My car was fitted with the lights on feature and looking at the fuse panel there doesn't seem to be a fuse for it there. Skimming over the ford instructions posted by BATRB-6, I think the fuse may be part of the loom installed behind/above the panel? Is there a fuse hidden in that extra loom or do is the only solution to follow those instructions (backwards of course) to remove the feature?Don't really want to pull it all out seeing as it has a few wires crimped onto the main loom, I'm too much of a hack My current solution to having the feature is to just drive around with the parkers on during the day. It drove me nuts having 2-3 people a day yelling out "your light's are on"

Haven't reset the trip computer since picking up my T about 2600kms ago, average consumption is sitting on 20.1 L/100km Hope the boss doesn't get too mad when the Shell & Mobil send the fuel card bills
-
Mines made the noises pretty much since day 1. Haven't had a chance to drive any other 6 speeds yet, hopefully a few of the guys at work get their deliveries soon and we can do a bit of a comparison.
-
Yeh and when its leased as a company car, whose insurer will not accept any mods, you are accepting the responsibility of driving an uninsured car But yes, a normal lease is no problems.

The premium brake option is the same as the FPV standard fitment and I'm 99% sure that the base HSV clubsport brakes are the same also. So one would assume that aftermarket pad options are available. Have to agree with Ken here. Sure they're not good value when compared to the rest of the market or that they SHOULD be standard. But some people like factory fitment only, while others like me have leases which do not allow modifications, so you're not left much choice. I'd rather spent the cash and have them, than still be driving on stock brakes!!!!

Mines got just over 2000kms now I think, no abnormal noises while idling. But I do get a rather annoying bearing(?) noise sometimes in 2nd and a lot in 4th while pushing the car. Not much good mechanically so no idea what you'd call it, but it definately doesn't sound good. I suspect its a faulty box as these noises first showed up around 200-300kms. Not sure if I'll mention any problems to the dealer, they'll only make things worse and leave me without a car. Easier to just turn up the audio! I've also had a few issues with the 3rd-4th change. Fast or slow, even making sure I'm doing the right footwork it will snag half way between neutral and 4th. Won't let you goto 4th at all, so go up to neutral, then into 4th (all without lifting off the clutch) and its fine.

I think I had the overboost twice last week while cruising around. Going up a slight hill, in 3rd or 4th gear, at about 3000-4000rpm the car just starting missing, exactly like it would when TC kicks into nazi mode! I just kept the foot down and after 2-3secs it stopped. If that's "overboost" then the MkII isn't fixed! I'm hesitant to get Ford to do a reflash if it's going to make matters worse. I'm happy for fuel consumption to increase though, just don't want the power to decrease!!! It's not enough as it is

Bingo! I got a BA XR6 in Nov 02 and had constant brake problems for at least the first 12 months. When they weren't shuddering, they'd be casting doubt in my mind if I'd actually pull up in time! There was no thought required when my BAII XR6-T arrived this month, premium brakes were the first item on the option list to be ticked, they should be standard for a car of this size and weight! Brembos should be the $3k option, but hey what do you want from an Aussie car maker

Now that can open a whole new can of worms just there haha! Some people will argue that you have to do a dyno run in the gear with a ratio of 1:1 as anything else will alter the power output to a significant amount. Others will say that using a gear other than the 1:1 ratio will mearly change the output by a couple of kws at the most. As for the rest of your post, reminds me of my younger cousins. Why why why  PS: I don't have an answer for any of your questions, but would love to know why too
-
Tell me about it! Yeh anything is better than ford, but between the 4 companies I mentioned in my first post, there must be hundreds of places to goto. Trying to come up with some sort of shortlist of good ones.
-
Yeh but isn't it all relative to the new ratios in the 6spd? I thought that once you factor in new diff & gear ratios it was pretty much the same? LOL! How stupid of me to think otherwise

Are you sure about this.....I thought that from 1990 or was it 1991 it was law to have the brake light in the rear screen??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sure I'll be swiftly corrected if I'm wrong - but I think the more recent of the MKI off the line were missing the centre brake light as well. And rightly so considering there's a strip of LEDs on the spoiler right behind it! Trent. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well pointed out! Why the hell is the hump still on the parcel shelf???

I think the problem with this whole topic is that people want to look at dynos as an item for comparison. IMO a dyno's sole purpose is to tune (and even diagnose faults) for where you simply cannot do it on the street. Especially with the Mexican governements law enforcement policies To answer the question though, out of those 2, I'd go for the mph/weight being the more accurate or comparitive figure.

18's remain unchanged. Rear armrest also has 2 cupholders built into it. Front cupholder in console also features a removable tray now, which you can reverse. Window switches are illuminated (Can't say I've checked the back ones, but passengers is so I'll assume they are. Otherwise, what he said!
-
Can't say I agree with the MkII 17's. Seen a few now and I don't really like them. Glad I went for the 18" option :D Plus the 18's are easier to clean
-
 at the colour wars!!! Other than the obvious here, I found that tar/bugs/bird crap and some road grime was really quite a bas*ard to clean off a white car. No matter how much scrubbing you did, it just wouldn't come off. Until I found "Big Kev's something or other goo remover" in the laundry!!! Tiny drop on a lint free cloth and whatever crap is on the paint is gone with a single wipe. Bloody amazing stuff. Haven't noticed any adverse effect to the paintwork. After the spot is clean, I just go over it with the car wash and chamios dry as usual. It's gotta be better than Jiff

My car presently drives well but having never received a car from pre-delivery that actually had a decent alignment or even correct tyre pressure, I'm not giving the dealer the benefit of the doubt! My fleet company has stipulated that they will only cover work done by a Bridgestone, Dunlop/Beaurepaires or Goodyear service place. My limited experience with these franchises over the years has not inspired my return! Can anyone recommend a decent one in the melbourne metro area that can be trusted to do a good job? And not butcher my wheels at the same time?
-
I've always done the drive it like you stole it thing with new cars and never had a probelm. Found that the cars are always at the pointy end of the field performance wise compared to the same models so I think my run in helps..... Hey, I'll believe anything
-
LOL, I picked mine up on Thursday arvo as well and thought someone was out to get me with that damn rain!!! But rain, hail or shine its still a great drive
-
that's an outrage! Surely it should have gone to Murphy for his wonderfully generous comments.....
-
Yeh I noticed when playing with the rear ones that the whole bumper moves around a bit. Seems pretty flimsy actually. First service isn't far away so I'll get them removed then.
-
Ok that's quite enough from you! No I didn't I got Premium Brakes, 18's and the Premium Sound! I reckon the colour is great, only bas*ard is you hit a tiny puddle and the car is filthy!!!! Getting back to the topic I tried to get those lugs out with a few things and gave up. I'm gonna get some spare ones and just cut the out or something. Either that or I'll get the dealer to rip em off at the 3k service.
-
That's exactly right, and as an owner you shouldn't put up with it! It's simply not acceptable for a car that is marketed as a sports car to come undone during "spirited" driving!
-
What he said Just picked up my car yesterday and as you'd expect, it was bloody raining! Thought I'd leave the TC on until I got used to the car, but was quite surprised when it still let the back tyres spin a bit and even let the ass end sqirm around. Good to see it doesn't use the same stupid big brother method like other cars that practically shutdown all the power!
