Curious to see if there will be a buyer frenzy over the first FGXT, hitting Pickles Auctions next week... http://www.pickles.com.au/cars/item/-/details/CP-01-15--Built-01-15--Ford--Falcon--FG-X-XR6-Turbo--Sedan--5-Seats--4-Doors/2103153650

Guys, Just for the record in case someone else encounters the same problem, I got the old man to take the car to a place that does allot of taxis, and the guy knew straight off the bat what the problem was. Got part of the steering column replaced, and kept same keys etc...exchange price was around the $450 mark. (12 month or 20,000KM warranty) I did notice a seller on ebay doing exchange columns for around $175, if people are keen on DIY...

woz84, I think you hit the nail on the head...as I spoke to Chris Herrod this morning, and he reckons that if the battery has low voltage the flash tuner won't tune back to stock. The car has had difficulty starting, so I'm inclined to think it is the battery causing the problem. I have a spare Optima D75/25 laying around so I might install that into the car.

Yeah exactly...it's on acceleration and release...
-
Yeah it does...

Guys, I went to flash the BF XR6T back to stock in anticipation of taking it to the local mechanics for some work, and the SCT wasn't able to flash back to stock...it came up with some error. (it's definitely paired to this vehicle) I have three tunes on the SCT device; Race Tune Street Tune Low Boost Tune Has anyone come across this problem?

Inside A Highway Patrol Car: The Technology Fitted To Every Nsw Police

I have seen that FGX Turbo on the M7 and on the M4...It has that big dome on the roof with the camera... -
Lol...it's funny how we accept these things aye...is it because the price and performance of these cars makes up for these little gremlins you have to deal with?

Guys, Sometimes when I give it the boot and then back off suddenly I can feel diff backlash. Is this normal? The car has been jacked up and there is a bit of play when you turn the tail shaft. As in there is a bit of play before the diff engages and turns the wheels. Car is still under warranty, not sure what Ford would do to fix the problem short of changing the diff...

Not that I'm an expert, and I'm just as disappointed in the resale value of the Falcon as anyone else...I'm thinking the general sale price would be around 5K (with around 200K on the clock)...maybe squeeze 1 to 2K more out of someone due to the low kms... I'm talking realistic sell price...to a non enthusiast market... Trade in value might be a bigger slap in the face, they will probably give you 1 to 2K... You might be better off keeping it...instead of giving it away...

Guys, Had these weird symptoms on the BF such as air con and power windows not working realised the ignition barrel was not springing back fully on start up...once you turn the key back a bit everything starts working... I know the ignition barrel problem is an issue with the Falcon, but I'm getting different opinions on how to fix it...some forums say steering column needs to come out...others are saying no need...some say they can fix the barrel themselves. Can anyone that's been through it provide some advice?

It might sound like a placebo effect but every time my FG has gone into Ford for warranty work, when I pick it up it always feels slower... I actually asked the service guy once whether they flashed my computer, because I have heard that if new firmware comes out, they just flash your car without needing instructions from the owner...(not sure if this is true...) I admit chances are they probably used it to pick up their lunches and gave it a thrashing probably causing heat soak etc... It won't cost you much to do a power run on a dyno as this will indicate if the car is doing what it's supposed too...then you can take it form there...

Being a turbo car, they can be temperamental, where you might give it a hit one day and think wow this thing rips (breaking traction and all…) Then the next day you give it another hit and you don’t get the same rush, and you feel underwhelmed…the car still pulls, but not as hard as the day before… Could be the fuel you use…could be the knock sensors taking timing out, could even be a boost leak…(could be allot of things…) If it’s a drastic change then it could be a boost leak etc…
-
Yeah exactly they're not selling high volume, so might as well dump the FPV motor in there on all the XRTs...it's too easy...they are already fitting the Brembos to the NSW HWY cars...so might as well just keep going with that set up across the board... Expensive Daewoo is going out with more of a bang with their LS3 305KW SS Commodore...(even though something tells me a 270KW FG/FGX Turbo will still probably get better acceleration times than the LS3 Commodore...) Never the less Expensive Daewoo has done something by dumping the LS3 motor in the SS, and also by going supercharged on more of the HSV models... 270KW is a bit behind the eight ball considering what power levels allot of the euro performance cars are coming out with...you need 310KW at a minimum...(my opinion here of course)
-
That's why the 310KW motor needs to go into all the series 2 FGX Turbos...
-
Actually I have had two clients buy the P85D...they are absolute weapons...you can't beat that instantaneous torque...you can download faster modes like "ludicrous" mode...lol I also have a collection of RC cars, from nitro fuel based, to two stroke fuel based with ported heads and bigger carbs etc...but nothing comes close to the electric brushless cars I have...they are rediculously fast... Now that battery technology is getting better with Lipo technology etc...electric motors are becoming a much more viable option...
-
So it's definitely not all XR6Ts' that will get the 310KW motor?...it will be just the sprint models? They should just drop the FPV motor in all the series 2 FGX Turbos...and just sell them with the upgraded Brembo 4 POTs... Is there any word on what the Police services will use post XR and SS?...(there was that article about the Mustang...)

Yeah that's as close as I got...I did think about getting some closer shots but felt a bit funny doing it, knowing I was probably being watched by the owner/driver.

It was the V8 convertible...

I was in Melbourne over the weekend, and seen this Mustang in Hawthorn...some young looking guys hopped into it..Ford engineers?...kids of Ford executives??...It must be one of the evaluation models for the Australian market?
