G'day, My car is a stock standard XR6 Turbo (BA MkII with 05 plates). No performance mods (that I'm aware of anyway..) and its now 5K overdue for its 60000km service. Until now, I've blindly just returned it to the ford dealer I bought it from for its service, but after getting a "quote" for the service from Ford, am inclined to shop around. They quoted $220 for the service, which I agreed to, booked it in and hung up. 2 mins later, I got a call back saying they "forgot it was a turbo", and the price went up to $450, due to some valve being adjusted or something (involving an additional "2.75 hours labour"). As you've probably picked up by now, I'm not a mechanic's arsehole. Car is out of warranty these days, so I guess I'm not so hung up on the handbook side of things, but would like to get it done by someone who knows what they're doing. Can someone help me with what sorts of questions to ask the mechanic (ie, I've got the "my car needs its 60000km service done" bit, but is there anything in particular to the turbo side of things I should be asking? Can anyone recommend a mechanic in coo-ee of Gladstone (Central Qld) for this sort of work? Cheers, Brett
