G'day Phil I recently bought a 2009 ttg and do some towing of a 2300kg boat trailer and found it works well. It has fantastic highway manners. Amazingly it will give me 19l/100km towing on the highway while fully loaded with 4 people and plenty of gear - and driving around the city will give about the same fuel economy with no towing and a lot less load to carry, the Missus usually uses in in the city though and a lead foot. Power is fantastic. Had a non turbo terr prior to this and it worked vwell until we bought the boat and found it worked a bit too hard on the highway, incidentally it used even more fuel when towing the same boat on the highway- consistent with the theory of how a turbo works. The 4pot front calipers are a noticeable improvement when braking hard. I'm wary of front end probs but so far no dramas, I takes solace in advice that these probs were rectified by the 09 model. There are some great deals around price wise, some 2010 models with 3 more yr warranty I notice. The equipment on board is kind of nice too with DVD player and switchable music for mum/dad up front while kids watching movies on a trip. Servicing costs from ford seem reasonable for the turbo and no evidence of slugging a premium just because its s turbo- so far anyway.
