Edit has made it's way up higher on the Christmas list.

Yesterday coming home via the normal back road I entered into a round a bout. As I entered there was a small grey car already in the bout I thought about giving way to. But no, just put the foot down, it kicked back and I soon heard the turbo spooling. Looked in the mirror and this small grey car was stuck up my rear. I held the throttle to 120klm at which time a small gap appeared between us. I didn't want to out race this other car just wanted to prove I could out gun it. All I could tell of the car was that it had a VW badge in the grille. When I turned off I spotted a trade plate on the rear, so today I went past the VW dealer and there it was a Golf GTI. That was a shock to be kept up with in a small car. But now I have read the specs I can see how. Size does matter.

Great to hear you allowed the $$$$ for a custom tune. Hope to be joining the edit list myself soon.

This is a Chart I found when looking into what to expect from a cusom tune on a standart XR6T with only edit. I know its not exactly what you have but I think you will notice the difference between CAPA std maps and what a custom tune can do for you. I'm hoping for this sort of results soon.

I are trying to say that compressed air has more Nitrogen???????????

I agree totally with dingah2, economy whise I get the same for 92,95 and 98 RON. If you are thinking of edit then I would get it tuned for 95 if that's what you get on the card. Eventually 92 is to be phased out and then 95 will be the lowest standard. Just like in other countries.

The one thing I forgot in the other post was. Before taking the car to the dealer I took off the wheel lock nuts and put the std nuts back on, so they can rotate the wheels. When I went to replace the lock nuts I was shocked to find that one std nut on the right rear was only finger tight. It just happened that a 1 in 5 chance I chose that nut to take off for the lock nut. I phoned the dealer and advised them of what I found. I wonder if anyone will respond to me. I won't stay at home waiting for the phone to ring.

Just had the 30,000 service done. Oil filter $9.44 Washer solution $1.02 Wiper blades $13.66 Shop supplies & Enviromental $13.10 Oil FMX 15W/40 (Magnatec) $52.50 Roatate & Balance wheels Labour total $159.60 GST $ 24.93 Total amount $274.25 I was surprised that as I said I would be back at 1.30pm to pick up the car, I was SMSed that it was ready after 2.5hrs, 11.00am. I always thought they did the more demanding customers first. And yes I did check that the Turbo heat shield had atleast been taken off. This was to tighten the exhaust/turbo and inlet bolts that has to be done on the T only models.

Friend at work had the brake shudder issue at last. He car was booked it in for the a service and brake shudder fix. When he came to pick up the car he was told the discs were machined and he would be charged for that machining. When he queried this, he was told that it wasn't a warranty claim as the brakes are only covered up to 75,000 klm. He accepted this as went out to the car. When he sat in he saw the speedo said 74,687 klm. He went back and spoke to the dealer who said he made a mistake and the brakes are only covered to 50,000 klm. Not being happy with this change he rang Ford who also said 50,000. After 30 mins on the phone Ford agreed to pay for the machining. Such comments from Ford were: Its not a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. We wouldn't want to disclose to the public the 50,000 klm warranty on the brakes. Different parts have different warranty periods. So what does the warranty cover?? Who realy knows.

about 1cm on each side of the pad. Why would you want to chamfer them? They will be worse off than they are now. Just going by your own comment; Moral of the story: When buying the PBR kits, ask for the chamferred pads, as they will work better than the un-chamferred pads. The way I read this you are saying the Chamferred pads are better????
-
How much of a chamfer do they put on the pads? Is it only on the leading edge? Can I chamfer the PBR pads that came with the kit I just installed?
-
Don't waste your time doing the CAI mod it won't gain you anything unless your going over 260kw. Plenty of truth to support this on this forum. Go the edit and custom tune. If you want to go further then consider stage 2 kits available, don't go doing home made hacks. Melbourne based places for edit in no particular order, Horse power factory, Amberley Autos Nizpro Wog tune CAPA others search the forum

I thought the 100% Nitrogen means that there isn't as much variation in tyre pressure from cold to hot. I happy to use the 70% nitrogen, it's free.

Sorry, but the water run from the back edge of the XR6 photo will only get you a 9.9 out of 10. Just joking looks nice and clean.

I have been told that if I put a XR8 cluster into a XT or XR6 then the tacho will read incorrectly. Because it will not be getting the correct number of pulses. In the good old days you had a selector for the number of cylinders for the after market tachos. I know the new cluster wouldn't have this. I have been able to find a XR8 cluster but don't want to buy it if the tacho is not going to be correct. Any ideas????

The manual states; Only use unleaded petrol with a minimum octane rating of 91 RON. XR Turbo Only: Premium unleaded petrol with a minimum octane rating of 95 RON is recommended for maximum performance. The vehicle is also calibrated to run on unleaded petrol.

Question for dynowog, or others who are experts on the Dyno. I know that PULP fuel is suppost to give your more km/100k over std ULP. What are the results with KW though. Would my engine factory ECU, give the same power on ULP as PULP at say up to 4000 rpm?? Or what would you expect the difference to be? Again currently using Vaporate, and they claim I should get better km/100k and a possible increase in power on std ULP. So far the readings I am getting km/100k on ULP are better than I was getting on Optimax. Colin

Here are photo's of the std rear and the PBR rear. The std rear calliper sits exactly the same as the PBR rear does. I agree there is the brake dust now with the PBR's that wasn't there with the original pads. But nowhere near the amount of dust compared to the new Ford replacement pads.

Since new till now 28500 klms, 11.4881 l/100k
