  1. I bought the SMB 4" dump pipe and 4" cat for $1000. The 4" cat was merged to hook up to the factory exhaust before the centre muffler thus retaining relatively stock exhaust note. Picked up 30rwkw from memory running using the 10psi program.
  2. 260rwkw is the maximum power I could get out of my car with the stock injectors, running 11.8 - 11.9 AFR @ peak rpm, tuned with edit only - no other mods. Boost had to be tapered off to ensure the fuel system could keep the AFR's at a 'safe' level. I'd highly recommend changing injectors when exceeding 250rwkw. This is an interesting thread - however no one wants to state what a 'safe' AFR is. We're not talking about all makes and models here, rather specifically, XR6 Turbo's. My car's been tuned for 11.5 - 11.7 AFR for peak power, but I'm left somewhat confused when I hear other cars are tuned at 12.5 - 12.8 AFR - comparable with N/A AFR's. Scary stuff when 'safe' is the term used to determine optimum AFR's. Anyone ever watch drag video's of Jap cars (GTR's, Supra's etc) and notice the black weed pissing out of the exhaust when they're flying down the track running hi 9's / low 10's. Bet ya there definition of 'safe' AFR's aren't mid - low 12's. Rather mid 10's - low 11's.
  3. What constitutes a safe AFR? Ask 5 different people and you'll get 5 different answers.
  4. Do you mean purchasing a CAPA flasher or do you mean purchasing the tuning software? Buy the software and tune the car yourself I'm happy with the results I'm getting from mine.
  5. MC Motorsport is a hoot. Nothing quite like destroying a set of rear tyres trying to do a motorkhana!
  6. It doesn't. The 4" cat came with a flange plate, which had a 4" dia pipe welded to it then merged to twin 2.5" and welded to the factory exhaust. Apparently it was a 4-5 hour job to fit the lot.
  7. Valid point. GTP-330, get onto your rev head mate, tell him to get the thing off the wall and post it up.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hot of the press............. <div class='bbimg'><div class='bbimg'><div class='bbimg'><div class='bbimg'> </div></div></div></div> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice, but it's not the one asked for. The D & T sheet is the one to post. It made 390rwhp on Saturday before the XR6Turbo forum dyno day from what D & T tell me. Would be interesting to see what runs 001, 002 and 003 made on the Hyperdrive dyno..............
  8. Does the kit replace the pipe with the MCT sensor (it's the one that goes under the battery). Nice looking kit.
  9. Can you post up the one from the Huyperdrive day, then we can compare YTRY4 from the 'other' dyno.. Cheers.. Here's our Ute's from the other place.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here it is. Still waiting for the YTRY4 sheet from D & T.
  10. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. The car has an appetite for rear tyres now! The power flattens out due to the valve springs not coping, should have that rectified soon.
  11. Thanks for the update again M6 XR6T, very impressive numbers. If you don't mind me asking, what price did you pay for the SMB 4" dump and cat. Brett. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> $1000 including freight to Perth.
  12. Here's my dyno sheet, showing the 10 psi and 14 psi programs. Got to agree with Swanga's and XRT UTE's comments that you hear different opinions from people about performance shops. Find one you like and use them. There's a few to choose from now so your choices should be easy.
  13. Another further update: Installed the SMB 4" dump pipe and 4" cat, so the mods done to the car are as follows: Bigger injectors BMC Airfilter 100mm 2nd CAI Street Tuner (ASE) Intercooler SMB 4" dump pipe SMB 4" cat The engine retains stock valve springs, stock exhaust system after the cat, stock thermostat, stock intake piping, stock intercooler plumbing, stock BOV running on BP Ultimate 98. Of course, tuned with SCT Advantage Dealer Custom Tuning Software. Power has gone from 255rwkw @ 10psi to 285rwkw @ 10psi, and from 288rwkw @ 14psi to 311.2rwkw @ 14psi from the SMB dump pipe and SMB cat installation, without changing the tune. Tune will be looked at during the week. Graphs attached.
  14. $8000 would be closer to the money for a cobra kit. Check out the Stage 2 kit: http://www.nizpro.com.au/cobra_kits_main.html
  15. Just for the record, we are in agreement that the dyno reading of the F6 was reading high, and that a more realistic figure is around 400rwhp? YTRY4 and F6_Tornado, how much power did your cars make at D & T? Can you post the graphs? As a plug, PSI Performance in Wangara will be doing the tuning on the BA's as well in the near future So many tuners, so many options
  16. lol, didn't realise it was you behind me. Car's feeling pretty good now, instant wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd now Gotta get the tune sorted over the next week or 2 and install a set of valve springs too. It's amazing to see how much power these cars are making with minimal modifications; good tune, bigger injectors, good front mount intercooler and a decent dump pipe & cat are seeing these cars push 400rwhp effortlessly. All the while retaining stock emmissions, driveability and keeping the police off your case. Shame I missed ya, would have been good to catchup and say hello. Hopefully will see you at another venue. Congrats on the work of the F6's. Some great results there!
  17. I don't know where the 230 degree came from. from all the graphs I saw on the day were IT22. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Neither did we, hence the reason for asking the question. However, I did see with my own eyes, as others did, the IT figure of 230. I took a photo of the screen to make sure I wasnt seeing things. Guess we'll have to wait for YTRY4 to post his dyno sheet. Great power result nevertheless.
  18. Thanks to all for organising the day. I'm quite happy with the power output of the car. Graph attached. Congrats to Louie (YTRY4) on the power of his F6. That's something to be admired. One question though, which I assume will be easy to answer by a dyno operator, how does an intake temp of 230 (IT:230) affect power reading? I assume it was just a dyno error.
  19. Top result. Excellent to see these cars capable of running such quick times without sacrifising any driveability
  20. Plenty of k's on the odo mate. I ran mine with 600k's on the odo. The more the merrier.
  21. I'll run the boost to 1 bar with that setup, and will probably replace the in tank fuel pump too.
  22. What purpose would that serve? I've installed bigger injectors to make more power, not for cosmetic purposes. I have 3 programs in the flash box: F = Factory 1 = Stock program recalibrated for bigger injectors only 2 = 10 psi custom program 3 = 12 psi custom program Will spend all next week developing a tune for the SMB 4" dump pipe and SMB 4" cat to complement the Street Tuner front mount intercooler. While the development is being done I'll be sure to have PSI or D & T run the dyno in every different mode to see what the difference is. And no, the stock injectors will not be reinstalled. We'll use another MkII 6 spd for that.
