  1. Yeah I can understand where the OP is coming from. For what it's worth my GS is turning out to be a monumental frustration. Suspension and tailshaft issues primarily. I can't remember where I read it but I found it funny. Struck a chord with me and IIRC it went something like " some cars are designed, while some are just put together". My ute certainly falls into the latter category. The engines are fantastic, but the small things really do let them down. Hopefully my issues will be resolved in the next few days, because if they aren't, there is a brand spanking new Mitsubishi EVO with my name on it.
  2. Yep, sure is. The pinion is off centre, and I'm guessing that's why they have chosen to use two CV joints instead of universal joints. I wouldn't be concerned with the way it looks, just make sure the pinion angle is set properly.
  3. Hey nosedog, my tailshaft is exactly the same and I've got standard suspension in mine.

    F6 4 Pot To 6

If you're too fussed on size, all FPV 19" rims fit. You could always throw on a set of rims off a FPV GS. They're factory and I'm pretty sure they were the standard rim on the BF GTP. I've seen them sell for about $1500. Usually have some usable rubber on them for that price too.
  5. Anyone know what the acceptable run out is on the ute tail shaft? Mine's at 020" thou and makes a dreadful racket between 85 -100 kmh. Would a balance cure it? My driveshaft bloke wants to straighten it before he does any balancing.
  6. No idea why it uploaded like that. Don't have many pics of my ute actually. I'll grab a pick of the rear tomorrow. But if size and looks is a concern I'd look at 4 pot rears. Single rears look a bit odd. Better, but still odd. I was advised against going for 4 pots on the rear as utes suffer from pad knock off. A sedan should be fine.
  7. Race brakes in Sydney FTW. An absolute pleasure to deal with. I'm sure they will be able to find a solution to your braking needs. Actually I just realised that sounds like an advertisement. But they are great to deal with. I have never received better customer service from a automotive specialist.
  8. I rand Autotech yesterday and they were only too happy to help. Gave me a very competitive price, and after the driveshaft centre bearing is replaced, I will book it in. They were great to talk to, asked about the current mods and how I have driven it and what I plan to do in the future. They didn't give me the " nah you need this mate, you do that mate..." Reply that I've had many times before. Thanks for the advice.
  9. Brilliant, thanks everyone. Just the information I was after. I will call CMS and Autotech tomorrow and see what they can offer. I don't mind travelling for quality.
  10. Also when I rang them, both were incredibly helpful and were great to talk to. However one was 20 percent cheaper than the other.
  11. Hi everyone, I've competed a forum search but it didn't yield a lot of results. So I thought I would throw out a few questions to the collective masses. Has anyone had any experience with ESP Racing or Gentech in Canberra? Also I'm fairly new to the tuning scene. I've only ever had one car tuned, which was a BF XR8 ute done by Blue Power in Melbourne. I pretty much just left in their capable hands seeing as though they enjoy a great reputation. So that being the case, when I go and see a canberra based tuner is their anything I should specifically ask for? Obviously I want a safe tune so I was thinking I would ask them to keep the rev limit as stock and the air /fuel ratios conservative. Am I licking the right window? Cheers - Dave

    F6 4 Pot To 6

Just calipers need changing. Pretty sure the rotors sizes are standard between 4 and 6 pot. Utes didn't get the upgraded rears in the FG. A few people have put the 6/4 package on, but have experienced pad knock-off. I know the BA and BF's you could option the big brakes, so I'm not too sure of the inherent differences between the B series and the F series. I'd factor in for some stronger upper control arm bushes too. The 6 pots, with the increase braking force, have a tendency to cause the wheel to camber in. This basically squashes the bush and causes the whole front end to shake.
  13. Happy Birthday DW260!

  14. Yes more info needed. My ute was built in August 2011 so if they made running changes I would expect it to have them... I'll run out with a torch and see if it's one or two piece...
  15. Mine came with 6 kilometres on the odo. Anything up to 20 I would consider to be normal.

    2011 Fg Turbo

Yep - Picked mine up last week. August 2011 build FG Turbo ute in lightning Strike and fitted with the luxury pack. Absolutely loving it too. I've always opted for the XR8 ute, but seeing as though you can't get them without jumping into an FPV, I was forced to go for the turbo. I've only had it a week and can't for the life of me understand why I kep going for the XR8! Neotim - Have you experienced any problems since you lowered yours?
  17. I'm pretty keen to learn more about this. I bought my FG Turbo ute last week and have been scouring the net for more information relating to it. From what I've read on this forum and others, it seems to be a common issue, but I've seen plenty of tradesman lugging tools and supplies around in turbo's, XR8's and the regular poverty-pack models. So I wonder if it only affects those utes punching out more than standard amounts of power, or those that are driven really hard or only those fitted with the 6 speed ZF. Surely driving around with a decent load in the tray, would be akin to having it lowered?... I have read that Ford were looking at making some running changes to the tail shafts in the later build utes, but cannot find anything to confirm.
  18. Hello everyone! Long time reader first time poster and I love the place, it's far more humorous than alot of other forums, but anyway... I fix helicopters in the Australian Navy and been doing that for about 11 years now. Unfortunately I don't have the turbo. I'm forced to spend my driving time peering over the glorious bonnet bulge of a BA XR8, but that doesn't matter does it?
