Just spoke to Street Tuner. Brackets and fitting instructions will be included with all further units
-
I'll have some pics this afternoon.

Well, I couldn't wait until the weekend to fit the intercooler so fitted it yesterday afternoon. It took around 5 hours to fit but some of that time was wasted trying to work out where the brackets went. It would be a good idea for the intercooler to come with a diagram or instructions to show where the brackets go. Never mind. After the I/C was installed I flashed the 11psi program I had in my CAPA flasher and drove the car for 5-10 mins to allow the car to warm up and the program to stabilise. The difference between the stock I/C and this unit is huge. I drove the car hard for at least 5 mins, with no reduction in power or performance. I pulled over and felt the end tanks - one end was very hot - the other was very cold. As I had Caltex Voltex Gold fuel I wasn't able to run the 14psi program I have - I'll wait until I fill the car on Ultimate then give it a go. My initial finding is the I/C is much better than the stock unit and is able to sustain hard driving without losing power like the stock I/C does. I'll find out what power the car is making at the next WA XR6T dyno day.

It arrived today. Nice looking unit too. Comes with all the required brackets to install. Did I say it was a nice looking unit? Will probably get around to fitting it over the weekend, in time for the dyno day being held in WA next month.

I'll testify that both the Bel RX65 and RX75 are great units. The RX75 is a remote mounted unit that I've fitted to the T, and I use the RX65 in the different work cars I drive. The RX75 has great range, and has never missed a laser trap. When funds permit I'll be adding the BEL-904 laser jammer to it. It's also a good unit as it's very concealed making it hard to find in the car. The RX75 cost me $1300 and the RX65 cost me $550, both brand new units.

Should see it arrive sometime this week. Anticipate fitting it during the week. Will provide some feedback after it's installed.

That’s true, what has happened with the "user" software? Is APS developing it? Trent. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just got off the phone from CAPA. It looks like the quicktune software will not be released. They were talking about a new tuning product, hand held unit, but there is no release date. Yes, I've been privy to use the software. Seems to work ok for me.

Ordered and paid for mine yesterday.

Happy with mine, on 10psi it made 260rwkw with stock injectors, but was running out of fuel. Replaced injectors and had Barry from FPT / D & T in Wangara retune to suite the new injectors. Made 265 rwkw, 10 psi boost, 11.8 AFR. Best of all, no surging!

Lovely work. You have a PM. BTW, how much restriction is that crappy little charge pipe under the battery? And for that matter, at what point does the cross over pipe (on top of the rocker cover) become a restriction? Thanks.

Got the F6 gauge pod in mine, with 2 Autometer gauges - boost (20psi) and oil pressure. Looks and works a treat!
-
Got a MC's day and a Collie sprint day coming up soon so will be focusing my attention on those instead.

That's mate. I'm thick skinned, and don't give a about the critisism from others  Perhaps I should have clarified the run I had with the SV8, and said it was an easy victory, as it was all over by the top end of 3rd gear. Not really worth mentioning, but still good for a giggle. More to the point the victory over the WRX was more rewarding considering the mods that are done to it ( big front mount I/C, Unichip, boost up and different exhaust), and his ability to launch off the line, grab a car lenght on take-off over me, yet still be able to catch and pass his car. The guy was good about it, considering I run him a week ago and he was telling everyone of his victory over the XR6T. Bugger me for not realising he was actually going for it. I doubt the dyno figures are incorrect, as they have been verified on 2 dyno's in Perth, and also the SOTP confirms the amount of power by the ease at which the car will pull away from stock XR6T's and SV8/SS. As for the lecture about street racing :middlefingerred:

Went out on a cruise a couple of nights ago and caught up with a few people I know. Anyway, so we're driving along and come to a set of traffic lights. The SV8 and I both went for it and I comfortably pulled away from it. Probably by end of third gear I had an easy 2 car lenghts on him. The icing on the cake however was a guy in a '02 WRX who saw me race and thought he'd have a good change. I had a roll-on with him a week before and althought I beat him I wasn't impressed with the performance of my car - the tune was a bit of a dud with surging etc - however that's all been rectified and the boost turned up to 12 psi. I pulled up next to him with a Toyota import in between us at a set of lights. He probably got a good car lenght on me during the take off as he must have held it at the rev limiter and dropped the clutch. Anyway, by the time I shifted into third I had already caught him, told end of third I was infront of him, and into fourth gear I'd already pulled 2 car lenghts on him. This guy was totally amazed that a 'heavy Falcon' with only a boost up could pull quicker times than his WRX. He's managed a best of 13.2 out of his car. 2 good road kills in 1 night

Handling and braking for me. That's why I ordered my car with the Performance Brake package, and within 2 days of taking delivery of it I had Bilstein shocks and 35mm lower Lovell springs installed. Sway bars will be done in the next few weeks. Straight line speed doesn't impress me, it's ones ability to control a car at it's limits through corners without fluking it that grabs my attention. Sure, power is good, especially for safe overtaking, but that's where it ends.
-
Performance and Handling! I wanted something with more potential than my previous car (390rwhp VT LS1 Commodore). I drove test drove a VZ SS M6, VZ R8 (LS2) and the Mk1 XR6T 5 speed. I was sold on the XR6T. It handles better than either of the Commodores and has more torque down low What's more, it has a heap more potential for power while remaining 100% EPA legal. Sure, you can bang a blower on a V8 or do a head/cam package and get the same power as a modded XR6T, but here in WA forced induction is illegal on a V8 without EPA certification, and I'm so over the big cam noise of the V8 (my VT LS1 V8 was one of those). I like the silent but violent approach The 'T' has the potential to make 400rwkw with nominal amount of modifications but remain a sleeper off boost.

Thanks. I take it the Phase II also runs around 12psi boost, as shown in the dyno sheet. Nice result.
-
And what does a Phase II consist of?
-
Have a look at the Intercooler Group Purchase thread. There's a good picture of the new PWR unit.
-
Was looking at the new PWR unit. Might decide to go for a custom jobbie from PWR.

Will this modification allow the boost to be brought in hard from 3000rpm? Say a commanded 15psi from 3000rpm without surging? Currently I'm running 12psi without any drama's other than power loss after a few runs because the stock intercooler cannot keep up. Thanks, Jason. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> G'day Jason your sig say's 10 psi at 265 rwklw now your running 12 psi what is the rwklw CYA JEFF <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not sure yet Jeff. All I did was add more boost and verify with my Innovate LM-1 wide band to ensure the AFR's were where I wanted them. It does feel stronger, but can't sustain the boost as long as the lower boost programs due to heat soak in the I/C. Probably put the car back on the dyno after the new intercooler is installed.

Steve, I'm using the CAPA flasher with 3 tunes from FPT / D & T. My box has been configured for stock tune with 38# injectors, 10 psi with 38# injectors and 12psi with 38# injectors. I saw you yesterday afternoon travelling down Franklin Rd in Wanneroo. I'll pm you my phone number. Give me a call if you want to catch up and I'll take you for a ride so you can feel how it goes. Jason.

Does anyone make a quick shifter for the MkII 6 speed manual? I know GM Motorsport make the RIP Shifter for the 6 speed in the Commodore. Anyone had any experience with one? I'm realy keen on shortening the gear throw without losing accuracy of the shifter mechanism. Thanks.

Up to 16 with an edit and injectors <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice Let's see the dyno graphs.
