  1. Just had cause to claim a warranty on the window tint that's on the wifes Mazda. It was installed by the local dealer of Sungaurd products. When installed I recieved the warrany card which stated it has a lifetime warranty. When making the claim I read further into the warranty. Lifetime warranty to the original owner of the car. So too bad if you were the second owner? So check what warranty there is on the product.
  2. Do asearch on 15000 there are many threads
  3. The entire reason Ford put the 1600kg rating is because of the restricted airflow into the radiator caused by the intercooler. This was in an Autospeed mag test drive of the XR6T when they came out. I still have the article if you want it.
  4. As I said these calcs were done on the base price of the model. I agree totally, add $4000 worth or options and you'll be lucky to see 50% of that when you trade it in. Isn't it funny though how your $4000 worth of options are worth $4000 when the dealer goes to sell the car again.
  5. I too can remember those days as a kid. When my father parked under the Arts Centre in Melbourne and the car park was full it was normal practice to park behind already parked cars and leave the keys on the on the visor. That was so if a car you were blocking wanted to get out the attendant was able to move your car. Worked OK in those days.
  6. OK here are the figures based on the Glasses guide and Redbook. I took the average trade in price and average private sale price for each car according to the price guides. I then averaged both those figures to come up with the final figure. I know this may not be the prefered pricing methord, but I did apply the calcs exacly the same to both cars so they are comparative. This was based on 6 speed manual cars made in October 2004, calculated to 2006. Typhoon Price when new $58900 Dollar depreciation $18437 Percentage depreciation 31.30% XR6 Turbo Price when new $46360 Dollar depreciation $18335 Percentage depreciation 39.55% So the figures show the $ value of depreciation to be close enough the same.
  7. The only sure thing between the Ghia and the XR6T is that the Ghia resale value drops a lot quicker than the XR6T. When I bought my T the price drop in the first year was around 16%, and the Ghia was 38%. You can't go wrong with the luxury pack in a XR6 Turbo. I bought mine just before it was available, and wished I had waited.
  8. I couldn't agree more about taking note of the klm's when you drop the car off. Anyway to fix a headlight problem it should only gain about 2km to move it around the dealership. Associate at work took his XR in for an idle problem. SO the mechanic took it for a test drive. Too check and idle problem?????? After a while an ambulance goes down the the same road , light and sirens, NO more XR. Written off. Dealer found an identicle XR to replace it with. I think the standard headlights are great. I put +50 globes in the Statesman I had and the XR lights are better than the Statesmans.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Exactly what mine did at 24,000km. Please keep us informed as to how many km's you do before it returns. I an particularly interested to know as this would confirm my reason for changing to the PBR's. Just remeber that at 50,000km your on your own. that's the end of the Ford warranty on brakes.
  10. Re one of the comments above "a dove". Laugh you may but lucky I had the lower grill. Hit a crow and that pushed the lower grill in but never got to the intercooler. When I got home staightened it with a hammer and block of wood, quick spray of black and put the grill back in position. The grill was the open holed flat laser cut version, not the perforated mesh with the small holes. So it was easy to repair and not replace.
  11. Found this on a forum. To disarm siren: Turn a valid key to the Ignition position for more than two seconds, then turn the key to the Off position. After one second and before three seconds disconnect the BEM fuse or the battery terminal. Hope this helps!!
  12. I found the most economic speed to be 81km/hr. Just when the overdrive kicks in. Boring but I had time to spare on a trip one day. Travel with the cruise on the highway saves on fuel and speeding fines. Having the auto change under 2000 rpm could help but remember when yuor at 100klm/hr your at 2000 rpm anyway, unlike the NA version at 1750 rpm. My worst 12.9/100, and the best over 520km was 9.85/100 on cruise. I tend to agree with others that you don't buy a T and then look to save money on fuel, otherwise you would have bought the NA version.
  13. Just had 6 days in Hobart. Never saw a XR6 Turbo, most were XR8's that I saw. With the winding roads in Tassie I couldn't see anyone going fast enough for a T or V8 I'm sorry to say. The roads were interesting up the east coast, a 35km corner with a 45 degree angle up as you exit the corner. Must be hard on fuel economy. The price of fuel was $1.20 - $1.23 during the week, but I think gas was $0.71. I was surprised to see Police cars in various colours. But was even more surprised to see an unmarked Police car which was a silver Expensive Daewoo Vectra CD. All that was noticable was the hidden red and blue lights behind the front and rear windows.
