  1. I'm in! Well - you know what I mean..... And the best bit is a little visit to Power Torque Engines at Brendale next Wednesday for "La Capa Edite". Off with the ol' piggy back this Saturday, back to standard for a couple of days, then in with new flash and custom tune. Then this nice little run to bed it all together..... Any other Brisvagans joining in?
  2. Yeah, right Lumpy. Nothing green EVER grows in Pillar Valley, does it? Blonk - I'm with you down the Summerland Way across to the back turnoff at Lawrence... then detour off to Maclean as you lot continue on. Better "do the right thing".... my old's are nearing completion on this job. Your call when we leave... Might have to get Power Torque at Brendale on the job afore we go....mmmm.... checking account details....
  3. Called in and saw Paul yesterday avo - PTE Brendale is one nice setup! And now that the Ford Smart Arst Reflash has trashed all the good original work with my CAPA piggy back setup, looks like I'm heading in the direction of more $ for the custom setup. (Hope the CAPA guys will be kind to me on a trade up!) Rotor - might PM you ltr...
  4. I'm in..... will probably stay with the folks in Maclean for the duration - meet you all at Nymboida on the way in to Grafton on the Saturday a.m.. Will work out the logistics as we go closer to the time.... Who's organising the Brisbane run south? Any takers?

    Yamba

Iluka? Yamba? Still not a patch on Brooms Head..... me bein' a Maclean boy, well - you get a certain passion that just doesn't go away..... Just been thinking about the crazy dam things we did all those years ago on the Brooms Head Road..... Duke 900SS vs HO, and so on..... Wouldn't have seen a blue light in pink fit back then. Let alone another vehicle! Well...... not on the Brooms Head Road anyway. Different these days though! Lumpy - I'll PM you next time I'm coming down to visit the ol' folks....
  6. Great news guys - well done to all on your PBs! Fantastic work. (Spent last weekend working with the Moonshine Bandit crew at WBank - so my leesh was a little short this last couple of days.) Track conditions are certainly on the up - if only some guys would build stuff that doesn't spray oil from .............. SCOTTY - tell us more about the shiftkits addition.... worth the $??? And tightens up the shifts as per the advert?
  7. Yeah - thought I'd got away "ok" after my uninvited "edit" at the last service. Couple of weeks since then and just had a chance to a 500K round trip up the coast and back. It's gone to crap - all the good setup work with the CAPA piggy(which has gone V nicely since new) is now stuffed..... hestitation's with the cruise on going up hills, strange things happening on full power overtaking.... and so on. So - looks like the edit is on it's way. Wonder if CAPA are doing trade-in's for the old magic black boxes...????? ps - thankyou Ford Australia. Great work.
  8. Thing that worried me was the 2 minute response time of the crews to an obviously knocked around and up on it's side BJR car..... fire marshalls? nowhere to be seen... Paramedics? in a car responding from pit exit. Mmmmm - reckon the boys deserve better back up than that If the Auckland circuit can't get their act together... they should move on.
  9. Just checked mine.... 2 out of four with a split across the tread almost identical. Don't know how I've missed those. Looks like I'm on the way back to not only complain about the recent "warranty upagrade flash" , but also the tyres....
  10. Forget Ford offering to help with the auto trans cooler - went down that track last week and got an almost perfect blank look So - aftermarket is the go. Dazza - let us all know how the Davies Craig install goes.... with piccies if you can! BTW - (asked this before but got no replies....) anyone had any auto strengthening / rebuild work done in Brisbane... any recommendations on who knows their stuff for the T auto?
  11. Yep - add me to the list..... love the shift light / background colour change idea too. Pretzel - guess this is driven by the menu button as an alternative screen. How are you planning to swap between standard and alternate displays? ps - keep the boost and oil in too.... I love my clock!
  12. The bit that got my attention was our old mate Telly Hill rushing over and patting Hoppers on the head, while the other poor buggr was in a tonic clonic seizure on the ground! Good on you Manly - with those pair as the brains trust, heaven help poor old Dessy Hasler......
  13. Thanks Ross..... I'm only running a CAPA piggy box (9lb), so not a huge issue. Car seems no different, thank goodness.... John
  14. Mine went in today for a slushbox flush (yes - at 25K ks it's the best medicine. And yes, the metallic grinding noises have gone - but for how long.... ) and guess what: the boys helped themselves without so much as "please" or "can we" and completed a "warranty flash upgrade" termed as "PRGC309" (program C309?). Would this be the culprit causing all the pain? Anyone know what it's content is?
  15. Thing that's a worryabout some of the pods is the fact it's sucking air from under the bonnet - not from out in front. Temperature variation? So - CHEAP? you want cheap?? Cheap and nasty solution follows: leave the standard cai mouth and box in place. But - add some more breathing tubes. Source tubing of the appropriate size - say around 50 - 70mm corrugated, coupled to flexible rubber connectors. Cut into the front of the original airbox (lower section below the filter, duh) the number of required holes with a hole saw - you can probably fit up to 4, though 2 is sufficient. Bond in place with flexi. Tie mounts were required in a couple of spots. It's all tucked away - virtually unnoticeable. Neat. Looks standard. Thread the hoses up round through headlight opening in front of the radiator behind the upper grill, into the cold air. With the grill removed - cut off at the right length to keep them out of site begind the grill. Even at idle, they still have quite evident air flow. Total cost - $15 for @9 RWKW . a/ temperature intake variation compared to under bonnet suckers is up to 40C in traffic b/ volumetric intake at the air end improved by @80% - calculated by adding together the radii of the said pipework downstream from the filter and subtracting the original. Of course, all is limited by the tube size upstream from the filter.... Anyway's - $15 anyone?

