parramatta Rd) I still have warranty on this car, and it has gone into Ford numerous times for this issue...the cradle has been pulled out numerous times too...all diff bushes have been replaced...in the end they even replaced my rear passenger side shock..and they still can't figure it out. They acknowledge that the knock is there...but they can't find what is physically causing it... Not to state the obvious, but this an inherent problem with the B and F series rear end set up...(even just looking at it from a diff bush perspective...let alone the knocking)... It might be out of left field, but I have heard if the wheel hub isn't to exact tolerences, then that extra slack can cause a knock over mild bumps...(I realise I'm clutching at straws here...) -
Just had a look online... 1/14 dark blue with around 70K on the clock went for $19,750...(could be wrong on this one as there two blue ones one got withdrawn) 8/13 white with around 80K on the clock went for $19,750 12/13 white with around 80K on the clock went for $19,500 2/14 white with around 85K on the clock went for $22,700 8/14 white VF SS 80k $28,500 6/14 white VF SS 84k $27,500

Prices I have gotten for a standard rebuild, range from 3 to 5K. The last quote I got was between 3.5 to 4K...apparently this guy does allot of work for the Ford Dealerships... He was saying something about putting better "self lubricating" bushes...and he uses brand new solenoids too...(apparently others use refurbushished or second hand...)...Oh and he uses genuine ZF oil... He mentioned some other stuff too, but I had no idea what this guy was talking about, but it did sound quite impressive though...lol

I will let you know what things go for today...auction is at 9:30am. Though I can tell you definitivley that the price of the FG II XR6T has been going up over the last six months... Im thinking it must be the lower interest rates, so people aren't as price sensitive... A bit over six months ago, white marked ones were going for around 18 to 19K with roughly 80K kms on the clock give or take 5K kms each way. Clean "country" coloured unmarked ones were hitting around the 20 - 21K mark. Currrently the white ones are hitting around the 21-22K mark, and the nice coloured ones have been hitting 23K-24k...(all have around 80K kms on the clock) I'm a fan of the ex chasers, but when you way up the condition of some of these cars and the amount of kms...the're not as good value as they were...I think everyone has jumped on the bandwagon...and prices have just gone up. The thing is if everyone calmed down with the bidding, the cars would go much cheaper as the State Govt can't just sit there and hold onto these cars, they have to flog them off... I actually can't see the State Govt losing all that much money on these cars, considering the discounts they get form Ford etc...and the use they get out of them...

Hmmm...I was at the government ausctions on Saturday, checking out some FG Mark II and VF SS Commodores...as much as I love the FG...after sitting in the SS...the Falcon felt very dated inside... It is a bit conflicting, as the XR6T is a faster car, but sitting in the SS, you felt like you were sitting in a car that was very up to date, in regards to interior refinement and electronic gadgetry...though it is a pitty they haven't applied much technology to the engine, still pushing the pushrods... If they ever came out with a twin turbo V6 I think it would be convinved to make the purchase...
-
Guys, Don't mean to hyjack the thread, but can someone describe what they mean by flaring...does it feel like a slip?...like the revs go up between gear changes...
-
Yeah that's what I would have thought...so why not just flog them off...
-
Lol...35K is a bit too optimisitc isn't it...
-
Yeah I have noticed on car sales there isn't such a big difference in price between the FG II and FGX, I would have thought 35K should get you in an FGII, especially since it's not the current model anymore... Im also thinking they wouldnt really be moving too many...
-
Guys, Just curious as to what drive away prices people have paid for the current model FGX XR6T, and possibly the FG II. Has anyone come across any good deals on new FG Mark II XR6Ts, that are just sitting in car yards and not really moving? Am I wrong to assume you should be able to get a really good deal on new FG II XR6Ts...since the new model is out?

I bit the bullet and ended up buying the Injector Dynamic ones, just need to find the time to book it in for the tune... -

Yeah I know...that's why I havn't been pushing the car until I get a proper diagnoses, from someone that knows our cars inside out.
-
The thing is I'm reluctant to take it back to the same tuner, as everyones opinion on here was that he should have solved my pinging problem prior to custom tuning the car. I would have to agree with this, but from what I know, taking it to another tuner means they have to start a new tune from fresh...(which I guess I'm going to have to bight the bullet on this one). I'm just not sure on who take it to in Sydney, though since im going to get another tune I have also purchased those ID1000s injectors, and was also contemplating wether to upgrade the fuel pump at the same time...(unless you guys think its not needed) To be honest I also don't know what seperates an average tuner from a good tuner. I want a tune that provides good part throttle boost response and not just WOT response. We had a BA XR6T previosuly which was making around the 350RWK mark, but unless you gave it a boot full it was quiet lazy down low in every day conditions...(the car delivered its power like an on off switch...it was either all or nothing...which I suppose is good for the strip but not very useful for every day driving)
-
Yes I did..you think it could be tune related?
-
Assuming you just change the in tank pump to a much higher flowing one, will you need a retune?...(assuming you're keeping the stock regulator) Just want to know if I should be upgrading the pump at the same time as the injectors.
-
Hmmm...I can't recall wether I let the pump prime for a couple of seconds before I started it. I will keep note next time I start it in the morning. Also one of the times it was just kicking over and not starting, it actually backfired...(this was before I changed the catalytic converter...not sure if this makes any difference)
-
Guys, I have noticed my BF has trouble firing up when you start it up in the morning. Yesterday it had to crank for a while, before it finally fired up. After the first start for the day, it starts normally all day after that. The cranking doesn't sound drained, so im assuming the batery has juice, but im not sure where to start in relation to diagnosing the problem. Are hard starts usually a fuel pressure problem...I.e old and fatigued fuel pump?...(which might explain why my car was pinging when it was stock)... Or should I be looking at timing issues, such as skipped teeth etc... Any suggestions are appreciated.
-
Hmmm. to fart, or not to fart...that is the question
-
Guys, Just curious as to wether the same spark cut out you get inbetween gear changes on the FG when giving it a boot full can be tuned into a BF. Im quite sure on the FG you can tune it out and vise versa, but are you able to get this done to a BF? I'm assuming this will help with tranny longevity?

Injector Dynamics Fuel Injectors
boost69 replied to boost69's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Out of curiosity...is there any downside to the Injector Dynamics injectors, appart from price? Taking price out of the equation, are there any other "functional" reasons why you wouldn't buy these injectors?
