  1. The ute doesn't look all that bad...that would be an XR version I would say... Actually I quite like it...
  2. Guys, Anyone know what the life span of the ZF box would be under normal stock applications? I know its possibly one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions, but is there anyone that has done say 300,000KMS and their ZF is still going strong? Or possibly a taxi driver that has been through a couple of boxes and knows roughly how long they last...(granted the cabbies tend to give them a beating)
  3. Will they be making the NSW police packs from the release date? Or will it be another year after the release date, like the FG when they were arguing over the brake packages... Looking at buying another ex chaser but not sure if I should just get an FG II or wait for the FGX. I noticed even with the VF SS the Victoria Highway Patrol had them from the word GO, but as usual it was ages by the time NSW Highway Patrol got their hands on them...
  4. If your car has warranty, then there should be no issue at all.
  5. If it does leak you will see it dripping onto the alternator usually... If no leak, then it probably is the pump or even an issue with the belt or pulley...
  6. Yeah they should replace the pump under warranty. Though usually it's one of the power steering hoses that leaks at the connector. I had to replace mine once on the BF when it was out of warranty, and the genuine power steering hoses cost more than the power steering pump.
  7. Oh yeah...makes sense...yeah I wasn't too sure..that's why asked the panel beater if it needed blending... I just went on his advice, if he told me the guards needed to be painted, I would have still told him to go ahead with the job. I will see how it looks over the next couple of weeks and take it from there...
  8. Under 50K with Brembos will definitely be good value... The cops will probably start getting them also, if that's the case...
  9. LOL...dam those fluro lights...believe me, you don't want to be looking at your car under those fluro lights...you will get depressed...lol Just like the good old disco days, when you thought she was a good sort until the lights went on at the end of the night...then you had to pull off the old left stage right exit, Benny Hill sprint...
  10. LOL...yeah that's exactly how I will get...better to address it, than live with it...
  11. Actually I think I have lifetime guarantee too, and the guy said if I wasn't happy to bring it back anytime...so I might have to take him up on the offer...
  12. Actually I did mention to the panel beater if the guards needed to blended in etc...but he said no need... Even though I asked him again, if he was sure it didn't need to be blended in... I just thought I would leave it to the professionals to work it out...but it looks like I should have pushed the issue and got the guards blended in. If he had told me that the guards needed to be blended in, I would have complied...I just went on his advice...
  13. Guys, I got my bonnet resprayed as I had some pretty bad stone chips on it, that I couldn't bare to look at it anymore. I picked up the car last night, and when I got home I had a look at it under the fluro lights in my car port, and the colour of the bonnet looks a bit off from the colour on the guards. The colour is nitro blue. Is it unreasonable of me to expect an exact paint match, when just the bonnet was painted with no blending in of the guards etc... I know you will never get it 100%, whenever you paint just one panel, but what are people thoughts or experiences on this.
  14. I like the blue colour. I think what throws you off is that the new front and rear ends don't follow the natural evolutionary progression of the XR. As in when I look at an FG XR, I can see how the front end does look like that sleek, aggressive, aerodynamic “falcon” look...(falcon as in the bird) So to me the FG looks like a complete car, as in the front end, matches the rear end, and everything in between. Where as the FGX seems like a "copy and paste" job of the front end and rear end, to a body that wasn’t really meant for it. They have copy and pasted a front end that possibly really doesn't represent the next step in the evolution of the car. They have taken it from looking like an aggressive falcon (I’m talking about the bird here)…to looking like a snake which I believe the Mustang is modelled on. Not sure if this makes sense, as it’s hard to put down in words. I probably sound like David Attenborough Though after saying all that, I’m sure the look will grown on me, just need more time to adjust to the contrasting look of the car…
  15. I think I had read somewhere that if you do replace the mechatronics, that it does need to be flashed. I could be wrong but I do remember reading something on this in regard to the ZF.
  16. Yeah I went to a Expensive Daewoo V8, after a VL Late model camira Turbo 5 speed ...and the V8 just felt frustratingly slow... Though I would imagine a supercharged V8 would have allot more urgency, than a naturally aspirated V8...
  17. Yeah if it was around the 50K mark, I think I might be interested too, it would definitely be allot of car for the money. Though in all honestly I have never driven a supercharged V8, even though the power delivery is linear, does the thing feel fast? Or is it one of those deceptively fast cars, where you don't feel it as much as a turbo, but the thing moves... Can anyone with a supercharged V8 describe the feel??...lol
  18. Does anyone have an indication of what the price range of the new XR8 will be? Also I read something yesterday that the FGX will be able to dial triple zero in the even that the air bags get deployed? Apparently some of the smaller modern Fords already have this option?
  19. They might do it even cheaper if you turn up with 4 wheels. No harm in asking for a discount...
  20. Guys, I just dropped into Bob Jane and thought I would just ask them what they thought. They happen to have their wheel repair guy there and they polished and re cleared the face of the wheel for $90. They literally did it in around 2 hours. Looks ok to me...I will try and post up pics soon
  21. Sorry guys I meant per wheel...$300 per wheel...I have no idea if this is a fair price...
  22. I sent photos off to one place that fixes wheels, and they said around the $300 mark and they will come out like new. (Machine, Paint and Clearcoat) What do you guys think?...is that a fair price?
  23. Guys, Just wondering if the blemishes on the wheel can be polished out? Anyone know someone in Sydney that can help me out?
  24. Yeah, I even changed to the metal pan, with separate filter... It just whines through all gears and only stops once the car has warmed up... I suppose I will have to start with looking at the oil levels...
