I think Raptor has summed things up perfectly when he said that drag racers use autos for a reason and street racers use manuals for a reason, I ordered my T in a manual because I like to take corners quicker than I should at times and a manual feels like it gives me more control of the car when doing that. But if my passion was for hammering it off the lights and getting to the speed limit as fast as I could the auto would have always been the way to go, there is the factor of driver ability to launch the car in a manual, but an auto is plant and go.
Cant believe you guys have to pay all that money for plates then pay more money every year just to have them, that's insane. for any queenslanders try going to www.ppq.com.au, this site lets you look at prices of every type of plate and also lets you see if they are available or not.
My boss runs nitrogen in the tyres of her supra, she swears by it, it costs her $5 per tyre to inflate but she said it never loses any air and the car drives alot better by it, also helps with tread wear. Its a good decision in my opinion because the tyres on a T cost a packet (especially the 18's) and if it helps you go further the $25 may be a good investment. I am planning to try it out and make my mind for myself though.
Turbo6man, What brand and size boost guage is it that has been fitted? Does anyone know if you can get after market guages that have a bue backing light like the standard xr6 guages, if anyone has seen the fast and furious you would be able to see the ones I am referring to in the rx7 that vin diesel is driving.
Ordered mine 01 Jan. It was scheduled for a 28 March build with delivery around mid April. The dealer told me there was delays on premium sound and the turbo plumbing which was pushing delivery times back. Hope this helps.
Check the distance to empty readings aswell on the trip computer, if the sender unit is dodgy it will more than likely be giving you some strange readings.
BOV not necessary it already has one (depends if you want the anoying woosh or not, turbo timers if you are too lazy to wait 30 seconds, and boost guages if you are planning to run heaps of boost through it which most people probably aren't, or you want it to dress the dash up a bit more.
It will be interesting to see how this product goes on the dyno in relation to heat soak, traditionally the engine will produce less horsepower on a second dyno run. (as I am sure you all know) But it will be good to see the severity of the power loss and the effectiveness of a carbon fibre heat shield.
Lowndes This may be a stupid question to some of you, but. When I ordered my silouette turbo, the blood orange colour wasn't on the options list for an XR6. Just wondering how you got it because I agree it is an awesome looking vehicle.
Spoke to a guy from dynamic turbos that comes into work, he said every turbo should be cooled no matter what car, truck, crane or boat it may be on, he also said that the fitting of turbo timers is a waste of money for any kind of turbo application especially an oil cooled one as in the xr6. Letting it idle for 30 - 60 seconds depending on how hard it has been driven will help with the turbos longevity. It would be a wise move to cool these things down as most turbo charger problems wont start until after the waranty period has ended.
I know this has been mentioned before and I do apologise for repeating old news, but I cant find the site that you go to to get pictures of your car while on the production line, does anyone have the link? I tried a search but didnt come up with squat. My silouhette xr6t was scheduled for a march 28 build and I want to see it. Thanks.
Would be a great idea to make this a standard function on every new ford, making it a bit more user friendly of course. Would also be a great statement from ford to say that they are aware of state governments stupidity when it come to some speeding fines, and this function can help make sure you dont get cought out.
