Recieved an email last night from the guy saying that he has been able to flash the car back to factory and is now selling the box.
-
Just out of interest I check ebay for Capa edit boxes now and then. Found one for sale today and contacted the seller. The add basically said used on my XR8 once and no longer required since I have traded the car. Comes complete with 3 tunes ready to simply plug in and use. So I asked if the original flash was put back onto the car. NO it hadn't. I advised the seller the box cannot be used on any car now as it would be locked to the sold XR8. The add dissappeared from ebay not long after my message. I guess I saved him the grief, and the abuse of a very unhappy buyer.

Only thing I suggest is to spend the extra $250 to get the matching spare. To me this is cheap insurance if you damage a rim

I had the PBR braided hoses installed as part of the kit. When the Ford recall came out I was told they were going to replace the hoses to which I told them not because my hoses were better. They did not change the hoses but they charged Ford for the work. Trust you dealer???

Ive had a stink from the air con system before. Found by using the aircon more it kept it away, The dealer said its a common problem. They checked the drain lines from the air con condenser area and they were clear, no stale water.

I think if you have had experience with rotors, the greasing, the taking off wheels and climbing into wheel arches etc and want to get your hands dirty its possible. It cost me $200 to have the kit installed by my local mechanic and that included 2x500ml of PBR Gold dot brake fluid that you have to use. They are fantastic and I have been saved once I think all because I upgraded the brakes.

One of the guys I work with has installed a XR6 front on his XT ute. He then found the bar doesn't come with the XR6 lights which are bigger. Of course doesnt come with fog lighs. Doesnt come with the wiring loom for the fog lights, or the switch for the dash, something to do with XT utes having a heavy duty loom. So it can be done, and his car does look better for it, but hate to say its still a XT at trade in time. Colin

Sorry but have to ask, is it a good thing to take a new engine 300kls and run it to 6000rpm.
-
Best purchase at work so far was $52900 GE Turbo with19" wheeels on novated lease
-
The quicker they start booking people in Victoria now that is law the better. I live in the counrty and we have quite a few days of severe fog and they are great in those conditions. Currently 1 in every 4 cars in my area have the fog lights on for no good reason. Some idiots have fogs on with the parking lights on only. Bookem Danno Bookem, raise as much revenue as you like

Hate to seam to be hijacking this thread but? I looked up the options for the XR6 Turbo, optional transmission and engine oil coolers. There is just a - listed for the G6E Turbo. Does anyone know if the coolers are available or come std, seams strange they don't even get a mention.
-
Took the wife to the dealer and showed her the XR6 and the G6E The dealer hasn't got any turbo models in yet. She loves the G6E over the XR6, she likes the seats consideably more not being sports type So I guess that's what I will end up with, lol

I tried to get a price from the local Ford dealer to change oil and filter only. This was too hard for them to do. All they could quote was the 15,000klm service price. So I went to an independant garage who for $95 provided oil and did the work for me. I provided a genuine Ford oil filter, I guess because then Ford can't claim a crappy brand filter caused and engine problem. As for changing oil and filter yourself, yes you can. But I did that once too and found it difficult to get under and work with the car level and then get the old oil drain container out. So for about $40 labour I get it done.

I agree totally with you Greg. I can't see why Ford force the 19" wheels on people wanting the Lux pack. Since when was Luxury at the expence of a harder ride. The cost of 19" tyres is rediculous, Ive asked the guys here at work with Clubby's. Also comes the comparision of spending $5000 on what will still be looked at as an XR. Its never going to be a G6E no matter what you add to it. So in my book if you want what a G6E has then buy a G6E. I will be either getting a XR6 Turbo with premium sound or a G6E Turbo

Well just had the car returned from Ford after the replacement of the heater module. All covered under the xtended warranty. I must admit the damper aren't as noisey changing now. All the dash appears to have gone back together ok. BUT in saying that there were 2 30mm plated screws on the back floor. So I returned to the dealer and asked them to explain where they came from. The mechanic recognised them as the screws that hold the rear of the console down. Can anyone tell me if I get the car serviced elsewhere does that effect the extended warranty?
-
Well the car went into Ford today. Within 2hrs I recieved a call to say the H.I.M. (heater interface module????) has to be replaced and as it is an extended warrenty claim they have to get Ford approval. So I had to book the car in again next week to have the obvious work done.

that's a good idea to get the shaft replaced regardless, thanks. The mechanic told the service guy to book it in for a day. I said I would have to let them know which day was suitable. The mechanic left me with the service guy. The SG then said they would require the car for 2 days just as a precaution if they found anything else. The SG said its ok because he would arrange a courtesy car. That of course then limits me to what day the car was available. So I just booked the single day over the phone, so lets see what happens.

The saga continues. The problem with the air vents not changing has happened 6 times since my first post. Each time the next day everything works as it should and always on a weekend. Well last week is did it on a Monday so I into the dealer and the head mechanic climbed under the dash and agreed the only thing to do is pull the dash and see what the problem is. So this Wednesday in it goes for the work which I have checked and in covered under the extended warranty I bought. I know and Ive heard all the warnings it won't go back together the same and rattles. But its annoying and I would rather get it fixed while the warranty is still good.
-
that's interesting as when I had my 45,000 service I read on the things done, REPLACE OIL FILLER CAP. It didn't cost me anything underwarranty so I didn't question it at the time.
-
I have had exactly the same problem with my 04 T. I went to the dealer and they replaced the throttle possition sensor, all fixed. They were able to test it some how and found it faulty. Six months same thing again. This time the tested and found the same problem, very very rare they told me and too have 2 of them fault on the same car. They replaced it again and all fixed again and that was over a year ago. So I would imagine you would be under warranty so take it back and tell them it rev's its head off starting first time.

Recieved an answer back from a seller. He says he is keeping the go fast tune flashed to his car and selling the box as is. Guess he thought you can just pass it from car to car for nothing. I have advised him it can't be used by others and to do some checking himself.

Just out of curiosity I searched for Capa on ebay. Of course there were a few units for sale and obviously some people have no idea of the restricitions on selling them such as; Vehicle has to be returned to factory tune, Unit had to be reset for another VIN vehicle. One seller said he has only used 1 tune so it still has 2 left that the purchaser can use before it needs to be reset. Enough to put you of a second hand unit

I wasn't able to get to the motor show I think it's great some pics are available. Even though all they do is show me what I missed out on, damn. Question there is one pic which shows what I think is the std fpv dash and in the back ground you can see the GT. Can someone tel what car the das pic is from?

Give Damien a call at final inspection. I haven't had my car detailed by him as yet, but I have bought products from him and followed his advice which has been great. Remeoved all the marks from my T due to the industrial area I live in. He has a large following on the Mazda forum and comes well recommended from there. He does a lot of expensive car detailing and works a fair bit I think for Audi in the city with their cars. http://www.finalinspection.com.au/

I still have 2 years of extended warranty on mine so I will hold on until the new V6 version is out also. The turbo version overseas in the Lincon is 300KW plus.
