lol. I once remembered a long time ago old forum members of LS1.COM sprouting about piggy-backed LS1's being the fastest in Australia. Guess what, they're all long gone now thanks to the conception of LS1 Edit, Flashscan, Dicks Electronics (not Dick Smith ) and HP Tuners. Now all the fastest LS1's run factory PCM's So too will the Falcons

I think I read in a previous post somewhere from Street Tuner that the power loss from the 6 spd is something like 17%. As a newbie and not having had anything to do with the Ford stuff, but lots to do with LS1 Edit on my old car, I went straight for the CAPA SCT tuning box. Nothing will work better than editing the factory PCM. Nothing. My 10 psi flash gave me 51rwkw increase over the stock power level - 209rwkw vs. 260rwkw. All the while retaining stock driveability down low, and a heap of midrange to boot, with the AFR's top end staying at 12:1. Pretty good imo.
-
I did 600k's then did the edit on mine.
-
What is boost cut? It's something I haven't experienced with the 10 psi program.
-
260rwkw here running stock exhaust, stock air intake, 600k's on odo and a CAPA Flash tuning box

I want to install a boost gauge for when I run the boosted flash programs in the car. I would like the setup to look as factory as possible? While I'm at it, where can I get a good boost gauge from, preferably with blue back light to keep it looking in sync with the factory dash? Thanks.

It's a no-brainer, go the Edit. You can retain your stock program and run up to 3 modified programs - all available within 4 mins via the flash unit. A custom program and tuning box will cost you around $1600 - $1800 depending on how good your tuner is. I'm happy with mine

this guy is sharp as, welcome to the Forum, hope you enjoy your car & its new found power Scotty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks. I'm a ls1.com.au forum veteran (aka vt2execls1), so I know sometimes you have to be on the ball. Tuna knows who I am. Yes, I'm happy with the power delivered on the stock setup. I'm going to take the next step in a few weeks and add the bigger injectors and fuel pump to an otherwise stock setup and see how much further I can push the envelope before I do step 3 and replace the front mount and dump pipe/exhaust. It's all good!

Flash tuner without a doubt!

The 10psi map we demonstrated that night had a leanest A/F of 12.2:1 during that power run. With the stock map it was as lean as 13.5:1. I actually made a point of explaining this to those that were listening at the time <{POST_SNAPBACK}> COOL THEN WHY DO I NEED TO GO TO APS YOU ARE NOW ANOTHER INDEPENDANT CLAIMING OVER 235 RWKW WITH SAFE AFR'S AND STD INJECTORS 250RWKW X 20%= 300 FLYWHEEL KW DA DAAAAA!!!!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, makes me wonder about the claims being made by APS that the stock injectors supporting only a miximum of 280kw at the flywheel. I've been running the car with a wide band sniffer in the exhaust for a few days now and not once have I seen the AFR's creep anywhere over 12.0:1 under 5000rpm with the 10psi map during WOT. And this is with the program that made 260rwkw. In fact, some of the mid-range is so fat that it could do with leaning off from mid 11's to flat 12's to help deliver even more mid range power and torque. It's all good with the SCT tuning box and software!
-
I'm not at liberty to discuss pricing - my advise is to ring your local tuner and discuss pricing and options with them. My AFR's are at 12.0:1 at 5000rpm using the 10psi program. From 5000rpm to 5500 rpm the AFR's rise fast, indicating the fuel system has maxed out. To overcome this problem the boost level is dropped to 8 psi over 5000rpm. The car still has the stock injectors, fuel pump, air box and exhaust system. Basically, it's as it was when it rolled out the factory.

Just read it.

Good result did you simply just download the tune that come in the box and check air fuel mixture's or was it custom tuned CYA JEFF <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was a custom tune, checked on a dyno.

Had Simon from Extreme Ford Tuning supply me with a tuning box loaded with the stock program and a 10 psi program. My car is totally stock, about all I've done so far is filled it up twice. It's a 6spd Jan build. Stock it made 209rwkw, with the 10 psi program it turned just over 260rwkw, 260.7rwkw to be exact on the dyno at Active Automotive here in Perth. I'm running the car on BP Ulitmate and the AFR's were around 11.7:1 peak power. Love the way it feels, it has picked up heaps of mid range. It's amazing how quick the car accelarates, seems like the trans needs more gears I'd hazard a guess and say the car is at the limits of it's fuel system now so I'll look at installing the bigger injectors and pump I have, plus change the front mount IC and do the exhaust as well. 300+rwkw here we come

Had a meeting with the dealer principle and stock controller to find out what happened. To cut a long story short it does look like it's FoMoCo's fault; because there was an order in the system for a colour that was no longer available they defaulted the colour to white. Unfortunately my car was one of the vehicles caught up in the production run. It's even more unfortunate that FoMoCo did not tell the dealership around the country that they decided to change the colour to white. Something like 20 vehicles were affected that day. On a more positive note I did take delivery of the car yesterday. It's great! Absolutely love it. No diff noise, no gearbox noise, gearshifts are perfect. I couldn't be happier. Did 250kms in it yesterday afternoon/evening. In the next few days the car is off to get lowered springs, window tinting and a SCT tuning box. Will probably just flash the 8spi program in it until it clocks up a few k's, then I'll continue with the rest of the mods.

