  1. We are currently in the process of shockwave respray number 17 at work. In and out in 5 working days now. Last month we had 2 sedans, a ute a nd a wagon in at the same time. Gets a bit confusing when you have 4 blue bonnets sitting around, Hmmmmm, which one came off which car?
  2. Hmmm... Ford and FPV's stock control is a joke. Work in a panel shop as an assembler had an BF MkII XL ute hit in front and guess what ford can't supply a new front bar facia until the end of june. Just painted the whole side on a bionic BF GT, do you think we could get new stripes? apparently they are ot of stock and have been since Jan. What a disgrace. Their dealer network and spare parts suppliers are f*cking them. In stark contrast, we repaired a Y series II GTS a while ago,one of less than 100 made and needed the stainless steel wire mesh insert in the back bar, ordered 8:00am, in the shop before lunch. Does anyone else see the problem here?
  3. thanks for that. Now I understand that autos are rated to tow 2300kg and manuals only 1600kg. Is that a mechanical limitation or based on traction?
  4. Hey all, looking at buying an 03 BA XL ute with the Barra 220 3V V8/manual box. What can anyone tell me about the long term reliabiity of these engines? car will be occasional use only, and tow a horse float once a month or so (1900kg loaded). I have heard stories of spark plugs seizing in the heads, necessitating removal of the heads to fix this. Can anyone elaborate? Thanks
  5. Simmons RV20, dark argent centres, polished outer 20x9 F, 20x10R 245/35F 275/30R Ace!
  6. Harrop HTV 2300 blower, you know you want it! looks awesome, 350rwkw through standard exhaust...
  7. has anyone actually weighed the ute body and compared the weight to an aftermarket tray body? in my line of work (panelbeater) im constantly removing ute bodies to allow access to repair them, and I can tell you they ain't that heavy. most steel flat trays are probably a similar weight.
  8. ok, phoon owners. I work at a panel shop we do all the warranty work for the local ford dealer. if your bar has lots of stonechips take the car to your dealer and whinge. we have already done 2 GT,s and have a rapid typhoon coming in next week. Th e problen is NOT the type of plastic but the undercoat used. if you feel the undercoat under a chip it feels like teflon, hence the paint just flies off. the answer is to completely remove all the paint and undercoat until the bar is bare plastic. this is very labour intensive but the only way to ensure a good result.
  9. Yes fpv are repainting front bars under warranty, bad prep on undercoat seems to be the culprit. had a july 05 gt at work with hardly any paint on the bar left. A ford employee had a GT-P for evaluation with the new monotube shocks dropped in the other day the GT-P was a looking a bit shabby so I gave it a wash-and removed half of the paint on the front bar!
