  1. Noise is there fromt idle............ Looks like I might have to take into Ford and see what they have to say...
  2. Drive an 04 auto xr6t with exh, k&n and flasher. The other night whent to give it a bootfull and it missfired and spluttered and then this tapping noise started from the motor. Ive had a vl turbo which I had spun a bearing on, and im quite concerned that the xr6t might have spun a bearing also. I think its unlikely as the car didnt manage to really rev hard but I cant think of anything else it could be as the car still drives ok. I know sometimes a spun bearing can last for while but I cant think of anything else (such as valve spring etc....as this would affect the way the motor runs...) Has anyone come across the same prob ? Your input is appreciated.
  3. Just wondering if anyone knows if the NSW Police are going to get the 6 speed box on their BF XR6 Turbos. As this might be a cheap way of getting your hands on one depending on the condion ofcourse. If they start comming through the govt auctions going for mid 20s with 40kms on the clock and premium brakes they might be a viable option.
  4. http://www.fowles.com.au/auctions/lot.aspx...&Number=1857525 http://www.fowles.com.au/auctions/lot.aspx...&Number=1857296 The ex chasers are worked hard and weve had ex hwy patrol cars which weve bought from auction for years now admitedly they were commodores ranging from the vk 5.0l vn 5.0l vr 5.0l and these cars have proven to be quite bullet proof as we drive our cars very hard weve actualy still got the vn which we use as a spare car and that thing in standard form can still be a nuisance to alot of current performance cars. On the last purchase we looked at the chaser xr6ts and we found it very hard to find one that had a decent paint job and that generaly didnt look like it had been abused. Very hard to find one that you will be satisfied with so we ended up buying an ex lease car with 20kms on the clock ad that thing still looks feels and smells brand new. Im looking to buy another one now and im finding that the price difference between an ex lease and ex chaser isnt that great but the difference in condition of the two is quite vast. The chasers come with the premium brake package and most are comming out with reverse sensors, alloy spare wheel, fire extinguisher, and some extra wiring harnesses and recalibrated speedos. As far as engine mods go I dont thing they have any engine mods done at all unless they have a minor performance flash program but that wouldnt make too much of a diff to performance as it would be a subtle tweek up. The myths about ex chasers being worked is an old one but from my experience appart from brake upgrades and minor interior tweaks the mods are very minor. This is mainly due to cost and the fact that ex chasers are turned over usualy every year as they tend to reach their 40kms turnover rate well within the 2 year changeover period. In the States where they keep them longer hence they tend to do more mods to them. Back to the ex chaser xr6t issue also be weary that abuse of turbo and bearing wear (ie cold thrashings etc...) will tend to effect long term life of the turbo so there is a good chance that things will stuff up after the warranty is expired. Also note that the transmision cops a beating to as I have a couple good cop friends who tell me they always use the shifter while driving and tend to keep it in low gear in order to be able to control speed and pick acceleration. Over all you are not likely to have a huge dramas with an ex chaser in the short term but there is an increased chance you will have probs in the long run especialy with a turbo (V8s tend to be able to cope much better with a beating) But there is also a chance that this car might give you hassle free driving for 10 years as the ex hwy patrol comms weve had. I pesonaly will consider buying an ex chaser only if it was going for 5k less than an equivalent non ex chaser turbo. You buy ex chasers for value.......
  5. Ive been following the market. 07/04 black auto xr6t 20,000kms $26,400 stock immaculate 07/04 silver auto xr6t 38,000kms $25,200 " " 03/04 mercury silver auto 43,000kms $24,400 " " These are what they are going for at Pickles auctions in Sydney (these are not ex chasers) Fowles auctions in Moorebank Sydney sell alot of ex hwy patrol and you can usualy get a white mark II for around 25k with the premium brake package.Very hard to find one with a decent paint job though as most have faded bonnets due heat build up whil idling.
  6. I noticed the same type of power delivery onthe 10 psi program though the car was missing under full load so I guess spark plu regapping will be necessary
  7. Guys these cars are going on auction next Tuesday they have pre auction prices as listed but when they actualy go to auction they gor for around 3k less than the actual pre auction listed price. http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130 http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130 http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130 http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130 http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130 http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130 http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130 http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130 http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX130
  8. http://www.fowles.com.au/auctions/lot.aspx...&Number=1832729 Guys this one example of an ex chaser going for auction on tuesday next week this will fech 25k maximum
  9. All these dealers just buy from The govt auctions and resell at a premium. If hes selling that 25k he wouldve bought it from the govt auctions at around 22k.Even the Mark IIs are fetching with 40kms 25k a the auctions
  10. Guys if your after an ex chaser I would fo to fowles govt auctions in moorebank.you can get 04 models with 40-50kms with the premium brake package for around 25k.Its just a bit difficult trying to find one with an ok paint job as most have dull bonnets and misclelaneous scratches. Dull bonnets would be due to the prolonged periods of time they spend idling the heat build up under the bonnet just cooks the paint.
  11. that's a NSW spec HWY patrol car if it comes with pbr premium brake package the mark II chasers also have reverse warning sensors also have the extra interior reading light and a 17" alloy spare wheel rather than those tight ass black wheel ones and will also have extra wiring and plugs in engine bay which you will notice near the brake master cylinder.
