  1. It's the Cartman Brand Anal Probe interfering with the electronics you have under your seat
  2. Reminding the kids why they should bring handhelds and earphones in the car
  3. Friday :D Half a day to go - got the office to myself this arvo and home to myself this weekend. Beer, pizza and games tonight I think - sleep in tomorrow
  4. Did I mention I moved the couch from the loungeroom to the patio? (or will have the day before your next visit)
  5. Hopefully not too rambling and gets across the point that I'm slightly impressed with the new setup If it's seems too wordy, imagine how the kids felt on the way to Yea listening to me comment on every turn, bump and puddle
  6. Cheers - will do Don - I said "a cup of coffee" - may have neglected to mention that it was yours, and that I was on the single malt
  7. Copy of my post in the Shockworks section on the fordforums (needs a login to read, so just can't post a link) I think it's relevant here as well so will post it here as well --------------------- As good as they were on my first impression - tonight I was blown away again. Had to take the kids up to Yea from Frankston - up through Toolangi etc (not the best/smoothest road at the best of times) - and the conditions were totally horrendous. We're talking wipers on max constantly, large puddles of standing water, rivers flowing across the road, maybe 10-20m visibility at times and rain covering the road so the surface was a mystery - that sort of stuff. Hit my first "water hazard" just after Yarra Glen - one of those puddles that cover about half the road - only the left hand tyre track ones. Mate - the car reacted about as much as a Sherman Tank would have. Seriously - I was expecting the usual "grab" and steering response from the LH front but there was ABSOLUTELY nothing. I'm not talking "ooh - that was heaps better than before". I'm saying ZERO effect on the car, the steering or the handling. This continued the whole way there and back. Next one that opened my eyes was a part where 2 roads and a side road meet. Imagine a 10m stretch where 3 different layers of asphalt (1 from each road) meet, never smoothed down, potholes, divots, lines scored in the road etc. This part has always unsettled the car - even at 80km/h in the dry. Tonght, at 100km/h and in the wet (same standing water as mentioned above) it may as well have been freshly paved. I felt the surface changes - my passengers felt the surface changes, but the car just laughed at them and shrugged them off. With those mentioned I thought I was done with being impressed for the night. Nup - not at all. On the way back (after dropping the kids off) there's a nice, 2 lane roundabout where I often use the outside lane to sneak past some slower moving vehicles when turning right (both lanes can turn right - the last roundabout on the Yarra Glenn bypass for those who know the area). You sort of hook left then sweep right to get through this roundabout - ideally with a bit more speed than the cars in the inside lane, so you can exit the roundabout ahead of them where the lanes merge. Here I was, waiting for the body roll and awkwardness on the change of direction from the left hook and into the right sweep as it's always given me..... Nup. Not tonight. There was no body roll, no shifting of weight and absolutely no awkwardness - this was like going through the "S"'s in a go-kart instead of a rollercoaster in a boat compared to how it was before. I almost turned around and did it again it was such a different experience. Shortly after this roundabout you get the sharp left over train tracks - even at 20km/h the rear would jump around, chatter and argue over them. Tonight it was as if there wasn't even 2 rear wheels on the car. Not only did the car not react at all to the tracks - I didn't even feel the slightest bump. The confidence these coilover give me and the car is unbelievable. I'm not talking "Awesome, I can take this corner 20km/h faster than I could before" gusto type confidence. I'm talking one hand on the wheel, relaxed, enjoying the drive rather than two hand gripping, white knuckles, bloodshot eyes peering into the pelting rain trying to see what the roads like ahead type confidence. 2 hours up, 2 hours back in some really terrible driving conditions and stepping out of the car feeling rested type confidence. AAA+++ would buy again type confidence All that said - I will disclose that I'm coming from a stock suspension setup with no experience of any other solutions that are out there, but I can honestly say I'd be very surprised if any other combination of shocks, swaybars, springs, bushes etc could possibly have been a better setup for me. I am blown away by how stiff and flat my car now handles, yet how compliant and comfortable the suspension is. On absolutely everything that's been thrown at it so far. And I've only done 300km's on them between picking the car up, my 1st impression cruise and getting home tonight - could not have imagined a better, short test if I'd been asked to. Am still hoping to see how they go on a couple of dirt roads with different surfaces and also after I've had a play with the dampening and found a few places to attack with a bit of anger, but they have already paid for themselves with the differences I've noticed in even this short time. Hopefully I can get to the other environments while the stock setup is still fresh in my mind so the comparisons will be apparent.
