  1. "Salary" if fine if it works both ways - can even be brilliant. You're paid x-amount to do a job/fill a position - the hours, responsibilities and requirements should be known by both parties. It's when the job creep comes in that it starts working only one way - the "reasonable overtime" becomes the expected hours of work, the positions that are vacated become your responsibility too, work finished for the day and "oh - can you give us a hand with this then" instead of clocking off becomes the norm.
  2. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/76044-modding-your-fg-xr6-turbo/ is my goto post/list for 1st mods to an FG Upgrading over time can sometimes be a fair bit costlier - with most mods after the first tune requiring the tune to be refreshed Most important bit is finding a tuner you can trust and work with him towards your goals and the stages to do them in - what area are you in (am sure you will get pointed to a few well regarded ones)?
  3. Everyone asleep or doing stuff?
  4. Drop into a bike shop, try on a few helmets and see if you're S, M, or L, XL, XXL etc There's other sizes, but if you go 1 size bigger than what's "snug" it'll be fine for what you need it for.
  5. Ooh - there's a thread on possible group buy ideas - should we see if there's any need for stripes, or if they'd only interest 1 or 2 people?
  6. City driving ruins economy. A tune will give you more power and also better economy. Get the car a check over by a tuner who know's the vehicles - could be something as simple as a O2 sensor that's causing the needle to move quicker than the tacho.
  7. Dropped the kids off, bought a bottle of Lagavulin (16yo single malt) and just put on the brisket that needs to be checked every hour or so til tomorrow - Am drinking alone and I don't care
  8. Pretty much the same as Adelaide the day before, but 10 degrees hotter/colder/windier edit: and 10 years into the future edit2: will be good if we can get there - both our Pitlane tweaked cars will get their first plays
  9. Costco membership can be recouped in just one big item, so not really too big a deal. Costco is bulk - stuff like nappies, laundry etc would save you heaps (if you don't mind doing 1 big shop every 9 months) Can't beat Aldi for price, but range is limited, lines are out the door and brands aren't recognisable (they are generally good quality though) Coles is my go to for my weekly shop - Local IGA is too expensive, Aldi is too painful and Costco isn't local. If you can be bothered - maybe do Costco once every couple of months to stock up on stuff for the new born, stuff for the household, paper goods, bulk stuff etc Aldi every other week for the long life stuff - stock up on cans, pastas, stuff for the shelf etc Coles weekly for perishables - meat, fruit, veg, milk etc - stuff for the week ahead and stuff you've run out of inbetween Aldi shops. Pick up from Aldi the stuff you run out of between Costco trips. Personally - too hard for me - I just go to coles, but if you could cut your shopping bill in half it would make a huge difference to the motivation.
  10. I was in the 80's - an XJS was the hottest thing 13 year old me had seen - one of them or an Audi Quattro - those cars were horn As wrapped as dad is with his Skoda though - I can see the tinge of jealousy/regret whenever he jumps in mine. Words like "great deal", "value for money" "sensible choice" etc get said far too often. Calder was cancelled :( - no chance to let the beast spread it's wings tonight. Hopefully the meet at the end of the month will go ahead.
  11. Drives like it's on rails (or it would if you actually drove it on rails)
  12. The Skoda is dads - bought it very heavily discounted after they were used as the support vehicles for one of the Otway bike races. I would have snapped it up if he hadn't. Citroen Pluriel (based off the C3) is my sisters car - think they got the honour of "Quickest/hardest depreciating car" in the UK - I call it the Pleurisy, viral peice of crap that it is. Definitely bought because it looks quirky and my sister believes herself to be "different". Golf is mums - even that's too large for her - manages to keep sideswiping posts, poles, gutters and parked cars, thus the garage spot all to herself. All up, I've got my dad to thank for snapping up the Octavia - if he hadn't, I would have (the price was that good) and I'd have never bought the Ford, never been looking for info on them and never found the forum.
  13. Start be telling her she's a few inches OUT of the kitchen
  14. The driveway at the moment The black one down the end will make you happy.
  15. I reckon she wants a Herrod intake or a PW intercooler
  16. Will be giving the car a run at Calder tonight - will be interesting to see the difference between when it was stock and now. Should be a nice, cold night - hopefully the new tyres can stick
  17. Will depend on the price (and the report back on what they actually achieve) - definitely interested
  18. Sounds like you're going to end up costing me more money :P   Will be interested on what he has to say about performance/tune from one.
  19. If it changes airflow to the point it requires a tune then it may be something of benefit.
  20. Plus get rid of that weird looking cone thing that is in the engine bay.   Have actually had a kid point at it and ask "is that the turbo?"
