  1. I personally dont mind the ex chasers but I do remember one night last year when I was going for a walk with a friend and we could hear sirens and the thrashing about of a V8. We were standing next to a roundabout and two BF XR8 HWY patrols approcahed one behind the other... I can tell you now they were both using the shifter as you could hear them gearingdown as they were approaching the roundabout it really felt like they were forcing the downshift as the box was making like banging noises on the shifts then they flattened it again once they left the roundabout. The whole street stunk of brake pad smell...lol. My point is most of the time the HWY cars are cruised at the speed limit but when the cops are called to an emergency or are chasing someone, they drive them like they dont care. (No Sympathy) So there is a good chance a police officer would be slamming the gear changes real hard. Ive seen a hwy a patrol car try and mount a gutter in order to chase a stolen car even though the cop shouldve known the car would not make the gutter and cause all that damage... I still also think that if a car is standard then you should be able to drive it the way you want within its standard limits as the BA & BFs have a multitude of safety features which cut in to either protect the motor from over revving etc... Whats the point in having all these senses on the car if at the end of the day they cant protect the car from abusive behaviour?
  2. Really they are that quick aye?....hubba hubba that's acceleration for you. Seen one on the road the other day and was temtped to give it a squirt but maybe better I didnt aye.... Im running 281RWK in a standard auto even at that power level I still find it hard to comprehend that something can pull away from me... Are the GT2s 4 wheel drive so it makes up alot of ground on the launch?
  3. So can we assume that an auto 280RWK XR6T would be lineball with a current M5? Also does anyone know how quick the Porsche GT2 is?
  4. BF EX Chaser turbos with the ZF box are currently going for around the 23k mark at Fowles Auctions in Sydney with around the 60,000km mark. As said in a previous post even though they are not as common currently at the auctions, there will be a big influx of them in the next few months, so you will have a larger range to chose from in regard to kms, condition and colour. Most of the chasers I have seen do tend to look a bit worn, but you get the occasional one that looks fine... You might be getting something that might not be in top notch condition but if you can handle the little imperfections you might get on a chaser such as faded bonets and the occasional body scratches and holes in the dash then you are getting good deal. As 23k for a current model XR6T is still very good value regardless of it being an ex chaser...
  5. Ive got a process west intercooler and have fitted the transmission cooler under the intercooler but it sits flat and not in a vertical position so im prob not getting the best air flow to it but it was the only place I can think of...
  6. Yeah respray is a bit of a worry from my experience respray on a newish car especialy the same colour either meant hail damage or big accident and issue with colour matching older paint with new paint...just be careful
  7. Great wheels dumped would look awesome...that a great looking car
  8. Im thinking about getting a transmission coooler as im running around 280RWK. Will a trans cooler make a big difference in regard to protection my box from the excessive loads? Or would I be wasting my money which could be better spent on actualy beefing up the box.
  9. Just wanted to know what sort of 1/4 mile time people have gotten at around the 280RWK mark. My car is an auto (standard box) with around 280RWK... If good take offs are managed what sort of time should I expect...?
  10. Is it true that the XR6Ts built on or after September 06 have the strengthened F6 conrods and higher tension valve springs... If so how do you know?
  11. In the market for an intercooler and wanted to know what is the largest core size that can fit. Also need to know roughly how much it would cost fitted with plumbing, and dimensions... So far the largest I have seen is a 351x508x89mm Your help is appreciated...
  12. Just wanted to know what sort of boost levels are required in order to achieve a 280RWK figure.... Also wanted to know if at this level of power a larger intercooler needs to be fitted and stronger actuator spring.
  13. http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/Video/VideoIndex.aspx?vf=2 I hope this link works scroll down to the the Phoon review I thought you guys might interested in this review. Appart form the fact that the car sounds awesome under load the driver David Poland states that the Phoon is not only quicker than the XR8 but also blows the GT out of the water...and your talking stock v stock...So with a few minor tweaks on the Phoon you must be hitting super car acceleration times...lol
  14. They are one and the same car as the BF was sold prior to auction
  15. So Turbotaxi are you happy with the ex chaser? Does it still have the new car feel or does it feel a bit worn... Let us know how your going with it as I am contemplating a BF XR6T chaser...
  16. http://www.governmentauctions.com.au/vehic...?number=2101046 Just noticed an 05 BF XR6T at Fowls Auctions in Sydney with an auction price range of between 19-23k admittedly its an ex chaser with 77,456kms on the clock but if you wanted to get into a current model XR6T with the ZF 6 box I think for the price they might be good value. Aplogies if the link doesnt work...
  17. Use the "Force" Luke...lol
  18. They look hot...that is one mean looking cop car
  19. It could still be your throttle position sensor from experience ive had mine changed a couple of times, as I have had the stalling and missfire problem on gradual acceleration on highway conditions. In some instances a reflashing might fix the problem also
  20. Yeh I agree down low the wrx is very good but you have to rev it quite hard to get boost...unlike the XR6T which has effortless boost. For breaking and cornering its very hard to beat... the braking and cornering and ability to accelerate out of tight bends and corners is fantastic... The sti has bit more top end than the standard rex as it redlines at 8000revs...that said... top end is still a bit flat though where for example an edited t just gives you that snowball of power effect... I also have found that the rex really has to be punished in order to get it to take off hard off the mark....
  21. Highway patrol vehicles to be replaced 17 November 2006 NSW Police will commence a replacement program of some Highway Patrol vehicles after safety and operational concerns were recently raised by officers. NSW Police Fleet Management Services will replace the last 39 Ford XR8 BA series vehicles. The 159 BF series XR8 Falcons will be provided a technical upgrade by Ford, commencing next week. Fleet Services manager Mr Keith Simmons said that as a result of concerns raised by police the vehicles identified will be substituted over the next month. “NSW Police Highway Patrol operate more than 400 vehicles and this replacement program will have little impact on day to day operations,” Mr Simmons said. “These vehicles will be replaced with the Ford XR6 turbo and Expensive Daewoo Late model camira V8 SS models. “Information provided to us by highway patrol officers indicated that there were concerns with regard to the vehicles stalling at idle or low speed. “We have been negotiating with Ford for sometime over these issues and they have advised us that solutions have been developed to address our concerns. “It is imperative due to the nature of the work undertaken by the NSW Police Highway Patrol that officers have every confidence in the vehicles provided to them,”said Mr Simmons
  22. Apparently the NSW HWY Patrol has been having some problems with their XR8s...and will prob substitute some with the XR6 turbo...
  23. Yeh the generic tunes are not up to scratch...just get it custom tuned its worth spending an extra $500 to make sure your getting peak power safely
  24. http://www.fowles.com.au/fixedprice/detail...uction=SGFIX182My Webpage
