  1. You need to buy polished material in the first place. I race karts and have my kart trailer lined with polished 'propellor' plate. The pattern is a bit different than the checker plate (which has patterns like the SBS symbol stamped into it). The propoellor plate has the same shape stamp mark, but there not in sets of 3. ....I agree that Stainless would be a better option for your floor, but if you want aluminium - then get some polished prpelllor plate!
  2. I have had a similar problem and it turned out to be the tyres getting very minor flatspots on them if the car sat still for longer than a couple of days (I travel for work often and the car sits at home) - it seemed to get worse as the tyres got older?? - new tyres (same type) problem seems to have gone. I wonder whether the tyres get harder as they get older and become more easily flat-spotted?? Anyway, I think it sounds like a tyre problem similar to what I had. ....hope that helps??
  3. G'day BALLBREAKER, Here is something I wrote back in 2004 - could your problem be the same?? "Picked up my Lightening Strike F6 on Dec 3rd 2004. Build No. 52, first one delivered into Tassie. Brembo's optioned + leather etc. 84 km's on the clock at delivery (apparently had 72 km's on the clock when it arrived to dealer.... 12 km's 'extra' for window tint etc.) ...Drove 35 km's and the dash started playing up. Both the speedo and tacho dropping to zero, despite travelling in fourth gear at around 100 km/hr. Also a 'lot' of lights flashing (check engine, traction control, oil pressure, fuel, temperature, seatbelts etc, etc) Took it back to the dealer, where it spent the weekend before getting fixed on Monday the 6th. They found a loose plug connector on the 'ICC'?? (computer on the inside firewall behind the console) ...Not a great way to start!!!" ...hope this might help????
  4. ...can anyone tell us what the TSB actually says??
  5. Yep, I agree with most of what bangm001 has said. My car is a lease vehicle. I didn't get any fleet buyers discount on my '04 BA Phoon, but that was a lot to do wit the fact that it was the first one purchased in Tassie, signed up for it without even seeing one, let alone driving one. (other than the proptotype at the 2004 Melbourne Motor Show) They just wouldn't negotiate. I paid too much - but have enjoyed the car. Attached are pictures of my tow pack installation...... I wouldn't hesitate to get an F6 again (my previous car was a 5.7litre Berlina) - if that helps
  6. Converted from VX Berlina Wagon - Gen III 5.7 V8 after I saw the Typhoon 'Prototype' at the Melbourne Motor Show in early 2005. Ordered the Typhoon in July '05 without even seeing one again, let alone sitting in one - not even an XR6T. Prototype was Lightining Strike - and after I saw it I had to buy the same. Picked up the Phoon on the 3rd December 2005 - Haven't looked back . (My wife now drives the Berlina Wagon - but I think she secretly wants a turbo too!!!) PS - Saw a Bionic Phoon with ZF Box with the 19 inch wheels at the dealers the other day - Absolutely Stunning!! Hmmmm .... I wonder if the wife would like a nice Lightning Strike Phoon???
  7. Hey Doc, Can I ask if this only happens in 6th? - Do you get the same noise in 4th/5th?? I have a BA F6 and its always had this really deep drone while travelling at any speed in 6th - although it gets worse at higher speeds. No noise in any other gear - not even the dreaded diff whine. 8. My BA F6 made 225rwkw with just on 3000km's on the clock. By the third run, and without much time between it was down to 218rwkw. Is this level of power drop normal after a few runs? (heat soak??)
  9. .....Sounds High? Over 25,000k's per year, 36 months, $32,000 residual incl GST, at just under $1,600 per month..... and that's on a car I paid way too much for! (First one in Tassie, paid deposit 5 months prior to release/delivery= no haggling power!!) - and I doubt I got the best lease deal either (Lease Company dictated by employer) Includes everything - fuel, rego, insurance, service costs, tyres etc. I also had them budget for extra tyres about 1 set per year at ~$500 per corner (won't last longer than 25,000k's if driven 'properly') and servicing costs (oil and filter every 7,500k's), etc Do It! -You won't regret it!
  10. I run mine at 41psi all round on the BA 18inch rims. I ran 38 originally, but since putting them up have noticed improved handling when 'pushing' a bit harder than normal. Good Luck with your Phoon
  11. I regularly tow my kart trailer around Tassie (south to north and return) with the Phoon. Under normal driving conditions I get around 14l/100k's, (hway and city) while towing I usually get around 17-19 l/100k's. (hway mostly) The loaded trailer is around 1200 kg's It makes a big difference how hard you drive... of course. I usually try and stay above 2,200 rpm while towing, which in 6th is around 110km/hr when towing. The Phoon has plenty of torgue down there and wil gladly wind boost on when the hills get steeper. If a steeper climb is ahead I will drop it back to 5th, then it doesn't feel quite so laboured near the top. You mention you tow at 3000rpm - any reason for not grabbing the next gear? ...just noticed your Escape is an Auto-guess that's why! ... or maybe I tow in too high a gear/too low with the revs?? - comments??
  12. I would agree .... worth every cent more you pay over an xr6T. ....F6 also had data dots - big plus for anti theft... and insurance $$$$
  13. ...Whatever happened to "You show me yours... and I'll show you mine"?? Heres a photo of mine I took for XR Man a couple of days ago. As he says, he's pretty happy with his...and I'm happy with mine. Hope the photo works! - How about posting us a picture of yours - let's see if it's as bad as you are saying.
  14. ...I also sit down here... quietly watching what's going on on the big island!
  15. ..Couldn't get any dealer to supply spats for my F6 - made my own carbon fibre set for the front - the rear is a bit more of a challenge - haven't bothered (yet). No problems with fitting a tow pack - just make sure when they cut the hole they do a neat job and then paint the cut edges the same colour as the bumper - I was pretty happy with the work they did on mine.

Geez Rob,..... I thought the two supercells you were talking about were those coming off the back tyres of that envi XR6T in your avatar!!
  17. ...makes sense given the BF will have Brembo's as standard fittment - they cost around $6,000 (and that's without the luxury car tax on top!)
  18. ....and don't forget to apply the LWF...... you'll be lucky to see your car before December!! I got given the same BS story last year (almost 12 months to this day!!) LWF = Lying Weasel Factor - applied regulalry by all good Ford Dealerships Good Luck Anyway - I think you've made the right decision!!!
  19. $1,165 with Shannons - 39 year old in Tassie. Mods no problem - just make sure to let them know. Next best quote was $2,200 with Just Cars. RAC and AAMI didn't want a bar of it!!
