  1. Hi all, To all of those that have had to listen to me b**ching about my car, and for those who helped with some ideas to get ford to fix it and to those who helped me find who could fix the turbo for less than ford would...THANK YOU. I finally traded the thing in for $24K, and managed for them to trade it based upon my verbal description and made some story about it not been able to be viewed as it was in getting its 45,000 service done. I just hope they don't drive it...I cross my fingers. It cost only 2 K to get the turbo charger rebuilt versus the 3.5K ford said it would... or a new one for 5K, by getting a local turbo specialist rebuilding it. So just again.....word of advice, never buy a car from South Melbourne Jefferson ford.....they are sh*tful. Cheers RAY PS....and yes I have put my slippers, smoking jacket and old mans drivers hat and gloves on and purchased a new VW passat....very slow...but fingers crossed reliable.
  2. sorry guys, the only mod it has is a small dent on the side, and of course the new; brakes radiotor speed sensors battery intercooler radiator computer heat shields xr6 signs that some one stole ....and the rest of the items I cannot remember...casue when you have 23 warranty claims you loose count... and as a bonus they get a hand brake that has not worked since we have owned the car. But don''t worry I am not providing the rego number, casue this baby is a complete lemon....thus it is been sold !....and I am off to BMW or AUDI....and yes I know I will not get the performance...but I will (hopefully) some service and respect......but as with all companies it is a lottery. Cheers RAY
  3. Hi all, My XR6 Turbo will be up for sale in a months time. It will be just out of warranty by a week or so. Purchased in April 2003, it is has done 46k's, is automatic, in silver and just has the basics. Does any one know how much I should be asking in order to rid of it and also what is the best way to sell it privately ? Cheers RAY
  4. Thanks, I have been quoted 1.5K at worst to rebuild it and then installation & removal, so will probably let that one go....but thanks for looking into it for me. Cheers RAY PS....perhaps I should buy it as a spare....just joking
  5. Hi all, Thanks for the support...I have found JPC in Thomastown who will do the rebuild for less that 3.5K Cheers RAY
  6. To all that asked. I have done nothing to it, the car is a complete sh*t box....& I haven't got enough room on this page to describe or explain the issues. It has everything except the motor replaced. Because it has had in excess of 23 warranty claims and about 8 of them were around the 30,000 k mark, I assumed that the 30 K service was done....simply casue I was in their bloody work shop so much...and course they didn't tell me it wasn't. Anyway at 45k's the turbo started making a funny sound so I asked them to look at it when they did the 45 K service. They said the turbo is rooted and will cost 5K for a new one. Ford then also informed me becuase I neglected to have the 30K service done that they would not honour the warranty. I have yelled and written to everyone even Tom Gorman the president...but they simply say bad luck. Ford...NEVER EVER AGAIN !
  7. Need help !! Urgent !! My 2003 XR6 turbo has a blown turbo, Ford will not honour the warranty as usual !...that's another story....just never go to Jefferson ford ! Strapp ford are quoting $5,260 for a brand new unit, or $3,730 for a rebuilt one. I need to get me wheels back so I can get it sold asap as everything is falling to pieces on it ! Can any one tell me what I should be paying for a rebuilt turbo, and what company in Victoria would do it. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers RAY
  8. same as my staff at work...it has become the local joke....and that is 30 people who would never touch one !....pitty cause if and when it works it is a great car....but try telling 30 staff members that when it has been into the dealership for more than 20 plus warrnaty claims....and it still is not fixed....and they say there is nothing we can do.... Anyway....I move on....I am saving for something European !
  9. A reply from a person that has also been shagged by a sh*t ford dealership. (sth Melb jefferson Ford to name it....don't go there !!!) I have had all that plus more with my xr6t, and I cannot wait to get rid of the s__t box when I can afford to buy something else other than a ford. I have written to current affairs, complained to the ford service line, written to the ceo of ford, threatened the dealership with everything (in writing & in person). Nothing....I cant punch them in the head cause I have kids, and dad would look stupid in court. So for all the lovely thoughts and ideas....forget it...Ford sell sh__tloads of these cars, and one angry customer is like a needle in a haystack......and the story is not sexy enuff for TV or radio. Just go down pick the car up and get someone else other than Ford to fix it. South Melbourne ford couldn't fix mine and I finally sent it to Herrod and they finally fixerd it at my expense....not perfect but better than the backfiring, no hand brack, squeeling brakes car that we had before. Legal action is not worth it as the value of the issues do not weigh up to the value of the car. MOve on......and no I am not a Expensive Daewoo advocate....just a realist that think ford & Expensive Daewoo sell too many cars to give a dam. Cheers & best of luck Raymondo !
