  1. To M6 XR6T, To us initiated could you please give a discription as to what each of the graphs actually should tell us. Regards Colin
  2. I guessed it could have been from a previous tune. I am about to edit and also was interested in the more conservative tunes. I have always run with 98 RON fuel either Mobil or Shell. So it was interesting to hear that you obtained shuch good results on 95 RON. The 3 edit tunes I was thinking of are, 98 Power 98 Economy 95 Power I don't know if there would be much if any difference between the 3, has anyone tried these sort of tunes? Regards Colin
  3. Q regarding your signatue?? White '05 MkII M6 XR6T, 445+rwhp Tuned with my own SCT Advantage software If you are now running 279 rwkw then 279/0.746 = 373 rwhp. .
  4. I had a similar incident a few years ago. As you said you could see it comming. I actually got to accellerate and was half way accross the intersection before getting hit. He was helping the navigator read the map at the time. This came out in the court. Colin
  5. I drive the same route to work every day it is open road 35 klm round trip. I drop the kids of at school, again open road apart from the school zone. My driving style hasn't changed. I must admit I am finding it difficult to control the weather conditions. Colin
  6. Now why couldn't some else on the Forum have tried Vaporote before I did. It appears to work on Commodores going by the testimonials. Colin
  7. Soory to see the cars damaged, hope all passangers are okay. Initially I miss read your post. I thought you said yours was $1500. More like $3000+ I guess. Colin

    Fuel Savers

    Sorry already replied
  9. I am using the Vaporate device in my XR6 Turbo at present. Have a read of this thread, I have given my report of using Vaporate. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19943 Colin
  10. I'll agree with faygun that the 4504 series are better than the std DBA's. The brake shudder issues I have read are from people who put the 504 on not the better rotors 4504. Been waiting for the pic's faygun. Colin
  11. My PBR kit cost me $1800 from Bursons Autoparts Vic. I decided not to go the DBA rotor direction after reading forum posts saying the problem restarted. Anyway by going the PBR kit you get larger fronts than standard. I was surprised at the difference. Not a sudden braking, but definetly lost that soft/spongy feel. I hadn't noticed it until I changed. Colin

    Broadband

As was suggested go the whilpool site and search for plans that are available to your location. I am in country Vic and even there we pay less than $40 for unlimited.
  13. Here's one in Grey I prepared earlier. I think it does make the boot look finished, and also help dampen noise in that area.

I would be concerned that they did everthing. As I mentioned the labour for a 15000 is 2 hours by the book $130+. The tightening of the inlet and outlet manifolds is 54 minutes and has to be atleast $65. This is the item most dealerst don't do, because they service the T the same as a normal XR6. Did your invoice detail what was done? every thing gets done properly, my sister in law is the one who does the invoices, labour is only $38 a hour, what some of you blokes pay amazes me I'd be jacking up about them sort of prices. ask ducatijb what he thinks of tilfords in hobart they take some beating WOW, at $38 per hour I might put the car on the boat and bring it over for the next service. The fleet company I go through has a special rate of $60-$70 per hour. Another thought what is the conversion ratio into Australian Dollars.

And I bet the apprentice that actually did the work recieved $20/hr. Sorry I forgot the dealer has overheads to pay for.
  16. The Vaporate claim is by preheating the fuel at the tip of the injector then it increases the fuel expansion in the combustion chamber and therefore better combustion of the same amout of fuel. The O2 sensor is then suppose to reduce the amount of fuel admitted throught the injector. That the idea.

    Fuel Savers

Another full tank of Optimax used. This time it was on a trip to Melbourne and return. A similar trip on the 8/08/05 and some home driving around used 10.4577 lt/100klm. This trip with Vaporate on the 11/10/05 and some home driving around used 10.3586 lt/100klm. Nowhere near the claimed fuel savings. The next thing I am going to try is to use std ULP. With ULP they say I should achieve the same economy as I do with Optimax, and with no loss of power. The full refund if not happy is looking good. Here's hoping.
  18. Thanks guys. I must admit I do notice the differance since the flash. Before when I put the foot down it used to kick back a bit more sudden and zoom off. Now it feels a bit more controlled in that it seams to kick back earlier and smoother.

  20. I remember a thread that mentioned people having their car in for service and then after the service using more fuel and/or less power. This was thought to be due to the reflash the dealer does when the car is serviced. As you may know I am testing the Vaporate fuel saving device on my T. I had the car in the other day to have the front discs machined prior to taking them off and replacing them with the PBR kit. I have since found that while it was in the dealers they flashed it with the latest program update. The day before I had Vaporate fitted. So I am now wondering if I can compare the fuel usage before and after Vaporate was fitted if they have changed the way the car runs. Currently Vaporate does not seem to be giving the claimed results. Has anyone had the experiance after the Ford update flash. Any advise or ideas would be appreciated. Colin
  21. Going back prior to the XR6T. I had a VQ Statesman. It came with the usual sealed maintenance free battery. It played up once, with the wife, 4 months later it played up again with the wife. I thought 3 years that's the life. So had to find a new battery on the spot. I bought a plain label variety. With the old battery in the garage and the wife gone on her trip I pryed the covers off the batery. It was nearly empty, so it may have only needed a fill and charge. The battery I bought never let me down for 8 years. It started getting a bit slow cranking so I had it checked and replaced. The battery guy couldn't believe it. and stated it's good that all batteries don't last this long or he would be out of business. On the other hand the wifes Mazda 14 months old looked under the bonnet and I could see a trail of white crusty corrosive substance. Two cells were overcharging or bubbling out the top caps. Mazda paid for the respray of the affected engine bay area. I had to buy a new battery and the new one is twice the physical size of the old. So I guess this goes to show anything can happen with a battery.

    Aami

RACV and AAMI wanted too much when I had the Commodore. When discussing the insurance quote the usual thing, has the vehicle been modified, are there any extras? This was a V6 VX Berlina. As soon as I mentioned that it was factory fitted with FE2 suspension the price went through the roof, and my under 25 son wasn't allowed to drive it. Someone from work suggested Elders. There comment was, FE2 or not it is still a Commodore. So all the insurances went to Elders. Colin

What about the itemised invoice at the end of the day before you pay? I alway check mine. As I mentioned above Ford allocate an exact amount of minutes for each part of the service. It's in your service book. I think we are all knowledgable enough to have an idea what an oil filter, oil and other parts cost. If not ask before you pay. Explain the account to me. Again the labour is the area I think you are more likely to be ripped. Ask the hourly rate charged you are entitle to know, and as above 2 hours labour must equal the rate charged. Colin

    Fuel Savers

I asked Vaporate as to what type of petrol to they suggest, ULP or PULP. I have only ever used PULP. The suggestion from Vaporate was that I would see greater improvement using ULP because of the different density of the fuel there is more room for improvment in the combustion with ULP. This may explain why I am not seeing a big improvment in economy as I am already running the best fuel. They suggested I change to ULP and compare the results. I'll see what happens over the next couple of months, after all there is the 100% money back garauntee with the product. Then this refund could go towards the edit.

My 15,000 service was $243. The concern I have is not so much the parts but the labour charged. The labour charged was exactly as quoted in the Ford service book. The price for parts as to be expected. An "A" class service 48min Tyre rotation 18min Turbo vehicle only Tighten inlet and exhaust manifolds 54min. Total Labour 2 hours After Ford doing a half fix on the brake shudder issue I had, I will not be having the T serviced by a dealer from now on. Except for warranty problems, none so far. The local garage who fitted the PBR Performance Kit is keen to keep my business. Colin
