  1. I have used the Subaru product in the passed too, it's not bad. I sprayed it through the throttle body hose, though can someone confirm whether or not you need to drop the oil after using this stuff. I have been told that for the flat boxer motor it's a necessity because the flat motors tend to build up more carbon deposits?
  2. That price sounds good...I will keep it in mind when I go out and get some quotes...thanks mate
  3. RynoF6, out of curiosity what sort of cost are we talking about to respray the front end?...we talking bumper/ guards /bonnet? GeGe6, I have exactly the same pitting on the rear doors as yourself, the way things are going my whole car will be covered in touch up paint...lol
  4. I try and use the SUV as a shield too, but you have to be weary, as sometimes you can get caught out when they change lanes and exit the motorway...leaving you exposed to the meteor shower...lol
  5. Mate I literally cop stone chips on a daily basis...noticed another one on my rear drivers door this morning as I got out of the car at work and the light was shining directly on it. What annoys me is that I travel on the M4 Motorway every morning and without doubt...there will be a tipper truck somewhere in the vicinity...I try and stay away from them but some how I'm always caught up behind one, or trying to overtake one to avoid it. I can't seem to win...
  6. Have you considered the new Merc A45...I just read up about it, apparently Wheels magazine did 4.4s 0-100, and it pulls a 12.6 quarter mile...

  8. I have Bendix Ultimates on the BF...and its like what the others say...the bight is very firm and you feel very confident stopping in them...though they are very dusty and can squeal a bit on light application of the brake...they are also very harsh on the disc but I believe that's the price you pay for stopping power... On my FG I have SRTs and they are supposed to be a step up from the Ultimates, but I can't say I have been that heavy on the brake to notice the difference between the two...they both have great bight and are dusty...though for some reason there seems to be less squealing with the SRT pad...
  9. I cracked the normal HIGH/LOW beam globe inside my BF...so I had pieces of bulb everywhere inside the light...the big piece of the bulb was removed by getting a long twig...and some double sided tape residue...the bulb literally stuck to the twig and was pulled out... The smaller broken pieces were taken out by attaching a piece of garden hose to the vacuum cleaner (attached it with normal gaffer tape) and shoving the garden house in the light assembly and sucking everything out... Otherwise you have to take your whole light assembly out and etc...
  10. I think it's three screws after that to unbolt fan and pull it out...mine was squeaking on the BF...got a replacement from the wreckers for around $40 or $50 from memory.
  11. On the BF which runs around 5 psi peak...I have seen it spike to about 8psi on the gear changes from memory...
  12. Yeah its annoying...at then end of the day I'm going to have to wear it...I totally agree a full respray of the bonnet is in order... You guys think its worth going through insurance...or just pay to get it done...im thinking it will cost around 1K?... Anyone got any idea?
  13. Yeah it is...it has raised the clear...I can't stand to look at it...I seriously don't know what actually hit my car, or where it came from...there was no car in front of me, and opposing traffic was at a stand still...
  14. I haven't checked on my FG, but on my BF I have a boost gauge and that spikes on every gear change...normal apparently.
  15. Yeah I will try and get some quotes to respray the whole bonnet...but sometimes what turns out to be a simple bonnet respray ends up being two front guards resprayed and possibly blended into the doors...so half the car ends up being resprayed for one measly chip on the bonnet. I suppose it is, what it is... Thanks for the input guys...
  16. Guys driving home last night from work something hit my bonnet...not sure what it was, there was no other cars in front of me, and the cars on the other side of the road were stationary in traffic. Somehow something...could have been a meteorite for all I know...came out of nowhere and impacted my bonnet... You guys think I will need to get the whole bonnet resprayed for this? Or is there some way to repair the chip and blend in the paint with the rest of the bonnet... Anyone had any experience with this type of stuff?
  17. Maybe check your connections to the starter...a loose connection might be the cause of an intermittent problem.
  18. Assuming coils aren't the issue and apart from waste gate, and boost leak related issues, maybe consider changing your fuel filter, otherwise connect a boost gauge up to make sure its actually boosting how it should. Even a blocked cat could be a possible cause...
  19. Hi mate, There's a place in Tempe Sydney that sells them for $289. This place is across the road from Tempe Tyres. http://www.batterymart.com.au/dispdet.php?idw=0910061801368709
  20. The ones I use are the Optima Yellow Top D75/25
  21. My BF has had the drivers side changed twice...and both times the turbo has not come out...though I can't give you any pointers because it was done by a mechanic...
  22. Actually I'm curious as to which mechanic was able to do it, and cost, as I need to recalibrate my BF steering angle sensor also, and previously it was always Ford that used to do it. I had rung around a few steering places and tyre places but allot of them either had no idea, or were not able to do it.
  23. Guys, It seems that the reason for the sluggish performance was my petrol filter. Since my old man drives the car and barely goes over 1.5K revs cruising the suburbs he really didn't feel the difference, after changing it. I drove the car on the weekend and it feels like a different car...its no slug any more... I have previously changed the petrol filter once before, but for some reason this time it made a big difference. Now I'm thinking this might be the reason my car has pinged once or twice... Out of curiosity would a clogged filter lead to a lean condition, and trigger off the knock sensors, hence retarding the timing, and causing the car to drop power? As the car feels much stronger now off boost, and on boost, even though its still making the same PSI as it was pre filter change.