  14. Great post Cro. Explains all the options available, and lets people do a bit of their own reaserch on prices. Not meaning to say you should have included prices. Its pointless me telling people my prices when I am in a different state, same goes for you I guess.
  15. I just use Magnatec and change oil and filter every 7500km. Even if you go to full synthetic they still recommend to change every 7500km, so why pay for to do the same job? http://www.castrol.com/castrol/productdeta...ntentId=6008598 My vehicle is under a different lease company and they do pay for the extra oil changes. Have a search for the word "synthetic" as there are a few threads on this subject.
  16. The brake system is only covered for 50,000km. After that there is no warranty, that's right NO 3 years on brakes. A friend was knocked back by the dealer at 75000km, rang Ford Customer Service, was told the same, and after 30mins they agreed to cover the cost of the machining done. Also for braided lines I found this in the Ford Mods Forum. Don't know if they have them for the BA. Hey Guys And Gals, FernTree Gully Auto Salvage now have Braided brake lines available for EA-ED and EF-EL They are available in: Red Blue Black Grey Full sets for front and rear are available at $280 a set Inc Freight anywhere in Australia for Fordmods Members Call us or email us today (03) 9758 6900 or ftgautosalvage@optusnet.com.au
  17. DBA do release a 5000 series 2 piece rotor for the BA. I enquired through a company in Sydney that is selling the AP brake upgrade for the BA. It consisted of 365mm front DBA 5000 series rotors, 6 piston AP calipers for front, and DBA 5000 series rotors for rear and 4 piston AP calipers. Jason. Just wondering are you sure on the diameter being 365mm. If so what size rims do you have to have to fit these rotors. I have the std 17" Ford rims and have fitted the PBR performance kit and the fronts only just clear the wheel weights. The PBR fronts are 325mm diameter, so I guess they dont fit a 17" wheel. New brakes and new rims?
  18. Currently 32,000km out of this set and 4mm depth left on all tyres.
  19. I know from experiance that dealers don't want to do things out of the ordinary. I asked the local dealer about doing the extra oil and filter change between the regular services. I was told was that it is the same as the 15,000km service and that is what I would be charged. Couldn't calculate a price for just oil and filter.
  20. Are Ford supplying and fitting GT springs because they want to? Is it a recall? Where can we get it done for free under warranty?
  21. I'm sure this has been discussed in another thread. Opinion is that tyres should be rotated front to rear every 15,000km, at each service. A few dealers will say it's not necessary as there is not sign of wear yet. By the time you see uneven wear it's getting too late. There are tread wear indicators built into the tyres to show when you should replace the tyres.
  22. From what I read in threads on the Nizpro site I believe their springs would be better. Threads on the Nizpro site from Simon state that the V8 springs are close to spring bind and that is why Nizpro had their own springs made. These are a stronger spring but cannot be compressed to cause spring bind.
  23. Similar problem with a mates car. Took it to the dealer, they replaced the struts (worked for a while), adjusted the boot lock (couldn't get the boot open then), wound up the bump stops either side of the boot lid (fixed). The excuse is that the wieght of the spoiler doesn't let the lid lift enough.
  24. My towbar was made in Boronia Towbars (03 9752 2642). There are quite a few dealers they mention as fitting stations. I guess Ford make it easy for the owner to fit the neck. With this neck you have to be careful tightnening the bolts because of the restriction of the bumper. But for thet small hastle I think it looks a lot better.
  25. Had an aftermarket 1600kg towbar fitted for around $200. I decided not to put the Ford towbar on as I didn't like the look of the gap left in the bumper with the 1600kg towbar. When the neck is removed. When the neck is removed for my towbar the bumper cover plate inserts back into the bumper giving the no towbar smooth look. As a casual user of a towbar I take it off when not in use, and insert the cover. Unlike the people who leave them on as a parking aid, rear mini bullbar and shin breaker. Now there's a thought do those people also have their fog lights on all the time??
