    Aami

It's good to see AAMI did something for someone. I will never use them again. Before I bought the T I had a little 92 pulsar SSS. Owned from new and it went like a rocket for a car of that size. Still think it prob has the best straight 2 litre motor in it's class. Anyway.... Was driving home and at a set of lights where I go straight through a 4 wheel drive hung a right coming the other way across in front of me and I drove straight into his front left guard. AAMI were good at this point. I reported it to them and they organised for me to take the car to a few places of there's in the area for quotes. Couldn't wait for them to do it as wife was due in 4 weeks. So did the quote hunting for them. Got the car back and I was really happy with how it had all gone. However what happened next lost me as a customer forever. Took the car and a m8 to see the Goodies in Parramatta the second night after receiving the car back. It was a humid night and raining. So I put the airco on to demist the front window. After about 10 mins there was a terrible smell in the car and black smoke coming out from under the bonnet and the front window wasn't demisting. Parked at Parramatta and popped the bonnet and looked in. Couldn't really tell where it was coming from so just decided to take the car back to the repairer the next day to get them to look at it. They determined it to being the seal on the compressor had blown and shot the whole airco system, that had just been replaced to pieces. $2,200 to replace what had just been replaced and wanted me to pay. Not sure if you know or not. If the compressor blows it fires tiny shards of metal right through your airco system and is almost impossible to get out. I didn't know this but the guy who repaired the airco explained to me that when the car came in they needed to retrofit the airco with the new gas. Then he tells me that the compressor on this car was well known for not being able to handle the new gas but they did it anyway. Called AAMI at least 5 times over a period of 2 weeks asking them about the warranty for the crap job done on my car and that they knew it wouldn't handle the new gas and I was never informed of such. My mechanic went over the car and told me what had happened. He also called AAMI for me to let them know what had happened. Suffice it to say I got nothing (except a broken car back) and told that it wasn't there fault it could have gone at anytime it just chose now. Thanks for coming. I cancelled my policy right there. Can you tell I'm a little bitter and have let everyone I know never to use them. Oh one thing you may not know about AAMI before you sign up. They will use second hand parts to repair your vehicle not new. It is there policy. They do guarantee the second hand parts for the life of the car, but there still second hand. You won't read this on there website, just call them, they will confirm this. It's what makes your premium cheaper than the rest. The story isn't finished yet. The excess I payed at the beginning when they were deliberating over who was at fault took about 6 weeks. No biggie. However I had to call them twice in the following 2 weeks on top of the original 6 to remind them that they owed me money. Got it 3 weeks later. This is when I sold my little SSS and bought the T. My wife owns an 86 laser, and that is the car we were going to trade for the T. Then AAMI screwed that over and we had to keep the laser and sell the SSS. Really not happy about that. The laser is the biggest sh*tbox in the world, but a better car than what AAMI left me with.

  8. Hey Dyno! I would have thought you'd have setup a robot by now with automated responces.
  9. Thanks again Ben for your time and input to these queries. All the info you splash out on this site has been great. I am also putting Tranzmax Z in The T56 this weeked. You are a fountain of Lubrication wealth! I Hope your partner appreciates you. Wes.
  10. Thanks for that Adam. I'll take a look. Wes.
  11. Hey WBT56, I was reading a post regarding LSD oil and you mentioned that you used Shell LS 90. I have been to the Shell website and I am after some confirmation from you, regarding which is the correct oil. The 2 that may match your recomendation are. Shell Helix LSD 90 or Shell Spirax A 90 LS Could you please help out with which one is the right one. Regards, Wes.
  12. Hey Cobrav8, You are right. The 3000k service does not include an oil or filter change even here in Aus. Best you will get is a top up if it's low. When I went in for my 3000k, I told them I wanted an oil and filter change. The 3000k is just to make sure nothing is wrong with the car. If I was you I would change the oil myself at this stage. Wes.

    Manual Gear Change

I have the 6 spd and I can't believe how easy it is to drive. Had a SSS Pulsar before this and I thought it was nice. This kills it. I have found that the centre console cup holders with the rubber base are great for my sunglasses. No scratching.
  14. Where about's outside the car do you leave your keys?
