  1. OK, Guilty as charged, reading a Expensive Daewoo story. Spotted in my local carsguide. A misprint or top secret blunder??? Cheers all, happy new year.
  2. Could it be the start of another "supercar scare".... Remember the early 70's, rapidly rising fuel costs, govt blackmail about hi-po cars. Wonder why ford/Expensive Daewoo have hovered round 300kw the last couple of years.? If the SS gets the 6L, you'd like to think the monaro should have had more kw, so maybe another way of forced limitations... I wish my cv8 had more than the 225 base version, but moreso wish it had the sequential auto of the T. And yes the T does drive better. So maybe just too many $$$ for Expensive Daewoo to bring it up to modern expectations. There could only be 1 other car to be re-born to generate that much public interest, c'mon Mr ford, christmas time is near - HO HO HO. Mr 66
  3. Confirming 2 from the '66 camp. Looking forward for a run. Jim

    A Wanna Be

There are those among us who will die never knowing. Please let it be sooner!
  5. Pretty well covered really...... Aussie's (and rest of the world), boycott that countries tourism. Let's rip a few messages to their embassy.... Couldn't pay me enough to go to those places!
  6. Short of a time machine and on board video....100% Bullsh1t free. I was surprised by the fact it did it. And semi regular member, no alias.....promise.
  7. Mine too, all stock, in full auto mode - even has a flash of the traction light to tell me to settle down....
  8. Hi all, Was talking to a cabbie the other night, asking of problems with his BA fairlane, he mentioned "the clunk". Said it was fixed during a service when the dealer shimmed the steering rack. So there's something obviously in the rack adjustment/allignment area. Cheers
  9. Now I haven't read any comments about this yet, but I do remember people reporting 'dud' turbo performance at one time..... Latest issue of Aust Muscle Car, a report on the F6 clutch fix, has small section of other problems where they mention early F6 and T's "left the assembly line minus a section of vital wiring loom, that linked the turbo and ECU. This cost those cars up to 20% loss in performance". Also mentions that T's were previously completed at FPV... So not any more???
  10. I'm wondering at what point the drag created by a 3.5" funnel would negate any potential kW gains.....?
  11. Shockwavexr6t, Your engine clunking sound, the injectors do make a dry lifter "tic"...? Could it be more of a rattling noise? that's how mine sounded when the drive belt tensioner "went", cause as the service guy told me, "they go quite often", hmmmm, more bulls hite! As for the rest of the problems, get straight back to the dealer, I think you normally get until the 3k service to get allignment issues fixed for free. But consider this, what else are they going to damage in the process??? Is it really worth fixing. Mr 66
  12. Confirming, date is ok with me. I'll work on some extra numbers.
  13. My old VS 165kw was dyno'd with a hollow cat, only made 116rwkw, at that time the average (stock) VS was around 108rwkw. It did make a distinct hollow ringing sound with the stock single system. Thinking of it, a hollow cat is probably the worst thing 'flow dynamically' wise to have. I would imagine any serious performance increase would require a complete package. (Again the VS - pacemaker pipes, twin cat, twin 2.5 straight through mufflers and the chrome tip only gave 24 rwkw extra - with std chip) As for them knowing what's inside, I do believe that having a working cat is not even part of the QLD roadworthy check, as long as something that formerly resembled it, is there. As for the polution, havent I heard which 'old' cars can run on unleaded - without cats.....same polution, if not more. JM2c Jim

    Can Cracker

Have also seen the "Auterra" OBD/CAN reader for Palm and PC. Round 200$ US. Looks like a neat toy.
  15. Put me down for probably 2. Mini cruise also sounding good. Thanks Jim
  16. Yep, sure sounds like a neat way to spend an arvo. Site talks about pine rivers shire, Petrie area I guess, not far at all. Mr66
  17. Fair enough I say, But what worries me is the ones out there that didn't make the show......!!! Anyone else thinkin mad max interceptor exhausts?
  18. Favourite hate at the moment...... Interviewees when asked a question....." yeah, no...." Does it for me!
  19. Sounds like a great trip.... And by the look of that pic, it's just so hard to be good all the time - aint it !!!
  20. Most of them are a bunch of lying carnts if you ask me... Had mine in for 3 days to get a paint chip touched, guaranteed me the work was done on site, but no, when I picked it up, " oh no sir, only 5kms down the road to the paint shop..." Drove home that arvo with a new rattling sound - that was the belt tensioner. "oh yes, they just go..." Well ok, but me thinks they just "go" with apprentices big revs. If it weren't for some form of warranty, I wouldn't trust them to put air in the tyres! Mr66
  21. Yeah, I test drove a manual monaro, the old 6 speed. After being used to the 4 speed in my mustang, the monaro manual just didnt do it for me, all that gear changing due to the terrible ratios, low down torque wasnt responsive enough. Might be better now with the 260kw and new 6 speed. Give the new monaro the 260+ with fords new 5 speed SSS auto, get rid of those bonnet vents, might be worth a look at.... Jim
  22. Was only commenting to the "experts" at work during the week... Had taken the Monaro for a run last weekend, after a couple of months cruising in the T..... Never thought I'd say it, but, the T has it all over the M in terms of vehicle dynamics. The M feels like a big heavy slug, even though lighter than the T. And I do see now why the auto cops a bagging, full marks to the T's SSS. Give it the open highway, M comes into it's own. Side by side in the garage.... Can't beat the M for style, sorry T fans! Cheers Jim
  23. I used to run toluene in my Galaxie, stopped the pinging, but got sick of measuring it out every fill, and was costing $3 a litre... Ran a 5% mix with fuel. Would be nice to see dyno comparison between that and PULP. Jim
  24. Ahhh, that's good then. Just plain hot! Well, good that it's normal anyway. Must remember to get some heat proof thongs..... Jim
  25. Have been wondering after a few uncomfortably hot drives in the auto T, is it normal to get large amounts of heat through to the drivers foot well? Daytime temps around 30 here in qld, but even driving on the highway, with loads of airflow, the amount of heat soak must be enormous. That nasty turbo thingy just too damn hot! That, or the heater is malfunctioning to the drivers floor..... Clues??? Jim
