after the sale of the BA MKII I had, (which im happy I dont own anymore after 10 trips to 2 different paint shops, arguments with dealership and ford crc over the warranty paint job the car recieved, during a 9 month period), ive decided to buy another T cause I still think they are a great car. ill be waiting for the BF MKII. this time around I want to know my rights as a new car buy concerning factory paint defects. 1. if I spot paint defects and the time of pickup before I sign anything, do I have the right to reject the car completly? 2. can I make the dealership order another new car from the factory? 3. can I cancel the contract and get my deposit back? 4. is there any documents I could ask for that will show if the car has been repaired or painted after it has left the factory? as u can see, I dont want the dealership or anybody to touch up the paint work as it will never match and cause more problems, like I experienced with the BA. any views or help would be greatly appreciated.

replacing the tensioner arm will fix the niose. as the arm flexes it 'clicks', I assume its the rubber mounts. when I first went in for the problem I pointed to the arm and told them it needs replacing because its noisy but do u think they replaced it. instead they replaced the top pulley and the belt. picked the car up open the bonnet and noticed they didnt replace it so I went for a drive around the block came back and once again showed them what was making the noise. their excuse, 'we couldnt hear that noise before'. go figure.

ive noticed the local tyre/rim shop are selling the bf gtp rims. I was thinking about buying them but am not sure if they would be the real deal or fakes. so, is there any ford or fpv markings or stamps inside the rim to prove that they are originals? when ordered from factory, is the spare wheel a front or rear offset wheel? any info would be appreciated, thanks guys.

goin by the ford website, toxic is available now so it can be ordered on a mk11. personally I didnt really like citric acid when I first saw it but its grown on me. cant wait to see toxic in the flesh.
-
just to correct you pashen, KASHMIR isnt avaliable on the xr going by the ford websit. but I totally agree with you pashen. KASHMIR just looks wrong, although I havnt seen one in the flesh yet.

I do like the sound of the new t with the 6 speed auto. that's it, my minds made up. mandarin mkII for sale.

ford have update their website with 2 new colours: toxic (available september) and bionic (available october). toxic looks rather bright, but I like that. cant wait to see it in the flesh. bionic looks similar to the old blueprint to me. but I could be wrong.

anybody have info on some new colours? ive just noticed on the ford site, mandarin is gone and velocity is finishing in august. so they must be making way for new colours.

goobz your correct about the shimming. they install some washers somewhere I think. mine made the noise when I drove out of the dealer on day 1. it was fixed the week after. revheadrobbo, take it somewhere else, its a very common fault.

I havnt had the car for 6 months yet so its still under their name. im not a direct relative so that's y it couldnt be registered under my name. im planing to trade it in at the end of the year to get a 2006 xrt, maybe with the 6sp auto. so im thinking of not transfer the reg so I dont lose money on it. and I doubt it will b traded in for more than what I paid for it also.
-
I bought my xrt through a reletive who works for ford. I know after 6 months registered under their name I can transfer it to mine. now the questions is, can I also trade the car in for a new one after 6 months or do I have to wait for 1 year to pass?

Aswold111, I am very fussy with my cars and I keep them in tip top condition. I did think about putting up with the original bubble but I just couldnt. today I had a long discussion with 13ford rep. basicaly they r gonna give this panel shop one last try in getting it right, which I wasnt too happy about. he didnt really give me a choice. but did say that if im not happy this 4th time that it will b taken somwhere else. so I will be taking the car in on monday under protest. then I asked what type of conpensation will I get for all this inconvenience, said he cant really talk about that now but will when I get the car back. -
Advice Needed On Dealer Paint Repair

well just an update on whats goin on, and its quite a long continuing story. so the car goes in to get the passenger door and the boot spoiler painted, get it back 4 days later, firstly they only painted the top half of the door and u can clearly see the paint line just above the rubber mould. secondly theres a deep scratch in the newly painted door. the spolier had hair and dirt in the paint all over it, looked like to was painted outside in the wind. car goes in again the weekend after. get it back and the door is darker then the rest of the car, and the paint line is even more visable this time. the spoiler had paint runs on the corners. this is when I called 13ford to complian and to see if I can take the car elsewhere to get painted proply. all they said was ive got no choice where it goes because the dealer sub-contracts that work out and its there responsibility to get it right. so I contact the dealer to take car down to point out the problems in front of the panel shop manager. all he says is it will be done proply this time. car goes in for the 3rd time. 4 days later I pick it up last thursday from the panel shop. the manager tells me they painted the front guard and both doors this time. so I have a closer look and point out to him I can still see the paint line above the mould. he gives me a lame excuse 'its just a build up of clear'. I point out some dirt in the paint 'come back in 2 weeks when the paint hardens and we can polish them out'. at this stage I get the keys and I leave, I didnt want to have an argument with this monkey. over the weekend I have a real close look and I have written down over 20 inperfections. examples are: dirt in paint every where, misty overspray on headlight, tail light, windscreen and both door windows, paint line above mould still there, paint lines around the inside of the rear door, glue stuck on roof and bonnet, white dust all over the place ............. so today I speak with 13ford again and I let them have it for 20mins and demand a new car from factory and explain that this car looks so crap that its lost half its value. (4 months old 4400 km on clock). so he says to show the service manager the car and to tell him exactly what I think of it. and also its most likely I wont get a new car. so tomorrow I go back to the dealer and im gonna give him an ear full and demand a new car. I might also contact consumer affairs and see where I stand in getting a new car. has anybody got any sugestions on what I should do to help my cause? -

thanks for the feed back guys. the car goes in tomorrow to get painted. they will have the car for 2-3 days. im sure gonna miss driving it. ill report back and tell u all how it goes. -
I reported a small black bubble in the paint on the passeneger door to the dealer when I picked the car up. the dealre has got back to me and said ford have approved them to fix it. im guessing they will have to paint the whole door. now im worried about the paint shop the dealer uses wont be able to match the manderin paint. the bubble is barely noticable and I can put up with it. what do u guys reckon, should I get it painted? has anybody had experiance with dealer spray jobs? any advice will be appretiated.

well I called shannons and they wanted about 3k for insurance cause its considered a modded car now. stuff that. im not paying that much. ill take my chances with racv.
-
ive just done the bmc filter and typhoon snorkle mod and called racv to inform them, they said they wont accept the mods. no filter or airbox mods to turbo, supercharged or gas engines. looks like ill be changing to shannons now.

Congrats Chris. that's was a very long wait but its all worth it now. I waited 5 weeks and that was too long. ive got that same knock in the steering and the power steering shudder but am waiting for the 3000k check up for it to hopefully get fixed.
-
well, I got the job done. I took some of the advice on hand and took the airbox out but as for the battery I couldnt get the think out, tried pulling it out complete with the surrounding plastic but would not budge. but anyways did end up changing the globe with the battery in place. (and I dont have panzy hands, hahaha)
-
how difficult is it to change the main globes in the headlights? ive had a quick look and there doesnt seem to be much room behind there. do u have to move the battery/airbox to get in there? I want to install these bright white globes I have taken out of my old car. thanks guys.

picked up the car friday afternoon after a 5 week wait but it defiantly has been worth it. just love driving it. have noticed a few problems that I will have to bring up at the 3000 service. - sometimes a clunk in the steering when turning. - a viabrating squeek comming from around the woofer when the stereo is pumped up a bit. ( I will pull the trimming out from under the speakers and try fix it myself) - a small black bubble in the paint on the passenger door As promised heres a couple of photos of my beast.
