Unknown condition (unless it's coming from a reputable suplier) Chinese Garrett copy (Honeywell get the Garrett turbo made in China but have heard that some other factory was making cheaper knock-offs --- scarey) ............. Having said that, deffinately go the 82 coz you keep coming back to that in most of your posts so if you go another turbo now, you'll probably always wonder "what if" (if your anything like me) but IMHO, get it from a real shop just for the 'peace of mind' factor

  9. WPMO Just finished writing 5 and a half thousand lines of code which are all approx 2000 characters long and I went to close the program down and when it asked me to save the file, I PRESSED NO. I don't have auto save on that program either.............what a pisser. Guess what I'm doing tomorrow :(
  10. The GTX is (I think) the most common upgrade on the FG and bolts straight in. The only things you'll have to change is the front joiner - the standard GT has a 3" and the GTX has a 4" inlet. The other thing to watch out for is the actuator bracket. To line up the rod properly, you may have to give it a bend or re drill the mounting holes. I bought a universal bracket from Sonic Performance (MTQ) and this made it piss easy. You will also loose a heap of coolant so that will need replacing as well. I fitted a gtx..76 on Friday morning (& by "I fitted" I mean Stigmata fitted it for me....hehe) and it just falls into place. The 76 will spool the same as the stock snail whilst the 82 will start to spool 'a little' bit later. On 98 properly tuned, the 76 will give around 350-360 and the 82 will give about 20 more. On E85, 420+ for the 76 and 440-460 (I think) for the 82. Think of your fuel pump as well and make sure it's capable of pumping enough fuel if you're going E85

  13. Same as what I had with the GT.....full Nizpoo and a walbro 341. Besides the turbo, the ONLY other change will be - I am pissing off the XR8 air box bottom half and snorkel coz I've decided that I hate the look of it. There isn't much left of the front of the standard box botton coz I went at it with the holesaw yesterday . I'm gunna make up a blocker of some sort to put on the left (engine) side of the air box so it can only take air from the headlight and hopefully that'll pull as much air as the xr8 did but will look a whole lot nicer. OMFG: how gay does that sound........I like pretty things. lol I DO put the KPM Streetfighter box on for car shows coz I reckon that's pretty.........but a bit wanky at the same time. The 341 fuel pump will be at its limits I reckon with the GTX running on 98 (360 seems the norm *ish with the gtx) so if I go an e85 tune -- which I reckon I will do come spring time this year -- I'll have to swap it out for a 400 (or something like). .............. I just went down to Subway to get me some meataballz and fark it's hard to keep off boost. On the drive home from Adelaide this arvo it felt like it was boosting about 300 rpm earlier than the Pit Lane 15psi tune with the GT was and on the way home just then I worked out that it is spooling in second 5 or 600 rpm sooner..obviously this will change once it's re-tuned but I reckon that that shows that the GTX will spool at (pretty well) the exact same time as the GT #noextralagtime ftw Quick edit It feels sooooooo smooth with the Pit Lane tune in it...........I wanna go for another drive ---------- NO....m u s t resist

  17. Haven't given it a kick yet Bomber. Went up to 10psi once on the way home and all was silent. Gunna keep off boost completely from now on until it's tuned

  19. Yeah Jon ( Stigmata ) fitted it for me this morning. OT -- sorry It was great to catch up with him coz I haven't seen him for months coz ... well ... sh*t happens. All fitted. Quick and easy. Did I mention quick. Makes sense I suppose coz he has swapped out a few turbos in his time. Didn't swap the oil feed line around to the way it 'should' be (my filter is hard up against the head on the inlet side) coz too hard without a hoist. Engine bay looks stock. Just the way I like it.. I'll get it tuned -- hopefully -- next week and then I'll get my build thread cleaned up and do a writeup as the turbo is the ONLY thing that was changed.   20. I just moved mine from the coffee table in the Lounge room where it has lived in its box for the last 6 and a half months. It can live - in its box - in the boot of the car for the next 14 hours

It's a bit of guess work to know what's going on inside your trans at any given time whether you're cruising, driving in a 'spirited' manner or going down the quarter mile and even with the 98 tune, there is a chance of something going wrong. A couple of normal things are....... Input shaft breaking - usually on the 2nd to 3rd upchange (iirc) Clutches not wanting to behave. This happened to an SA member on the weekend and the car couldn't - wouldn't go into 4th. At said above, watch for axel tramp off the line. If you feel the back starting to bounce, abort the run......once you have everything under control, use the rest of the track to practice your gear changes. Oh and BTW E85 all the way. Get the best time you can and if you enjoy going down the drag strip in your car, start saving to get the trans rebuilt.
