  3. Finally got round to spending some money on my T. Have ordered some DBA4000 slotted discs all round plus Ferodo 2000 pads all round, now the only issue is getting them put in because I'm hopeless at anything mechanical. Anybody in Perth know of someone to recommend and how much it should cost to install?
  4. Being a tax accountant myself I've read most the stuff written with interest. One never ring the ATO once. From experience you get one knowledgeable officer out of 5. They have given incorrect advice to my clients on numerous occassions. So call them more than once to verify the previous crap told. Two call your bloody accountant they make a living trying to find ways to tweak the rules. Having said that the problem you guys have is that if the employer/leasing mob says they won't go for a certain strategy then, despite the fact you've been told what you want to do is legal, your stuffed. I liked the bit about paying for detailing, very cool, if paid by the employee gets treated as an employee contribution and reduces the FBT involved, so does any running expense paid by the employee. I treat most utes/vans as exempt as the personal use is incidental, but it would be hard to justify if the person was a desk jockey.

    Dilemma

Well I have resolved the issue in some err fashion. Missus gets my T with the brakes fixed nothing else and I take delivery of a new GTS sometime in August. Think my driveways going to be confused, I went out ot get the F6 but a couple of things swayed me. One the interior just looked old to me (and that's my taste only so don't get riled) and the dealer was unwilling to do anything with the list price, even though the 07 model will be due out soon. So I have committed heresy but only half stone me to death as I kept my T.

    Dilemma

And no I'm not Jewish and the dilemma is not cheap pork. Its not a bad one but I cant make my mind up. Come July I'm coming into some cash, that's the good part, the dilemma is what option to go down with my car. I'm trying to figure out whether to spend money on my BA or go out shopping for a new F6 Typhoon or (dare I blaspheme on this website) a new VE GTS. Off ebay I have priced: FORD BA FALCON BIG BRAKES GTHO GT HO FPV GTP $1,999 Ford XR6 BA BF Typhoon F6 Turbo Monza Intercooler Kit $450 FORD FALCON BA BF XR6 TURBO STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST $1,640 SS Inductions Ford XR6 Turbo Growler Cold Air Induction $499 Bosch 968 440cc Fuel Injectors for Ford XR6 Turbo $659 CAPA Flash Tuner Ford AU BA BF XR6 XR6T XR8 FPV Typhoon $770 WALBRO GSS341 FUEL PUMP BA XR6 TURBO $135 Add labour (because I'm mechanically retarded), custom tuning of say $500 and new wheels/rubber $3500 would bring the spend to $10k at least (I know some of the ebay stuff might not be the correct brand/quality/part etc but as a budgeting guide it's a start). The alternative is to sell my BA (67K on the clock) and be lucky if I get 20-23k and blow an extra 44k to get the typhoon with auto/brake upgrade/leather or say 54k extra on the GTS. Both options would have to be HP/lease. I have a preference for the F6 cos it's cheaper, but the new HSV looks hot and even though I know a custom tuned F6 would drop it for dead I'm still tempted (I know, I know, I deserve stoning to death for heresy). If I blow the money on the BA the car would be better but better than a new car? All the mods would certainly not help resale, but your likely to lose 20% of new car value in 12 months. My brain hurts, meanwhile work is playing second fiddle to my repeated FPV and HSV website searches. Someone just shoot me.
  7. found them on the same web site, I orginally thought they were 1k a corner and I emailed them to verify the price and yep they said the cost was 1k for 4 wheels.
  8. thinking about buying these 18 x 8 inch rimms, they are cheap $1000 for 4. anybody have them?

    Brake Packages

Thanks for the feedback mate. A couple more questions if you don't mind. Which one did you choose out of the two? Did you install them yourself or did you pay someone to put them on? If you paid someone was it expensive? I'm not mechanically minded myself so I need someone to install them. Cheers Con