  10. I think it was me in the heat of the moment. I rang the tv station and got the contact details and was going to send thru the details but it just didn't sound that sexy or concerning. I couldn't see Ray Martin talking about an old ford that farts around corners. So as usual my mouth is bigger than my actions.....so I took the car to herrord....I will cross my fingers that it is fixed. Cheers RAY
  11. I dropped the car at Herrod and they advised that the car stalling and farting has nothing to do with the tyres. Anyway they drove the car and tested it. The fix was to replace the plugs cause they reckon this was the problem. I picked the car up and it appears to be running better and no farting or stalling with traction control on. My wife drives it during the week and she reckons it is heaps better, but I will test it this weekend with a few donuts and corner accelerations. For anyone that is interested I will advise. Cheers RAY PS Jefferson Ford and Ford Geelong Engineers are full of cat dung !
  12. Hi Brett.....I agree with your words EXACTLY...and even my wife agrees and she hates the C bomb ! Hi Matt, of my 23 warranty claims (excluding normal services) to date none have been the electric windows.....but fair to say I have had everything else break or not work. Cheers RAY PS....I gave the guys at Herrord Sports in Melbourne a call today and they reckon they can fix the problem...so before I go totally Fu_ken bananas I am going to give to them to have a go at...
  13. I wouldn't advise getting all the new bits that my car has had...cause it does not fix it. The ford guys are adament that it is a traction control issue, not a motor or similar issue. Have alook at your traction control light when it starts stalling. Also check to see if the problem happens when you have traction control turned off. Anyway...I hope for you it is not what my car has cause Ford are very un-interested in it, and also no one is going to buy my car with its service history and the way it runs. Best of luck, and don't take any Bullsiht from your dealer. Cheers RAY
  14. If your engine flutter is what mine has gone thru then you have problems...cause mine does it badly around corners at low speed when accelerating(especially when cold)....it has been into Ford over 8 times and also I have had Geelong ford technicians look at it. They have now said the problem is the tyres and have asked that I replace the tyres at my expense...even though they are roadworthy. I have sent the issue to Ford Australia and asked for their formal response cause they cannot fix it. Their response is...we have done everything but we think your tyres should be replaced....God knows why.....I am awaiting for their response in writing cause I am not happy. Anyway...I have had the following replaced to date..speed sensors....radiator...pipes...computer...abs...traction control..pump, brakes. I have also had two computer software updates and this did nothing So I would be keen to hear what the exact problem you are experiencing is...cause Ford advise no other car has this problem. Just for your information I am presently trying to get my car problem sorted out thru the media cause Ford are no longer interested. Cheers & best of luck ! Ray
  15. Dear unhappy FORD person. I am in the same boat, moved from Expensive Daewoo to the XR6 T. I love the car but the problems have been going on and on. I just cracked the sh_t at them this week at the dealer and hopefully it may solve it...but this is what I have done. 2 weeks ago I scheduled it to go in for another attempt for them to fix the ongoing problems up. I asked for a replacement vehicle at the same time. When I dropped the car in last Monday this week, I asked at the same time for; 1. a print out of all my service records for the car cause I am Fu__ed off. 2. they asked when do I want to collect my car...my response was NEVER, not unless they have fixed all the problems. 3. I also said if it is not resolved I am taking all my documentation and woes to the media. It is now Saturday, I am still driving their car, they have only rang me once to say they have not fixed it and are still working on it and will call me it is done. I will ring them on Monday (a week later) to see if it is ready....but I am not collecting it unless it is fully fixed. If they say it is and it is not then I will ask for money back or a new one (which they won't) ...then I will make a complete dick of myself on talk back radio at the 5pm drive home shows so erveryone knows what a bunch of Fu witts jeffreson ford are (sth melbourne). Then....I have no idea what to do ? So I will tell you if this startegy works.....you can only try. Cheers & best of luck RAY
