Had it done a while ago before I got the Alpine unit. It's terrible - you don't wanna go near it for even $20

Any idea how much it would cost? Have I asked enough questions and tried hard enough to hijack this thread?? Sorry... not my intention, just something I have been considering

If you have the money use splits - have Focal splits front and rear and for the price they sound really nice. I went with their polyglass range... http://www.focal-america.com/catalog/new_polyglass/main.htm I have 2 Alpine 12" type S running off MRD-M605 Mono Power Amplifier and I'm not happy with them. Have done a fair bit of tweaking and am not sure if it is the subs or if the box has not been made to the correct volume. Had it done professionally so I'm pretty annoyed that it isn't quite what I expected. Running the system off an Alpine CDA-9851 Head unit which is OK - bit overrated IMO Overall the system sounds nice - HUGE jump from factory, just expected a little more I guess... will keep playing till I get there! Hope it helps...

Who would have thought that posting the word starting with p and ending in rick would score you a warning??!?!! DAMN MAN!!!

Mattri - you work in Gladesville right?? I own the blueprint XR8 that drives past your car at least once a day... Went past last friday as you were jumpin in her, but you looked like you were wanting to get home for a beer so decided not to stop. Your car looks awesome man - awesome! Have to admit the pics on here don't do her justice - took me until the last pic to realise it was you! Have to have a chat to you some time cause (at the risk of sounding like a real *beep*) a few of the asthetic mods are some I was gonna go with. Anyway this is getting a little long, but as I said I drive paste her every day - and weeks later... I still slow down for a look more often than not!!!

I also own a second hand XR8, and yeah it has been done. Running two Kenwood 2 channels to power Focal splits in front and rear (keep away from those nasty 6x9 types IMO) and an Alpine mono powering 2 x 12" subs in the boot. For me the bass is too much (I like bass but this is shaking the sh*t out of the boot - and that's with a box of deadening in there!) needs some tweaking but overall the sound seems good. Can't recommend the Focal splits enough - very impressive! Goldie's audio setup is pretty impressive - one you tend to remember : )

Have seen these but I was under the impression that they were an FM transmitter meaning that they would output a lower quality signal (fm quality) Is that correct, or do you plug the ipod dock connector into the belkin device, and then the belkin into the aux in on the head unit?? Pretty sure this is the device: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage...oduct_Id=149006

The wait is so damn painful man! I haven't been around too long myself - but welcome along. Sounds like a nice ride!!

I have the aux input installed by Ford. The quality of the connection isn't great (don't get me wrong for the price it isn't too bad) The main problem that I have with it is that it is FAR quieter than playing a CD or radio - ie when you are listening to a CD at a nice volume, then change to AUX for the ipod, the volume is about HALF - even when the ipod is turned all the way up! I don't understand the reason for this - its bloody annoying, any solution to change it (like a pre amp or something) is pretty expensive at around $200. Yeah I know I can just turn up the volume on the head unit and it will be better, but this will just add noise to the signal!!! ANY SOLUTIONS WELCOMED!!!