  8. Mick, Any chance of a comparison Dyno printout of mine and BenDoCo's runs (conditional on Don's consent of course) like you did with the stock intercooler and PW intercooler cars earlier? I reckon we'd both find it very interesting and informing with the chat's we've had about how and why we think our cars perform so differently with similar power, but different boost levels and hardware. Would be interesting to see if what us amateurs sort of tossed round over a cup of coffee after the races as to what we sort of think might, maybe be happening actually resembles what the figures show
  9. It's also an opinion and selling point of the manufacturers vehicles in question. One of the major ones - one they use to differentiate the product from both their own lineup and that of their competitors. As such, of course it's going to be open to discussion - especially when the figures given seem to be over or under quoted and open to interpretation and/or bias. FFS - a footy team changes the colour/design of their jumper and the discussion lights up, and that's something that has totally zero relevance to the performance of the team Two much loved vehicle marques are having their swan song and producing something special to close the books with.- both at the same time and both with bold statements. If there wasn't heated discussion by those who love, those who hate and those who love/hate each of the different models then there would be something very wrong going on. When the headline reads "The most powerful xxxxxxxx ever" or "The most powerful Australian car ever" people are going to test, talk about and argue about that. If there wasn't a market of people who did care about such things Ford would never have reintroduced the V8, V8 touring cars wouldn't exist and, god forbid, the XR6T we all love so much would never have even been contemplated. Sure - it can be tiresome to filter the wheat from the chaff if you're trying to take the discussions seriously at times and a lot of it does come down to personal opinion, selective reading and dick size measuring at times, but if it wasn't there at all then it's game over for the enthusiast car scene, aftermarket products and great clubs, events and forums such as this one. Personally - without discussion like this, and before I stumbled upon it the XR6T wasn't even a blip on my radar when it came to choice of car for my next purchase. If it wasn't for people waving their dicks around yelling out "How freaking powerful/good/potent and easy to mod is my car" they would still be under the radar and I'd probably be driving around in a Skoda (true story - not taking a poke at Kimberley) and been happy with it. Thank f*ck for dick waving dyno whores
  10. Just got back from a night drive up bush - am happy with the tint I got put on - any darker and I'd be having second thoughts Made it hard to take the kids through the drive through - can't wind the windows down til tomorrow arvo Definitely helped with the headlights behind me - on that trip I'm constantly having to adjust the mirror. Heaps of cars with trailers/caravans/boats/floats etc and heaps of dicks with poorly adjusted HID's in their dad's Beemers and X5's Didn't have a single issue tonight.
  11. Surely Dags isn't the only mod who would do such a thing? If not too busy and wanted to test what happened to my "follow" list, feel free to put my name back to Raband and I'll see if it deletes my current list, gives me back my old one or doesn't change anything
  12. Not sure if it's an issue with the forum, a known occurring issue or just a one off fluke that happened to me, but with my recent nick changes I lost all the threads I had on my "follow" list
  13. Is no where near as dark as we used to see/get Probably about as dark as I'd want it though for a daily (maybe I'm just getting old and cranky) Will be interesting tonight in the dark hills how happy I am with it Was in a mates car with far darker than legal tinting - was "ok" on the road during the day, but at night or in a dark carpark it was far too dark for me - he had to wind the window down to see when parking - screw that
  14. All the best hoarspower - got to be great to be nearing the end How long til results etc?
  15. Windows finally tinted Yesterday Today
  16. If you're selling a car with "most powerful" as one of the draw cards - then yeah - comparisons do matter.
  17. We talked (or I asked about it) - too hard to match it with flow for the LPG - injectors etc Was my initial "bright idea" when I first considered gas and tuning - E85 for max power, LPG for good power/max economy.
  18. Ta, Will have to come in for a 98 tune one day (once my wallet has a chance to recover from the last hit)
  19. Ah nice, thanks for the explanation Would the cooler/intake go towards explaining how I got the same power on 95 that he got on 98 (given that we both have injectors/cat)? edit: thanks for the other run/comparison - definitely shows the difference a decent cooler makes in IA. If I wasn't convinced with what I got I am now :D edit2: did the other owner end up joining the group buy? Show him the comparison if he needs a push
  20. Quoted for prosperity - use it as you will Kimberly
  21. Nice comparison - not quite equal though with the LPG keeping things a bit cooler? (spotted the red curve a mile off ) edit: temps off my 95 octane run (test #9179) might show it a bit better? same power as the stock cooler's car/run much hotter day.
  22. Still needs to move relative to the ground to get lift. Only the pilot can stop that from happening - not the treadmill operator
  23. Pilot would need to not want it to take off for it not to - if he wanted to take off it will (only way it wont move on the treadmill and take off is if he tries to keep it still - light throttle only) depends if the treadmill is black or silver edit: I have knowledge of these things: I have been in a plane and have used a treadmill
  24. The cooler being the weak point holding it back from more? Then the intake being the next one in line?
  25. Would be an interesting project for you if you ever got bored Mick Similar power to Bel's car Chuck the stock cooler in and see what difference it makes everything else considered equal and taking heat soak out of the equation
