Sold my 50th Anniversary XR6 Turbo. The guy asked had I had trouble with acceleration? This was a day after the purchase. Never, only ever run perfect. Next day it went into limp mode so he took it to his mechanic. The mechanic found a rag from my service 6 months ago had been sucked into the turbine. Damaged bent the fins and pieces missing. He commented the large pieces would get caught in the intercooler but would other bits get through? After he sent me the pics I contact my garage who agreed it was their fault and would rectify this with the guy. The garage arranged a flat tow to pick up the car. The guy I sold the car to was so grateful, but I felt some responsibility.

I've seen a few on ebay $1100 for 4. I keep looking for some 50th Anniversary wheels for mine as a spare or two. Search for FG 19 they are easy found

After my kids had completed the AAMI skilled drivers course they were all told to run their tyres at the full load pressure indicted on the tyre placard. Iv'e done this with all my cars over the years and find it makes the tyres wear even too. That is exactly what I have done with my 19". I also found they initially were at 37 when I got to the servo and I raised them all to 42 as on the placard. Doesn't seem to ride any harder. After that I then found my economy improved by 0.8 lt/100klm on a trip.

Finally travelled 7,500klms and as I did with the BA XR6T I change the oil between the regular 15,000 klm services. Well the story goes, Sunday afternoon. Up on the mates hoist, first time Ive been under the FG. What is the cooler next to the sump plug? Didn't have that on the BA. Possioned the catch drum, removed the sump plug, hot oil up the sleeve. As it drained I thought to remove the filter. Had to use 2 hands on the wrench to get it to move, off comes the filter looking a bit crushed. Pulled out the new filter, AHHHH its not the same as the filter I kept from the BA. The mate took me to Autobarn to buy the correct filter, didn't know it had changed. Got back fitted the filter, installed and tightened the sump plug. Lowered the car poured in approx 7lts of oil. Now came the interesting part. Between the 2 of us we had a hard time seeing what level was on the dip stick, the oil was so clean. If anyone has a suggestion please let me know to make it easier to see. Anyway started it up and all ran okay. The 1 hour I thought it would take took just over 2.

The closest anyone came to believing it was my boat was a few comments anking "who's boat I was towing"? Atleast they rocognised the car type. Im only intending to tow light loads but have towed furnatur trailers with the BA XR6T I had last. Colin

I to think this is a great write up. I was wondering what to think when I first started reading. Hoping only good things. Its good to know I will be right to tow anything with my XR50T now. If only I could convince the guys at work that your pic was actually my car with a boat. Colin

Had the 50th Anniversary for a couple of months now, so I decided to give it a first polish. Due to work this is the first chance apart from the occassional wash. Washed then chamois and kept in the shade. Looked inot what polishes I had on the shaelf. 2 x 1/4 bottles that's all. Why not treat the car to some new polish. Had someone drive me to Autobarn where I bought Maqguires Gen 2 polish wax paste on the advice of the salesman. Back home read the instruction. Applied a small amount to the bonnet and let it dry. Started to buff it off and ended up with residue (looked like) spots all over. Applied a 2nd coat smae thing this time it was possible to see the direction marks from my buffing. Looked like crap. Got out the old polish (turtle) gave another coat, things looked better. Well thinking Maqguires is suppose to be great stuff I did the bonnet again. It was now better but still not perfect. Decided to take the can back for a full refund, as it states on the box. Autobarn were not to happy as they had heard of great results. They phoned Maqguires sales Rep and I spoke to him. He asssured me that the Maqguires cars are Black FG's and they come up gleeming. We discussed my methord and he decided I should have first used a paint cleaner. After that I gave the phone to the salesman, he spoke further to the Rep. Then went a got micro cloths, pads and paint cleaner for me. This is what you need and gave me what he had collected. Back at the home I used the paint cleaner first on the bonnet, WOW amazing, what a difference. Then a coat of polish wax and that made it fantastic. The paint cleaner was the answer. So I finished the car, best shine ever. I guess thinking back I should have used a paint cleaner, first because I am in an area prone to industrial fallout and second because it was the cars first polish.

Same thing here, I forgot to order the matching spare for the XR6T 50th I bought. I had a matching spare with the last XR6T. Guess I will have to keep away from gutters, nails and holes in the road.

Okay picked up the car today 50th XR Turbo. Looks fantastic. BUT how do you take decent photo's of a black shiny car. All I'm getting is lots of ground reflections, quite annoying..

Some things I didn't know about when I ordered the Turbo version. I had my first look at the new car today, and I will pick it up on Friday, (2 days away). Apart from the usual extras over the std 50th Aniv XR6, Rear parking sensors' Premium sound 6 stack cd player 19" wheels I wasn't aware that the seats were full leather compared with the leather trim on the XR6 version. My wife liked the trim version instead of full leather, too late now.

At last. Checked with the dealer today my XRT 50th has arrived and will be available next week. As I have been overseas I told them I wanted delivery mid August. I also had the dealer include a full tank, premium UV window tint and slimline plates.

I must admit I was wondering what the 19" wheels would look like being dark grey blades along side the black body. The side decal will be in dark grey also so the wheels are not the only thing in grey.

Hi guys and gals, Out with the old and in with the new. Goodbye BA (2004)hello FG. Just placed and order for the 50th Anniversary XR6 Turbo. The price with the factory extras was too good to pass up. Specs are XR6 Turbo, 6 speed Auto Colour Silhouette, love washing cars 2300 kg tow pack, not that I tow heavy but I hate having to bolt on a goose neck Window tinting, Tint a car Formula 1 UV 50% tint. $46,450 drive away From memory I paid $46,000 for the BA with all the extras I had added.

My illuminated switches on the drivers side stopped working. These were modded via Matt I think. What I found was the added pin comming through the switch body was not quite long enough or had moved back and wasn't making contact. This pin is the added when the switches are modded. It looks different to the others with the switch block out looking at the pins. I straightened the pin and unfolded it a little then refitted the wiring connector. All fixed.