  16. Hi all, The saga continues, the car went in last week (jefferson ford sth melb) & they replaced the traction control & abs....but no luck Then yesterday it went again...they replaced the speed sensors and the computer.....but no luck. Jefferson Ford are now back to scratch and cannot solve it. They are now trying to get the Ford Engineer guru out AGAIN to look at it to solve....hopefully he doesn't just change the tyres like he did last time. The only good news of this story is that Ford do recognise it is a problem,.....but they just can't seem to fix it....just need to fix before my warranty runs out in April next year. Does ANYONE know of a place I could take it to in Melbourne that would be able to solve it ???...that is, they know the xr6 turbo inside out ! Any help appreciated. Cheers RAY
  17. Just an update on my cars farting problems.. It took it into ford last Friday. Left it for the day and the travelling engineer from ford said that he thinks it is a tyre problem...so they swapped the back wheels. I drove out of the ford dealership, and the car just farted again around bends at slow speeds...so it went back. Tomorrow it is in again (must be getting cloise to 50 visits back to ford now) and they are going to replace the ABS. To all the people that have given me hints etc...cheers...I passed these on to Ford, but they discounted most of them....but then again they cannot seem to fix it. I will update after 2morrow as to whether the replacement ABS fixes it. Raymondo
  18. You have exactly the same issue as me. I will get it sorted and tell you what they did to resolve it...cheers RAY
  19. Kaine, This problem has sent me round the bends cause Ford dealer never believed me, and it took about 5 or so times before they agreed. What I do notice is that it does it more often when the car is cold or running in cold weather, and usually when acclerating hard out of very slow or tight corners. If this what you are experiencing then I will tell you what they say after Thursday. Cheers RAY
  20. I will tell u all what ends up been wrong, cause the supposed genius (rooving engineer from Ford) is looking at next Thursday. Cheers RAY
  21. Hi all, Thanks for all the input. Nope the car is not modified in anyway..so no issues there, and the tyres should be AOK. The ford guys went over the car thoroughly yesterday and finally agreed with me that it was not running correctly and there is a problem but they do not know how to solve it...but they have agreed with me finally...excellent. So they are now going to make contact with some Ford engineer (guru) and book a time for them to pull the thing to bits and solve it...cause so far they have checked everything from the radiator to the speed sensors on the wheels. I will keep you posted. Cheers RAY
  22. I do not know whether this is the same light but I got that light just before my radiator spewed its guts. (faulty radiator that was replaced) You may want to check you are not leaking radiator coolant or have any leaks there? Cheers RAY
  23. Hi all, I have posted this problem before but since everyones input have had it at jefferson ford in sth melb again for them to look at (and check everyones ideas...cheers !), they can't find any thing wrong with it...again. So I asked to use another turbo with exact same k's on it (35k's). I took this car for a qood run it didn't have an over extreme protective traction control system. Plus the service guy agreed that my car had the traction control system coming on when it shouldn't have...but he and they all didn't now what the issue could be. To me it sounds simple the traction control system is F#^ked...but not so.. Anyway problem is when traction control is on in my car it is over zealous in its application, meaning around slow corners and you accelerate the car simply farts and holds back....to the point it is annoying to not only me, but my wife notices it as well...and she only picks the kids up in it. The car never did this originally, and infact I found this traction control really good, as earlier cars I have owned, had terrible traction control systems. I have had all hosings checked, radiator etc, reflashed the chip etc etc. The car goes in 2morrow to ford again for them to try and rectify and they guy was rambling about speed sensors in the wheels etc, but I have a funny feeling they will not find the issue as it has been in 5 times for them to fix this issue.....they think I am going nuts at the dealership. Before I go nuts can anyone tell me whether the turbo's traction control system is not very good and cuts in even when there is no need for it, especially whilst slow cornering and when the car is cold ? For the record I originally thought it was not the traction control system and just thought the car was misfiring, but the car only does this when traction control is on. If any one is bored and can be bothered reading this long message I would appreciate any feedback......cause the car never was like this when I purchased it. Cheers RAY PS...I have advised my wife that if I upgraded to a Typhoon then it will fix this problem ??
  24. Thanks for all the feed back....I will run out and flash the car, check my pipes and then go from there. I will tell you if I have any luck.
  25. Thanks for the advice, but excuse my ignorance...what is a flash (apart from what the locals do at St Kilda -Vic every night) ? Cheers RAY