    Brake Packages

Hi Guys Getting a stack of brake shudder on my BA XR6T, rather than looking at new pads and machining the existing discs I was thinking about upgrading the brakes. Checked out ebay found these two brake packages, to be honest I know bugger all about what I should be looking for. My car has the standard brake package. Any advice? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BA-BF-AU-Falcon-Bra...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-BA-FALCON-BIG-...oQQcmdZViewItem Cheers, Con
  11. On saturday I was giving my T a bit of stick and the oil light indicator went on. As I hadn't heard any loud noises indicating that I stuffed the engine up I decided to nurse the car to a servo and check the oil level in the car. When I checked it there was evidence of oil being sprayed around over the intake manifold and some on the rocker cover, I checked the oil, bone dry. Thought what the f*ck, have I blown the turbo? Put some more oil in and ran the engine for 5 mins, checked the oil, sure enough bone dry again! Looked underneath the car and there's an oil pool. At this stage I started to sh*t myself, I parked the car and arranged ford care to tow the car home as the people who service my car (Centre Ford) were closed. On monday I arranged again through ford care to get the car towed to the dealer, my first concern that they would try and say I voided the new car warranty by punting the car too hard. Service guys said they would check it out and call me back. That afternoon I get a call saying my cars ready to go!!!!! Apparently the seal or gasket on the oil filter leaked all the oil out? I was happy I hadn't totalled the engine or turbo, but I'm a touch paranoid as to how things went down. One the car was just serviced 3 weeks ago (30,000km) two they didnt give me any paperwork to evidence the repair, they just said it was covered under warranty. My issue is this, I reckon they didn't fit the oil filter properly when they did the service and because they f*cked up I may have caused damage to the engine. If the car later f*cks up because it was driven (for about 10 mins) with no oil I have no evidence on what just occurred and no come back to Ford. And to add to my weekend's misadventure the tow guys f*cked up my front spoiler. I haven't called I suspect they're just going to tell me to f*ck off.

    Death Mode

mine did the same thing on the freeway about two months ago, when I pulled up the f*cking thing was barely idling and it stalled (it's an auto) . I tried starting it about 5 or 6 times no luck until the last attempt. after it started there was no problem at all, it was like nothing had ever happened. took it to centreford got it reflashed no problems since. modern technology, f*cking makes you feel helpless!

    Spotted

I live south of the river off leach, I have seen a XR6 BA falcon white with twin blue stripes, never got close enought to see if it was a turbo or not. Interested me cause I have a white xr6 turbo and the stripes looked pretty cool. dunno how they hold up over time though.
  14. I'm free that day but I have a bucks party on saturday night. So technically speaking I will be there..... practically speaking depends on how sh*tfaced I get.
  15. I have driven manuals for 18 years this car is my first auto. It's great in peak hour to use the auto and at other times to also have the option to be able to use the semi auto to slow down for corners or to downshift through the twisty stuff. I haven't had any issues with the auto doing this and the auto seems to provide the best of both worlds. Mind you I dont chuck burnouts or race the car at tracks, nor have I modified the car in any way. There's my two cent worth anyway, good luck with your choice.

  18. thanks, if that's the case then I guess I can ignore the 1200kg limit as the tow bar I got fitted is rated for 1600kgs
  19. well after much anguish I took my car in today to ford due to a concern over the fact that twice on the weekend the car had started to idle very roughly causing me to turn the engine off. I mentioned some of the comments I have read here, the service guys were adamant that they reckon it's all crap (don't bite guys I know that's what they were going to say and that they have very little motive for telling punters the truth). I just got the car back, the service notes mentioned two things: (1) something about oil getting into the "throttle body" via a bad pc valve and that the valve had been replaced and oil had been removed? (I'm not a mechanic, just a beancounter). Apparently the car still didn't idle to their expectations (although outside of those two occassions I didn't know there was an issue with the normal idle) (2) as a result of them believing the car still didnt idle to specs they reflashed the car with their latest program. so what does this all mean? first impression are that the car idles at a higher rpm and at normal cruising speed feels more refined. after those first five minutes I put the car into manual mode and caned the sh*t out of it. guys there is no power loss in my vehicle, the only thing I really noticed is that when I back off the car responds quicker to this whereas before there was always some residual momentum or acceleration. I'm probably nuts but when I put the car into "auto" performance mode I also perceived that the car was holding onto gear longer than previously. pretty simple comments, no dyno testing, slide rule etc etc. my gut feel is that the car is actually a better drive travelling down south again, another 500k trip. will see how it goes and report again.
  20. I use manual mode most of the time, except for when I'm on the freeway or country driving. only had the car for 3 weeks but the auto seems fine with this. mind you I dont launch the car by increasing takeoff revs under braking. I just use the manual mode to de-accelerate prior to taking a corner.
  21. guys just got a tow bar installed, when I checked the specs for the xr6t it stated that max towing capacity was only 1200kgs. does this mean the t would be no good for towing say a caravan?

Just bought a second hand 2004 XR6 Turbo, picking up the vehicle tommorrow. Have visited the forum as a guest whilst I was "researching" the vehicle. Thought I would say hello to all.