It's becoming more evident that the error was probably made at the dealership, rather than at the factory. Both people from the dealership tried to tell me that the error was made at the factory, but having read some of the replies here I'm starting to doubt that. The system at the factory is automated - I doubt the factory would have grave errors like cars being painted the wrong colour occuring. I wasn't able to see the dealer principle yesterday, so had to deal with the salesman and the finance guy. I'll make sure I arrange to see the dealer principle on Monday (He's a nice guy and made the deal happen for me in the first place) and see what he has to say about it. I doubt that he's actually aware of what's happened and I'm sure he'll be as disappointed as what I was when I first found out. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Wouldn't mind the white car as the 'loaner' BTW, it only had 8kms on the odo when I saw it Friday.

I think this alludes to where the real probelm is. You mentioned getting a "fleet discount" In my experience, fleet cars are often grabbed from whichever dealer has one....not made up especially for your order. In 2003 I ordered Mercury Silver with Plexis Red interior. I ordered it about 3 months before my current lease expired. The car turned up 2 months early. I went to view it at the dealer and it had a Plexis Grey interior. I insisted that they find me a Plexis Red interior as I was still in my current lease and therefore not in any hurry for the new car. The dealer then grabbed one from a Toowoomba dealership and had it transferred down to Sydney.... still approx 3 weeks earlier than I needed it. At least it was the right colour this time. Was certainly a long three weeks before I was able to jump in it and take it away. Maybe others find similar experiences with "fleet" purchases ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it would have taken a fluke for the dealer to source a car with the equipment level I ordered and it being a Jan '05 build.

You now have me worried My car will arrive in March (black) so I just had a quick look at the Vehicle Specification sheet to make shure that all the options I have ordered are correct. I believe you can track a vehicle by the SIDO number. but this still does not take out human error. I wish you all the best with your new car. I'm not doing my signature to I have the vehicle. Regards Creepy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's funny you mention the SIDO number. I was given one approximately mid January. Typed the number in and entered my email address - kept getting the same recurring error - vehicle has not been retailed. It just so happened that I rang the dealer on Monday to find out where the car was at - was originally told it would be in Perth around the 14th of Feb - then it was brought forward to 9th Feb - then was told on Monday it would be delayed by 5 days due to 2 train derailments near Merridin in WA. I merely happened to call past the dealer on Friday to get another update. That's when I was told the car was in the yard. I dunno what happened - maybe my car has been sent somewhere else and I have someone elses car Anyways, looks like I'm the proud new owner of a white XR6T, Jan '05 build 6 speed with premium brakes, premium audio, pollen filter, scuff plates, headlight covers and spare alloy wheel.

Sig updated!

Thanks all for the feedback. It wasn't the dealer's fault. The contract clearly stated Velocity, not white. Unfortunately it was Ford's fault. Basically, I've taken the car as I don't want to wait another 7 - 8 weeks. I like the white car; it's got all the options I chose bar the colour. The dealer has thrown in a couple of free major services, rebate on the paint, some merchandise and tickets to tour FPV. As sully59 alluded to it was basically a take-it or leave-it offer from the dealer. They were limited to what they could do. After all I really did screw them on the deal with a $6200 'special fleet discount'. My car optioned up cost me less than $50k driveaway. They would sell it for $55 - $56k to someone that is keen to buy it. Can't wait till Monday to drive it

Going to speak to the dealer principle today and will see what they have to offer to compensate for the inconvenience.

Well, after waiting 3 months for my new ride to arrive, I received a call from the dealership on Friday saying the car had arrived Thursday night. I'd ordered the car 30/10/04, wanting a '05 build 6 speed with premium brakes and premium audio, in Velocity. Being excited I thought I'd take a drive to the dealership Fri morning to have a look. After scouting around with the salesman we couldn't find it - it was probably out on a test drive or something. Anyway, not having enough time to stay I left saying I have a look later in the afternoon. Around 230pm I receive a phone call from the finance guy saying the car has arrived with all the bells and whistles, except, the car is the wrong colour. It's white! The dealership has given me several offers: 1. They will take the car back and get another one built in the colour I want, but I won't get it until at least the end of March! I'll get a loan car until the new one arrives. 2. I take the car as it is and will probably get a rebate for the paint. 3. I can cancel the order and walk away. It's not the colour I wanted but won't wait another 7 - 8 weeks for the car to arrive in the right colour. I think I'll take the car in white, get the rebate for the difference in price of the paint and squeeze a couple of free services out of them. I can't believe the factory screwed up so badly with the order clowns

Please explain how someone in a stolen motor car is not a criminal? Theft is a serious indictable offence in Victoria. All sounds very criminal to me. A component of all registrations paid goes towards Traffic Accident Commision insurance. If you are walking along the roadside and are hit by an unregistered driver, do you want to run the gauntlet of the public health system rather than having the government pay for your private treatment through its near unlimted TAC budget? Don't think there aren't a shipload of unregistered drivers out there either, there are. Every single one of them is making your annual registration dearer by not paying theirs. Thank you for your informed view. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sure, someone stealing a motor vehicle is a criminal. So is a peadophile, rapist, bank robber, someone who commits GBH. How does the technology described above assist catching those other criminals?
-
Yep - I'm in too. 27th is good. Updating this thread would be the best way to keep everyone informed imo. The dealer tells me the car will be arriving in Perth the 8th of Feb, should have it as soon as PD is done. I've already got the bigger injectors, fuel pump and SCT Advantage waiting to go on the car. Can't wait
-
Now imagine if they used all that technology to catch criminals rather than motorists
