  5. I have friends with a similar patio to yours and it's always hot as hell in the summer you need to loose the lazer light sheets for a start they let in heaps of hot then you need to put insulation under the roofing sheets (like The Puffster has done to his house, and I, mine) looking at your patio roof though, you'll need to have something on top of the rafters so you are not looking at the insulation then you are left with the dilemma of no natural light...................... ceiling fans will do diddly squat if you don't insulate as you have already realized, you'll just be blowing hot air over yourselves
  6. Chopped chillies for a dish and made the fatal mistake of rubbing my eye with chilli on my hands. Seriously thought I would go blind in that eye, pain was extreme. After some frantic googling, milk in a shot glass washing the eye Immediate relief [emoji23] BTW, didn't go blind

  8. battery's for cars suck choice magazine did a survey of a cars "greenness" a cars life from production to destruction, the cost to produce it, run it, and the cost to destroy it. the cost to the environment so to speak the Toyota Prius came in at number 50, level pegging with a GM Hummer green my ass
  9. Victorian state gumbyment says from July 2018, 9.9 cents buy back
  10. Mrs BCB has made up a spread sheet and on average we are cutting our power costs by at least half
  11. I get 9 cents for buy back, I pay 27 cents for theirs because I'm usually giving them much more than I use or buy, I like to look at it this way I now only pay 18 cents for their electricity when I'm home during the day and the suns out, everything is free having a battery is a whole different kettle of fish the solar panels are wired to the battery the house always draws from the battery if you need more power than the battery has then you import off the grid the battery system is way better cos if your battery meets your needs then it's F U to the power company also you can't use solar panels in a black out they need power from the grid to run the inverter battery system can be used in a blackout
  12. well you are talking 2 houses I would love to do a wall battery but with our usage it would never pay for itself
  13. 24/7 draw for us: 1 large fridge/freezer, one large fridge, 2 computers, 1 server, 6 ceiling fans, 1 pool pump when home add: 1 computer 1 TV, 1-2 or 3 aircons, dish washer, clothes washer, oven, various kitchen appliances and a couple more ceiling fans and lights of course electric windows in study, garage door at least 4 times a day true dat we have lived in this current house for 20 years
  14. we have 20 panels, 6 KW system (I think) cost 5K total with the projected savings we estimate 4 years (give or take 6 months) and the system will be paid off according to statistics, the average family in Australia lives in their home for 10 years we get 9 cents per KWh feed in we both work 5 days per week
