  1. Cant go more than 55 cos room size. BTW, non smart TV's are virtually non existent. the one that went pop was a non smart cos use media center Chrome cast is good, but nothing beats a PC hooked to the TV. I think I might have a win with the 50 inch went to the Samsung accredited repairer, he told me to ring Samsung (gave me the number) and remind them of the Australian Consumer Law that came into effect January 2011. It states that "section 52(2) of the A.C.L. goods are of acceptable quality if they are durable." Quality TV brands should last for at least a 5 year period he reckons and Samsung will more probably foot the repair bill. I rang Samsung this evening, they took all the details of the set, the fault and the purchase date and are ringing me back tomorrow. So heres hoping I get a free repair
  2. 2 1/2 year old Samsung 50 inch plasma died with a pop and smell of burnt electronics. That really pisses me off
  3. (for those that might be interested) about 15 years ago I read a medical paper published in the American Medical Journal about possible links to heart disease and stroke connected to homogenised milk and certain vegetable oils. The paper was removed from the Journal after pressure from the American dairy industry. I have read articles since that both support this theory and debunk it. So the jury is still out on the validity of this research which took place over a 2 decade period (1960's till 1980's) since then I have been drinking un-homogenised milk and eating and cooking with butter and cold pressed olive oil. I am not a health fanatic, I have just found that everything just tastes sooooo much better. IMO, homogenised milk tastes like white water BTW, full cream pasteurised but not homogenised milk only contains about 3.25% fat, ie 96.75% fat free. edit: " % fat free" IS a marketing strategy
  4. we have a local company here, produces 2 type s of milk , one is totally organic, the other is jersey cows milk. they are both pasteurised but not homogenised. ie, the cream rises to the top just like when you were a kid and tastes sooooo much better IMO than milk that has been homogenised we pay double the price for the misty mountains and just over $5 for the mungalli stuff. Coles has been selling the stuff for years now (in Cairns) but it hasnt been on the shelf for over 4 weeks now https://www.facebook.com/Mungalli-Creek-Dairy-465815280202446/ https://www.facebook.com/Misty-Mountain-Farms-429290480515886/

  8. Excellent choice Pixy Make a list of all that you find is not up to standard and let everyone concerned know that work will not recommence until everything on the list is rectified ie. the only work done is rectification at their expense before the rest of the building commences
  9. It doesn't look good enough Pixy Angel, the concrete is cracked and crumbling , I would be getting the builder to shore it up somehow
  10. as k31th said, considering the circumstances its very fair. Getting such a large room as your second room is pretty cool for an extra $37.50
  11. opps, should read 2.5 out of 10 no MattyP, I don't live in the US for a start
  12. Hampster "n" administrator = Hampsternator

  15. When we did our reno the blockie also showed up the skills of the builder and the concreter. We had a concrete driveway crossover that the concreter never billed us for cos it was such an eye sore Here is a pic of another stuff up. There is a line in black texter pen on the wall to the right of the timber and a notation that it is 400mm above finished floor height. there is also (2 besser blocks below) an arrow pointing to where finished floor height is. besser blocks are 190 high. The top of the formwork is about 3/4 of the way down the 3rd block I never picked it till after the concrete was poured. So the concreter had to add another 150 mm of concrete to the entire slab of double garage, hallway and study out of his pocket.
  16. I like these better than the horizontal ones, but like Stripes said, at the end of the day its you and your missus that need to be happy with them
  17. Sorry Stever, its been a while. Internet speed is a high priority on my list of have to's. I was getting all excited because the NBN is getting rolled out in my suburb and I was looking at where I could have the install on my property. Then with great disappointment I find out that our suburb is getting fiber to the node and not to the home. Stupid bloody gumbyment. and they have the cheek to say we need to embrace new ideas in innovation and science, and harness new sources of growth to deliver the next age of economic prosperity in Australia. and yet we are given archaic internet hookups. So bottom line for me (pun intended) is internet speed that is barely adequate.
  18. not that particular model Stripes
  19. There is a reason that Upinder has only taken pics from the front though. reason = tail lights on the boot IMO this is a big fail for what could have been one of the best looking modern fords