    Xr6t Road Noise

Either that, or dump the Zepplin in favour of Black Sabbath or Deep Purple. (Gawd - my age shows again..... ) Would reckon the kids should notice a difference. Beats the heck out of Bob The Builder. From one newby to another - welcome....
  17. Looks reasonably safe at this stage.... count me in for 1 T car plus 2 or possibly 3 bods for the Sunday. Saturday is full of evil things the Mrs wants to do.... argh ....

    Welcome

Great to see the CAPA guys in and going.... well done. Hope we can explore some good stuff with their added input - and in turn - they get some feedback that's a help to all of us.
  19. Looks good guys - hope I can make it.... just to say I've done a run at the 'Bank and get the printed slip will be awesome. Keep us updated on changes / news, and - I guess, who to look for. (That should cause a variety of responses.... who looks like what... etc)
  20. Bit of an extension on the thread..... but... would be great if we could post up the auto repairers / builders worth their salt in Bris / Syd / Melb.... and what they have up their collective sleeves with new bits and ideas that make the 300rwkw barrier "not so much a worry" in terms of abliterating the innids of the box in question. Mine's just turning over 25Kk's, and has that noisy sad sound associated with ............ and yes - it's booked for an fluid change. Can hardly wait to see what's in it..... As another thread suggested recently - auto's are strictly 20,000 k fluid changes.
  21. OK - so Ken - you're saying that there IS an aftermarket solution that will slot in, supplied firstly from the lower line going to the radiator (from the trans...), then to that port through the radiator and return....?
  22. Just checked my May 04 T.... auto trans cooler is via the radiator (do you reckon that would heat it up or cool it down?? Anyone know the temp gradient differential from one to the other?), with power steering cooler in front of the radiator above the intercooler. So - with the general concensus being a cooler is a must with anything that's even mildly warmed - what are the options? The guys I spoke to at Ford last week gave me the almost perfect blank look.... ..... so after market? And who from?
  23. C'mon guys - the answer is obvious. An Auto Typhoon. Cruise, Climate and auto - it fits perfectly. Work up another 50nm on top of the 550 and it's still no issue for the old slushie....
