I'm quite sure the B series mats don't go into the G series (as in it won't be a perfect moulded fit)...even the genuine Ford ones are not good quality anymore...they used to be decent...and then I remember when I had to get replacement ones, the guy at the parts desk said that Ford was using someone else to make their floor mats and the quality had changed...he was right..the newer ones seem thinner and have a tendency to crease exactly where you foot sits at the accelerator pedal...and once it creases there...you can't get it out...it's very annoying...

Yeah the R8 II with the supercharged LSA engine would definitely be a nice car to drive... I have driven quite a few rental SV6 VFs and as far technology and refinement goes, they are a really nice car... If I can compare the SV6 to the XR rental cars I have driven...the SV6 seems zippier down low, but doesn't feel as torquey as the XR on the HWY... The Late model camira is a much nicer car to drive, as you feel like you're in a very up to date car...while the Falcon feels like it's a generation behind... If the Late model camira V6 ever came out with a twin turbo motor, I dare say it would have had the same cult following as the XR6T...

Really??...didn't realise the cat was so restrictive...

Out of curiosity, how much PSI will a high flow cat add through the rev range?...(assuming no tune was done to accommodate it...) I mean where it was boosting at 10PSI at a certain rev range, will it now boost at 12PSI?...or will it be much more than that?

Overboosting Help Please ! , Please Help Before A Piston Comes Out
boost69 replied to sam1994's topic in Turbo Workshop
I was told by a reputable tuner that you really couldn't do much damage to the car because it would it go into limp mode (car was stock standard)...but to be honest I didn't go around planting it, when it was in this condition... I did get the tuner to change the actuator, and I was told turbo came off to change the actuator... -
Overboosting Help Please ! , Please Help Before A Piston Comes Out
boost69 replied to sam1994's topic in Turbo Workshop
My stock BF had the same problem, the cause was a leak in the waste gate actuator diaphragm. It went much harder than stock till it hit the boost cut out, and then it was limp mode... I found that loosening the clamps on the inlet hose at the throttle body kept the boost just under the cut out...(this was a temporary solution till the waste gate actuator was changed) -
Fg Xr6T Mk2 Bad Fuel Consumption
boost69 replied to luke.a's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
In my experience, both my BF II XR6T and FG XR6T sit around the 14.5 mark, mostly driven in congested Sydney traffic...from my experience I don't think 14s is all that unreasonable... -
Guys, Got another mechanic to go over my car, in relation to the rear end knocking, and he couldn't see anything obvious either. This mechanic does do allot of mechanical work for taxis, so they have seen allot of suspension issues, and the only thing he could see that could possibly be causing that knock over bumps is the trailing arm bush. Apparently when the rubber cracks or wears, it can cause a knocking noise... What do you guys think?...

Guys, Had a bit of drag today off the traffic lights with some "hot shot" that pulled up on my left with like 20 meters of road for him to either make it or break it... Obviously I wasn't going to give up my pole position so I gave it a bit of a squeeze, but that dreaded axle tramp cut in again... Even though I have taken the car to Ford numerous times for this issue they still can't solve it... Just curious as to whether other FG XR6T sedan owners get the same axle tramp as myself... They also still can't figure out why the left rear end is still knocking, and I can confirm that the left rear end is where I feel it tramping...(It's like something is loose on the left rear)...the Ford guys cannot figure this out, they even changed a shock but this had absolutely no effect on the symptoms...

Hi Flow Cat Or Deleted Cat Converter...b Series
boost69 replied to camdawgs's topic in Exhaust Workshop
For a couple of hundred dollars you might as well get an aftermarket high flow cat...(drive in, drive out, roughly $250 to $350 depending on the cat from my experience)... Though getting a high flow cat also means you will have to get a tune, which means more dollars there too... Maybe try and find a stock cat from the wreckers...but from what I have seen, genuine cats from the wreckers cost as much as after market high flow cats...but at least you won't need to get a tune...(I'm assuming the whole purpose is to spend as little as possible on the car...) -
I would still check your engine mounts
-
Could also be engine mounts...being a BA...your turbo side engine mount should be fried by now...(unless it has been changed already...)
-
Imagine the chicks you would get, if they seen you getting in and out of the car "Dukes of Hazzard" style...Chick magnet hard!!!...I would even contemplate painting an 01 on the door and the confederate flag on the roof...

-
Hmmm...yeah I see that makes sense...I seen those plastic spot welds and they have come apart...so I definitley need another door skin?
-
LOL...you made a mess of that...lol... Do I need a whole new door trim you reckon?
-
Guys, Had to replace my drivers side mirror as someone hit it while my car was parked. I pulled off some of the drivers door trim including the two bolts that are located in the grab handle, in order to get to the lower screw that holds the mirror. When I went to do up the grab handle bolts I noticed when they were tightened the grab handle has allot of play in it and is not sitting flush on the door trim. It looks like the grab handle has come away form the rest of the door trim...anyone experienced this before?...possibly while changing the actuator?

I appreciate the answers guys, I'm not going to try and pretend I know something when I don't, which is why I ask these questions...(as silly as they might sound)... I suppose if you gain some knowledge, then you can have input and ask relevant questions when you are getting your car tuned, rather than dropping your car off getting it tuned then picking it up... The way "Womend Bellbat" describes the power delivery is exactly what I'm after...
-
I realise it's not going to give me the down low punch of my FG, but is it unrealistic of me to expect some type of low down responsiveness from a tuned BF XR6T?
-
Guys, when getting a custom tune is it possible to tune the car so it is much more responsive down low in the rev range...(as I have found that once you boost a B series T it just seems very laggy...) From my experience with a BA XR6T we had previously, it was making just shy of 350RWK but was quite laggy off boost...didn't really enjoy driving it most of the time, as you really had to give it the boot for it to come alive...but this isn't practical for street use... For instance I don't mind how the boost cuts in with the standard BF...and even on part throttle you still feel that confident urge come on with what little boost its applying... Do tuners only tune for wide open throttle applications?...what about part throttle response...just curious...
-
Lol…yeah I agree…cars and chics…no matter how well you treat them, they’re always unpredictable…lol
-
PhilMeUP, Thanks mate, that was very informative, though your running commentary made me chuckle at times...it was like as you were pulling apart your car...there was a side of you thinking "OMG WHAT I HAVE DONE"...lol... Mate the intercooler I have has some engraving underneath like yours, is this normal? Or by chance do we have the same cooler??
-
Ok I will bolt it on, thanks for the advice... Can I get away with pulling off the grill and the splash tray under the bumper to install this FPV unit? Or does the bumper need to come off regardless...
