  1. Time for Sniper and HP Tuners to step up to the mark and improve their product. They'll capture the market quite easily if SCT's strategy is as described. There will be plenty of tuning shops annoyed with this situation and will look elsewhere for another tuning solution.
  2. Interesting comment. Perhaps you are right, it cannot be done with a Bluepower kit. I saw a FG XR8 at BPT Motorsport with their P/D blower kit running an Eaton M140 / TVS head unit, 11psi boost, AFR's in the low 11's, 11psi boost, STOCK HEADERS AND CATS, Perry cat back system make 405rwkw repeatedly. Kinda dispells the myth some places have been peddling that these thing need drainpipe size exhaust systems to make power. Any tuner who's good at their job will extract 400-450rwkw out of a stock Boss 290 with a P/D setup. I've had a 391rwkw BF F6 and it's no comparison to my ute.
  3. Thanks. These Boss motors continue to make power to the rev limit once blown, kept the limiter at the stock 6200rpm cut out though. Yep, oil pump gears were done at the same time. Amazing what a 'mere' 10psi boost does to one of these things
  4. Fine provided transmission torque truncation isn't played with. Otherwise, BANG!!!
  5. Next couple of weeks, hopefully before our lovely heat wave sets in
  6. I agree it probably is, but I want to find out where the power limit with tuning is first. What's to say it doesn't make 415-420rwkw with the current setup? No point spending any extra IMO to chase more power at that level. Others will change the system to pursue more power. I may do it later.
  7. Actually Rob , it's a 2.3L Generation 6 TVS Ford Racing / Roush Performance Eaton M140 blower. Mouth full isn't it. It's the GT500 Mustang head unit available in the US from FPPR/Roush Performance. What's wrong with the factory exhaust? And who's been pedalling this myth that small exhaust systems are restrictive  I'm sure there will be a bit left in it yet before the exhaust system gets looked at.
  8. Sounds like it will be an interesting setup. Seeing I'm using a similar blower (Ford Racing / Roush Performance) kit on my BFII Super Pursuit I'll subscribe to this thread to see how it goes.
  9. Hey Mal, how's it coming along? Got the rear seats installed yet?
  10. I guess the reason for the BOV's goes back to the days of bushed-bearing turbo's, and their slow spool up speed. Hence the need for one to keep the turbo spinning whilst changing gears. As for the extra throttle response - that's more than likely due to the extra 6-8 degrees of ignition timing over what it had.....did I mention the 408rwkw it pulled? Gonna have to see what I can squeeze out of it Friday.
  11. Exactly. You 60ft sucks arse! Try getting sub 2's and you'll cut a low 12/hi 11 with the power you have provided you have traction.
  12. I'm told by the experts I don't need to use one Part of the reason I want to retain the BOV is for the exact reason you describe. Now, why would companies advocate not to run one when the problem you describe can occur?
  13. You assume correct, the trailing throttle noise sh*ts me - makes the car sound like a boy racer car. Not desireable on a FPV IMO, hence I fitted the factory BOV. Oh well, I can't have it all my way, and will live with the noise - and extra power - removing the BOV has created.
  14. Hi Jason, Sounds like it was an exhaust restriction partically causing the lack of power! Great to hear you've got it sorted Cheers Justin ← Thanks Justin, IMHO it was the BOV causing the bulk of the power loss. I had the factory BOV plumbed into the Cobra kit, which I suspect was bleeding off a huge amount of boost before the t/b, recirculating the air back to the air intake. Put it another way, the wastegate DC tables have dropped from 80-90% to 30-40%. Says a lot about what was going on. I've also been able to add an extra 6 degrees of spark without any detonation. With this knowledge I'm sure 400+ rwkw will easily be achievable.
  15. Thanks Jason. It drives good with 358rwkw and turns the tyres hard in 3rd gear from a roll-on. I took someone for a run in the car yesterday and they couldn't believe how much power it had. I've yet to adjust the 392rwkw tune for road use; the boost generated on the road far exceeds the level it runs on the dyno. Ditto for the 408rkw tune. I'll take some time during the xmas break to get those 2 tunes sorted.
  16. Post one up with boost for us mate, and AFR's. We know you have one. Every good tuner does a full print off after the run yeah... ?? Cheers. I did the honors a few months ago after some speculation, remember ← Sure, here you go How much boost is it running? I've decided to change my mind on posting that info. Apparently it's not done as it gives away 'trade secrets'. The car still uses the the 3.5" APC exhaust I've had for 4months, with the exception of the stock tip being added. The 3.5" dump pipe has been removed in favour of the 4" SMB one and the Ballistic 5" cat with 4" ends. The intercooler has been replaced with another ASE cooler; the main difference are the inlet/outlet locations. I was unhappy with the ends on the first intercooler so decided to have that rectified. It's still the same size. In light of the 408rwkw it managed on Friday when I stopped the run I'm quite confident that I can now crank 430rwkw by lifting the boost a little more. I'll post the dyno sheet during the week.
  17. I thought you said you liked running the baby tunes for the street because it gave you more appreciation for the big daddy tunes on the track(s). ← I don't drive the car that often anymore, so it doesn't matter.
  18. Installed 4" dump pipe and removed factory BOV.
  19. Having spent some time trouble shooting my setup power on the dyno is up a little as per the attached graph. I've another run where I aborted the run as the car was at the top of the roller and almost came out. That run made 408rwkw @ 3800rpm. Now I'll finesse the tune for the road and enjoy!
  20. That's very bad luck Phoon Hoon. It's a shame to see the car in such a state. The upside is that you're ok, and have bragging rights. The car is replaceable; you are not. As for the police charging you for negligent driving, I think you'd have a reasonable chance of defending it. The freeway on ramps are merging points, not give way points. The driver infront of you may in fact be negligent rather than yourself for failing to merge in a safe manner. Anyways, have fun with your replacement vehicle.
  21. A lot has to do with your relationship with the dealer you go to, some is luck of the draw. If you are seriously concerned about having your edit detected (especially in the BF's) purchase another pcm and have that flashed with the standard processor code. It's quite normal for some of the LS1 guys to run a couple of pcm's. Ford cannot detect a modified tune if the stock unaltered pcm is in place.
  22. To answer your question yes the wastegate port does get enlarged and also fitted with a larger swing valve assembly to stop overboosting. The standard port size is too small to control high boost levels. You'll see some people claiming hi boost numbers with the stock actuator, but that isn't through good programming; rather a lack of boost control. Like BCL suggested you could also upgrade the actuator to a 12psi unit to give you more boost. Good luck with your project
  23. Nice choice James. To be honest I never thought you'd actually make the change from HSV to FPV. Well done.
  24. How often would you change the trans oil?
  25. Isn't it the same as the Optimax but just a different name? Only BP Ultimate 98 available in WA.
