  1. Isn't that a little contradictory? Just a little side note, if you really have read the bible in its entirety, you would know that the Catholic Church are lying to their members. Paul describes the Catholic Church in the last book of the bible (Revelation 17:3) As I said in my post, I expect to get flack for standing up for God, but I do not think you need to try denigrate me in such a vigorous fashion. You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but just because mine differs from yours doesn't make me an ignoramus.
  2. This is under the "off topic thread" Ralph ☺Loosely translated, "this topic is off!" ?
  3. I know that this will cop me a lot of flack but I feel compelled to speak my mind. ☺ The issue with gay marriage is not if someone truly loves another, that is already established, the issue is changing the moral laws that the God of the bible has laid down in black and white. Like it, or not (that is your right) history revolves around the God of the bible. BC = before Christ, AD = in the year of our Lord. Either Jesus Christ is real and is truly God in the flesh and did all things stated in the bible (also documented by secular historians) or is the greatest hoax of all time! Australia is built upon the Christian principals and morals found in the bible (which is also your right to like or not) and one of those Christian principals is marriage. Here lies the problem for the homosexual. Homosexuality over the past few decades has been trying very hard to present itself as a normal, it is truly a worldwide movement which is quite astonishing considering the homosexual population in Australia alone, is a very small minority of 1.2%. If the homosexual movement can gain the recognition of marriage and ultimately marriage in a church, then this for them will be God's approval on their choice. Here's where I'm going to get into even more strife, ☺ the God of the bible does not condone marriage between same sex couples, he condemns them, so much so that he destroyed a whole city and it's inhabitants, Sodom, which we get our modern day word of Sodomy from. ie, sex up the bum. so shoot me down all you like, as you may or may not have guessed, I am a Christian and I believe there is only one true God, and that is the God of the bible.
  4. You look like a completely different person Stripes, are you sure you didn't get a mate to pose for the after pics?
  5. So, our 2 hour drive totalled 8 hours!!!!! But wow, we were both totally gobsmacked by the rugged scenery. Not that I want to brag, but I've been to about 50 countries, and never have I seen so much diverse and stunning beauty. Just about every valley brought back memory's of other countries. Mexico was on the top of the list but Spain, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, Arizona (USA) and even Namibia in Africa were all represented in this spectacular little island! Australia was here as well with some large gum trees scattered along the side of the road. We did a motorcycle tour of Tasmania in 2012, and it does not even compare. The roads here are far superior for bikes than Tassie will ever be, oh, and did I mention the scenery? Had heaps of fun in the 3 cylinder turbo, my wife had to slow me down on a few occasions, but that was a good thing considering the sheer drops into oblivion that some corners offered. There were a lot of motorcycles on the road, and I was wishing I was on one, but maybe that's another holiday. Absolutely stunning Just need a helmet and some riding gear and I'm outa here!
  6. Landed in Corsica, France, picked up another Ford Fiesta. As soon as we drove away it felt like it had more grunt than the last one. Turns out it's a 1000 cc 3 cylinder turbo, and for its size it goes surprisingly well. Only down side is the gearing, sooooooooooh tall. Can comfortably cruze at 80 in 3rd (5 speed box) So we are off for a run from Calvi to Ajaccio (about 2 hours drive) down the west cost of Corsica. ☺
  7. Just got back from a fantastic dinner on the water front in Port de Soller Drove a 17 klm road over a small mountain pass for a laugh ( there is a tunnel that you can use that takes a couple of minutes ) 10 times I was on full lock turning the hairpins, and only using first and second gear in our ford Fiesta hire car. Total fun changing gear at 6500 ☺
  8. Staying in Majorca, Spain, cruising through the mountains in our baby ford hire car. Checking out the local guys riding their sports bikes carving up the bitumen. Eating paella and drinking Spanish champagne overlooking the Mediterranean. Life's pretty tough. ☺
  9. Had a hire car booked at Prague (budget rental) said they'd give me a Skoda, was looking forward to picking it up as had a few taxi rides in some. I'll give you an upgrade she said at the counter, oh no I've heard that one before. Usually means, we've not got what you booked, so you can have this piece of sh#t. Got everything I hate in a car! French Diesel SUV
  10. Leaving Milo's after 7 days, wife wants to stay for another week.
  11. We went to Naxos in 2006, and a though we totally loved it we don't go somewhere a second time to try to recapture the same experience, it's never the same.
  12. So I thought I would repair the scooter I hired here in Milos, Greece (as much as I could), I broke the r/h mirror and ground away part of the front brake lever, scratches and dents on the exhaust heat shield and a few scratches to the plastic belly pan and various other parts of the right hand side. Looking at all the carnage, and having dealt with hire companies in the past regarding damage, I thought I could possibly be up for a couple of hundred euro €12 for a new mirror, €7 for a new leaver from the local motorcycle shop was all I could repair. To my relief the 2 pretty Greek girls at the hire company were worried more about the injuries that my wife and myself had sustained than the damage to the scooter. They seemed surprised that I had taken the time to repair the scooter myself, and when I showed them the damage that I couldn't repair, one just gave a wave of her hand and said "no problem, it's ok". So, total bill for my stupidity was only €19, yay. Also revisited the hairpin where I crashed and of course, putted around at very slow speed which was actually 20 kph, then rode it again at 40 kph which still seemed relatively slow, so my estimation of crash speed would probably have been about 50 to 55 kph not 20 kph. So I think we are both very fortunate not to have sustained more serious injuries, although my wife has a sore arm that requires pain medication, for muscular bruising which she keeps reminding me of. On a side note, had an absolutely delicious meal last night of fried whole calamari, octopus stew and the obligatory Greek salad, washed down with a local bottle of retsina, finished off with a complementary Greek aperitif. ☺
  13. I've been riding motor cycles for over 37 years, all kinds, from mopeds to the latest crutch rocket that is speed limited to 300 kph. Hired an automatic 125 scooter here in Greece. Hooked into a hairpin bend at about 20 kph, low sided and drove myself and my wife into the bitumen. Both of us got away with very minor in jury's, but I managed to totally freak my wife out as I got winded when I hit the ground. She thought I had punctured a lung with a rib the way I was groaning and moaning like a true Hollywood. Moral of the story, don't be a dick head on a scooter, especially when on holiday.
  14. I don't know if anyone would be interested, but my wife is writing a blog on our travels (with photos I have taken) She is a pretty good writer, but I might be a little bit biased. http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entries/andjulbed/2/1431455852/tpod.html#_

  19. Most Australian hotels still charge for inhouse internet, usually through a third party at exorbitant rates. Travel to any other industrialized nation and its all free, free WiFi in most shops here in China and free unlimited Internet in our hotel. Australia needs to lift its game quick time, we are fast becoming a technologically backward nation. Have found here in China that we can still access Facebook and Google and not had any so called "bad" sites blocked. Seems like the government here is relaxing its restrictions on content.
  20. Having a relaxing breakfast in Shanghai, glad the flying is over with for a few days. Time to soak up the local atmosphere. Drive from airport last night was a spin out, spaghetti highways that seemed about 10 stories high! Fantastic neon skyline from the room.
  21. Got relos coming to house sit, they can use her car, not mine
  22. Leaving to go to Europe in 1 week for 7 weeks holiday. Starting to get excited ☺
