  1. Better for what? For power... probably the same (bugger all). For induction noise, many say BMC is the louder. Mine definitely is louder than standard, but I haven't tried a K&N.
  2. My plates are F6RCED Forced air induction, F6 Tornado, sounds good too
  3. They certainly do.......
  4. Putting that compressed air 'adapter' on the end of the intake was a master stroke. I can just see the guys at the Ford Dealership driving it around for an hour, scratching their heads and theorising where the leak was coming from. Anyway, when it comes to Ford hose fittings, clamps and adapters I'd advise all to check these first when looking for a 'strange sound' or loss of power - especially with an increase in boost. I'm looking forward to driving it this weekend
  5. Many thanks to F6Tornado for his once again generous assistance. It was a deceiving fault. The standard hose looks ok - although definitely not in the best condition it would be pretty hard to pick the leak coming from there. I wouldn't of thought the tightened hoseclamp would of let that much air piss out when under pressure. The new Blue Silicon Hose certainly seals like buggery, and looks great too Now that Im back to 311rwkw (or more now ), the planets have aligned and life is good again
  6. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I definitely have less power than factory - I may aswell have an F6 XT at the moment F6Tornado and I are going to have a look tonight, so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it.
  7. I physically removed the small tube from BOV to brass Tpiece and it was 100% like brand new and fastened properly. Im thinking its the guage.
  8. The leak DOES sound like its coming from right behind the guages. I initially thought it was from the passenger side, but it seemed to be more centre. When I turn the car off, I hear a more high-pitched wooshing sound as the engine cuts. This sounds like its from the top of throttle body, or behind the guages against the firewall. Ive checked all visible hoses around the throttle body and none have come off. It might be a split, but I wouldnt think a small split would make such a loud noise. Certainly sounds like an entire hose has come off the noise is that noticeable.
  9. I had it on the dyno less than an hour beforehand and it made 311rwkw Then we left APC and I remember one time after feeding it it made a loud woosh sound like an aftermarket BOV but didnt think anything of it. Straight after this I parked it and didnt think about it. 45mins later when I took it out again I noticed the power loss for the first time. With this leak I'll be lucky if it has 150rwkw.
  10. I checked all the piping yesterday around the crossover and it all looks ok. The plastic turbo pipe was very loose, but I tightened that up and still no change. BOV piping looks fine. The 'woosh' sound seems to come on even before the turbo does... when the engine is under any kind of load starting at 1500rpm the sound starts and there is NO power. The turbo guage isn't moving at all. I can put my foot down in 5th gear at 60km/hr the sound will start.... no turbo but full load. Any other ideas?
  11. I check it out tomorrow, it definitely sounds like its coming from there - and the BOV piping looks fine. Thanks mate, I'll let you know
  12. Yep we replaced the clamp just on friday. I couldnt get under there today to see if it came off (too low hehe). Yeah I'll have another check tomorrow and see if any hoses have been pushed out. When you say crossover you mean intake piping ontop of throttle body?
  13. I got my tune done today and on the way home I came off throttle and heard what sounded like a loud aftermarket BOV coming from in front of the passenger seat. From then on I have no power and whenever the turbo spools I hear a loud 'wooosh' sound from the passenger side. It was on the dyno an hour earlier so I double checked the boost pipe to see it was put on properly to the BOV and its fine. Its connected to the T piece fine also. I couldnt get under to see if the intercooler hose had come off or was loose, but we replaced the hose clamp just on friday - and the sound DEFINITELY comes from the passenger side, near the BOV. Considering the BOV hoses are connected, does anyone have any ideas what can be causing this massive boost pressure leak? It was getting 16-17 psi on the dyno (and has been around that for the past 3 weeks) and now something has given and I can't see what it is. Any ideas?
  14. 3rd hey ? Nice work.... that's certainly a quick van you have mate!! Any utes do well?
  15. Sure does. Sorry for the confusion. Wouldnt using the handbrake cost you a few tenths off the line?
  16. Do you have any equally insightful and informative advice Simon?
  17. That is certainly a nice curve, well done.
  18. Thanks for the tips mate. For me the trick is the balancing act of clutch and throttle off launch in it's prime boost band. I need to learn to control my adrenalin and ease into it rather that thinking half track ahead of myself :D
  19. Damn mate... she certainly didn't like 2nd and 4th. Looks like you still won but So whats next on the cards now? Got someone in mind in Perth to look at it for you?
  20. 4" for the dump pipe.... I made the mistake of assuming they were readily available. Not to worry
  21. I would of had mine there if I was given a f*$king flange plate :cussing:
  22. When I ordered my F6 I was told Mandarine was no longer available. 15minutes later I was talking to FPV on the phone and was given the explanation why that was the case. Ask them to ring Ford so you can talk to someone and get them to tell you why you can't get your anymore. Either that or walk away, because if they can't make a simple phonecall for you then....
  23. I did mine at 4000, and what came out of it was as black as an ace of spades. Replaced it with full synthetic Penrite, and she runs great Pease of mind mate...
  24. Im using Penrite Syn 5w-60 in my F6 and its great. Still has a slight tappet noise at cold startup for about a second, but the needle sits only just below half while hot on idle and a nice 3/4 when driving.
  25. Damn I had no idea it was 40degrees out there lastnight, awesome time considering Greg. Mine feels like it's short about 30rwkw when its anything above 35degrees (bum-in-seat-ometer) so considering this and the el'stocko P9000's I think it's a great time. With a cooler night and a more suitable tune for the strip, I'd hate to think how close it'll get to the magical 11. For that night I might have to make the trip down there!
