Ok just noticed one of the sensors has come loose, so it must be causing the issue.
-
Guys, My reverse sensors have been acting a bit funny the last couple of days like speeding up the beeping when there is nothing there on a flat surface...(nothing on the rear sides either). It just started the other day... I have heard that reverse sensors can calibrated...not sure if this is true or how it can be done...anyone heard anything, or know anything about this?

Yeah it could be the handbrake, though I would also make sure all your wheel nuts are tight. If your wheel nuts are loose on the front it can cause a wobble on your front rotors, and noise... Could also be those springy brackets that hold the rear pads in...as they just clear the rotor by millimeters...

It definitely needs forced induction

Buying 2011 Xr6T - Should I Get Extended 3Yr Warranty
boost69 replied to timdb's topic in General Car Talk
I've got the my ford extended warranty, which covers the car up to 200,000KMS and another 3 years, paid around $1,900 for it. It's a proper Ford warranty registered with Ford head office. Doing your diff bushes a couple of times will end up costing a couple of grand, let alone if your turbo goes, or you cop the ZF milkshake. If you get the proper Myford extended warranty, you shouldn't have a problem with making any type of claim. Your car has low KMS which means it's likely going to get any potential problems during your ownership, as you start clocking up the KMS. You need to get the genuine Ford one, as the others are full of conditions and pitfalls. -
Basically it winds out the car more...holds the gear more than in adaptive mode...so you can "sling shot"...lol
-
Yeah diff bushes, and maybe check shaft play of turbo. Take note of how the tranny shifts and maybe even check for the dreaded milkshake. If the car is stock and has had regular oil changes, then there's nothing of significance I can think of based on my experience. Sometimes the turbo side engine mount can go at that amount of kms...but that's not a deal breaker. Even the diff bushes are not a deal breaker, but you can probably bargain the car down by $500 if you can pick that out. Don't forget to check the body and make sure panel lines are straight and clean, and that there hasn't been any respray activity due to accident.

I do know someone in the force, who knows one of the traffic services sergeants, that has given me basic details on cars I have been interested in the passed, that were coming up for auction. Usually they tend to know about the cars driven by the big bosses etc... as there's only a handful of these cars... I believe the current Traffic 3 car is an unmarked FG Mark II, in the edge colour, from what I have seen from photos. The first thing that would arouse my attention is that the when the car does come through to auction, it will generally have much lower kms than the other ex highway cars. (and they are generally much cleaner looking)...this is probably an obvious point... The car also doesn't have radar gear etc...as its literally used as basic transportation for the superintendent.(though it does have the dash mounted strobe lights etc...) Otherwise it's hard to know if its one of these cars, unless someone can confirm this for you, as Police Fleet Services don't tell you anything...

Yeah my FG was the Quakers Hill 201 Highway car (unmarked), bought mine with 65,000kms, and have only changed my diff bushes once. To be honest I love it, have had it since July 2012, and absolutely love driving it. I think the Brembo and FPV wheel combination really do allot for the car... I also have a BF Mark II XR6T, which was the Mount Druitt 201 car, bought that with 60,000KMS and can't say I have had any major problems with it, apart form the usual diff bushes etc...now done 225,000KMS, and I'm tossing up wether to update it with another ex chaser FG Mark II or wait for the FGX. If I come across one of the superintendents cars such as the "Traffic 3 XR6T" at the auction, which I'm keeping a look out for I will definitely be bidding on that. (as these cars are generally used for the superintendents to cruise around in)
-
I think most people will get used to the looks as it's definitely not, "AU Falcon, only a mother could love ugly"... For me, the more I see it, the more I'm settling in to the look of it... In all honesty, I'm starting to like it, I just hope it doesn't make my FG look too out dated when it's released...

Vibration After New Tyres And Balance Ect....
boost69 replied to Bizkets is Drunk?'s topic in Suspension and Handling
Actually, I would have to totally agree about making sure the wheel nuts are tight... If you don't position the wheel correctly when you put it back on the axle, your wheel nuts will get loose causing a vibration... DEFINITLEY CHECK THE WHEEL NUTS FIRST!!!... -

Yeah they could've stuffed the wheel balance up...take it to another place for a balance...or maybe even a weight could have come off the wheel. -
I also feel that keeping in line with say the FG X6T, that Expensive Daewoo really doesn't have anything comparable... The front end of the Late model camira looks nice, the interior "look" is in another league compared to the Ford, but I'm not a real fan of the rear end of the Commodore. I would still buy the FGX over the Late model camira based purely on the shear pleasure I get out of driving the turbo 6. Expensive Daewoo might have really revamped, and refined the VF Commodore, but they haven't spent much on the where the heart of the car is, such as range of power plants. Maybe if they introduced a twin turbo V6 or offered a supercharged V8 option on the standard SS, It would appeal to me more... Maybe I'm biased as I have always loved turbo charged cars. This is totally my opinion of course...

Hmmm...yeah I like it in those photos...very aggressive

Guys, the interior details have been released... http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/final-ford-falcon-interior-revealed-20140909-10eofs.html

Actually, I think the drive away price might be around the 180K mark...lol... You are right though, for the price you pay for our cars, you really can't beat the bang for buck ratio.

I have always liked the C63, compact car with allot of power, and apparently the next generation will run the twin turbo V8, and I can only imagine what sort of power levels you would be able to get out something like that tuned etc... I'm definitely a fan...
-
Just curious guys, as I was behind a C63 while driving the BF, and this guy was hammering it hard, and I have to admit the thing was moving. I was sort of trying to plant it in the BF after him, but you could tell during the short squirts that the C63 had my measure quite easily. Though I was thinking if I was in my FG, I feel like I could have possibly kept up with the C63, or at least kept up enough to be a nuisance...lol Anyone had a traffic light stoush with a C63 in a stock FG?? I am sure even if the C63 got you etc...it wouldn't have been a humiliating loss...(well I hope not...lol)
-
Yeah that's definitely one for the wank bank...you didn't start frothing at the mouth as you were talking to her did you??

I'm just thinking wether I should hold onto my second car (BF MARK II XR6T) a little longer...but its done 224,000KMS, and I'm worried it might be a time bomb with the amount of KMS its done... I don't want to start forking out cash rebuilding trannies and turbos etc...when I can use that money on a new car... I wouldn't mind holding onto it for another 12months and possibly getting a second hand FGX down the track, but I'm just not confident with the amount of KMS it's done...(just from a wear and tear perspective). From a maintenance perspective, car always runs synthetic and oil that gets changed every 7.5 to 10K KMS...transmission has been serviced etc...but I realise even with the best of maintenance things just wear out and fail after a while.
