  1. I rang every spoiler maker in the country and sent numerous emails mid last year. Nobody could make a rear wing as there were copyright rules in place for the design. I then rang a few race teams who wouldn't sell broken ones that I could fiberglass over. The rear wing is a 3 piece unit so if a part breaks they relace that bit. Mark Larkham finally gave me the details I needed and I rang Carbon Composities in Queensland ...the company that make them for the race teams. They would supply me one but told me I would have to strenghten the boot... (thick metal plates on the inside of the bootlid) or the wing would bend it at over 100klms. Cost ... wait for it $5,000 ... yes that right 5 grand for a rear wing, then you have shipping, fitting and painting....... bit more than I was prepared to pay, so I have forgotten about it.
  2. Friday 17th .... I'll be there.
  3. My first trip to Wakefield had the brakes crying out for mercy. I pushed 'em hard and by the end of the day I had hot spotted all the rotors. On the road though they felt no different. Just under $1000 later I had slotted rotors and greenstuff pads and the next 2 trips down to wakefield ... they were sensational. No fade what-so-ever. Best grand I have ever spent. And the difference on the road .... well that's great too, and in those situations we would rather not have (Like yesterday morning when some p-plater rice burner goose decided to U-turn in front mf me) they really show their worth.
  4. Been there 3 times in the last 6 months ...... Count me in, I'm having withdrawal symptoms.
  5. I found a few ways to get good economy. 1. Park it in the garage and drive the wifes car... but that's too boring 2. Don't drive it hard ... but why did I buy it .... that doesn't work 3. Only drive on freeways with the cruise control on, aware that camera are watching. and this last one is the only one that will ever work. Ask your employer for a fuel card as part of your salary ... I did & got one and fuel is excellent now.... They had to get caltex to change the ruling on my card so I could get vortex 98, everyone elso only gets standard fuel..... suckers.. in boring company cars. Point of this is drive it to enjoy it... I do!!!
  6. He is my 2cents worth ... My car had 22,000 klms when I first took it to Wakefield park for a fang. I have never had brake shudder or fade at all. Then after 5 laps the brake shudder started and as the day when on the fade got worse . By the end of the day I had hot spotted the rotors. Looked at the options and when for the PBR slotted rotors and green stuff pads. Around home you will know little difference. The rotors were $120 each, Pad about $100 a pair plus fitting and new fluid all up cost just under a grand. Next time down at Wakefield the difference was unbelivable. ABSOULTLEY no brake fade at all. I AM VERY HAPPY NOW!!!
  7. Rear spolier does nothing but look good..... Speaking of looking good, any one got a V8 Supercar spolier lying around. The manufacturer in Qld ... Carbon Composities want 5 grand foe one.... ouch!! Think that would look good on my car though
  8. I've spent 2 days down at Wakefield Park using the standard Dunlops. They feel great and wear well. Have never driven a car with really soft tyres so can't really help with what's good and what's not. I am running 1.5 degrees of negative camber and am getting no feathering while driving around home. My wheel alignment guy says it must be the spirited driving. Anyway, when these wear out think I will go for some really soft compound tyre on a spare set of rims and probably be blown away by the difference.!!!

If I was going to mod my XR6T in the body department it wouldn't be to look like a GT. I have searched long and hard for a rear wing like the V8 Supercars, but can't justify the $5000 Carbon Composites in QLD wants. .... So I think I'll leave it alone. If ya gonna mod it .... go all out, be different, done drive a "I can't afford a GT car"
  10. I put a B&M Short shifter in my 6 speed turbo and it is unreal, 2nd to 3rd .... never miss, but if you pause while shifting down you can get lost finding the right cog. Anyway I find its much better than the Herrod unit, much more direct. Also if your putting any kinda shifter in .... get rid of the rubber gromets from the shifter shaft, they make it feel so spongy, weld 'em up and redrill 'em. The B&M unit is a few hundred $$$ cheaper than the Herrod.. Wayne
  11. First turbo here. Got it 2 weeks ago Have had a few falcons in the past, EB, EF, EL, but this is the first XR, and I LOVE IT .............glad I didn't get an XR8 afterall.
  12. This is my first ever post to this or any other forum, so bear with me. I am picking up my XR6 Turbo Mark 2 6 speed this weekend and want some advice to sort out all I have read about modifications to the XR6T. This will be a daily driver, usually with my 2 kids in it or half the soccer team. BUT as I am going through through the "boy racer" phase again I want a quick car. SO to those that have done mods to their cars WHERE SHOULD I START?
