  1. Hi guys Where is best place to get replacement ignition keys for my 2004 T here in Melbourne? Ford just quoted me $350.00 which sounds a little high ! Regards Ken
  2. Hey guys Very annoying. HVAC/center console illumination has stopped working in my '04 BA T. Radio and all else works fine but no back lighting - can't see anything on HVAC at night. Is there a specific fuse or if it's the globe, where is that little fella?? Ken
  3. Guys Had exact same problem after my son had car on a country run. I would have sworn that he had blown the turbo unit. Pulled everything apart - pipes, turbo, actuator, wastegate etc.. but no problems at all !! Symtoms were only evident under hard acceleration - would even build boost and go only when throttle applied progressively! It suddenly dawned on me that it was the same style of problem as plugs playing up but in a NA - but no miss fire - that is until under heavy boost!!! I switched plugs and all problems magically disappeared - a veritable miracle! I thought I should be cannonised and be known as Saint DaKing !!
  4. BJ I use Ryco cos they are easy to comeby and have a reasonable name. I change oil less than every 10,000klms so oil is always pretty good. Oh, I only use Penrite Synthetric atm but may change to a brand that is easier to comeby - gotta travel to get Penrite. I didn't change the pipe as I guessed it was a little bigger that the screnn and should be ok given clean oil regularly changed - where do you stop I suppose? Any way - do the screen as soon as you can as this is wot will cause the turbo to blow. You may wanna lube the Turbo Actuatiuon Solenoid while you are at it - made va small difference in mine and car now goes like the clappers from stand still. Yeh !!! :-) Kenny
  5. Removed the screen last night and did full service - air filter, oil filter and Penrite SIN 15-40 synthetic oil. All up a bit of a bugger of a job to do but cetainly in the realms of normal people. I followed the instructions in first post and didn't need to cut down my 24mm spanner and didn't need a long 24mm socket to get the screen holder from the block - just patiently used 24mm open ender with 24mm ring on other end. Fiddly but can be done with 1 x large spark plug socket (rubber removed), 1 x 24mm socket, 1 x 24mm open-ender/ring-ender and lots of patience. I got the patience by promising myself a beer if I didn't lose my temper at any time doing the job! Removed air box and oil filter to get access. Threw the screen in the bin. All happy now with some peace of mind that the turbo is getting plenty of good oil. btw - the screen was getting pretty blcked. Car has done 80K's
  6. Go buy a factory original from an old bloke. It will have been looked after and more probably not thrashed. Given the cost to repairs - turbo, boxes etc..... pay more for the right car - low K's, old bugger, and, factory standard - and save on the maintenance costs!! You can`'t go too far wrong if you take the time
  7. Phillips Vision Plus keep blowing in both my T and my Landcruiser - wouldn't touch them again!! Ken
  8. Hey man! You gotta get your head around the fact that in marriage you are not the slave! I learnt far too late that if you don't do what YOU want - then you will always being doing what SHE wants you to do - after marriage they show their real colors which is to treat you like the house boy and ATM Go get the farkin car now and tell her to sit on it !!!
  9. Funny thing It seems to me that the car is still for sale and now at $35,000 !!! I got a BA 1 T and will go look at F6 Typhoon's now
  10. Can you hook me up jc20b? DaKing
  11. Hey Power Jet. So you got Flash Tuner? Which one did you go for, where did you buy it and how much $'s? I have BA Mk I completely stock and want a couple of tunes - thinking of running a 10psi tune if possible and safe. DaKing

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Gents, I have just replaced the front rotors on my '04 T with DBA 4000 Series 6x6 slotted and Bendix Ultimate pads and are very happy so far. A simple job to do and the pedal feels a little more "solid" and less spongy. Stopping power seems to be a bit better too (not yet run in though) I got the rotors and pads from Hi Tek Brakes in Moorabbin with the rotors being $290 for both and $125 for the pads - ask for Cam. Those guys did a great job of looking after me. I will stick with the standard rear rotors and get the Ultimate pads for the rear when needed. Regards Ken
  14. The FG'ly Will make a great taxi!
  15. Dewd My '04 T has plenty of evidence of probs in a MkI - I have learnt first hand to stand back and wait till a MkII. Reminds me of the story of the two bulls on top of the hill looking at all the cows in the meddow below. The young bull says to the older bull "lets run down there and f^@K ourselves a cow, the old bull turns to the young bull and replies "lets walk and f^@k ALL the cows!" A little wisdom and patience goes a very long way.
  16. Same platform so just more lipstick on same old pig.
  17. Wouldn't touch a MkI Falcon again - brakes, diff, radiator, offer a 4 speed and then bring out MKII with whole new 6 speed (GRrrrrr!) and a host of other improvements on the MKII - at a better price point than a MkI - never again. Ford had better get it's act together or it is going the same way as Mitsubishi. Hang on, that may BE THE PLAN ANYWAY GUYS - NO Fairlane/LTD, No wagon update, the FG is just a cheap reskin - I think Ford is dropping Aussie production as fast as they can. Given the quality and range of choices out there for cars - only a sucker would by the MkI FG!!
  18. alpha I bought the Ford iPod AUX adaptor - $92 - and installed it in about 30mins. Didn't really need to pull apart the dash as in the instructions - saved a lot of mucking around. I unplugged my Nokia Bluetooth car kit from the BLUE connector behind the fuse box and then connected up the wiring loom that came with the kit. As someone said earlier, the loom suppliees power to both AUX and MEDIA ("Media"on Premium sound). Connected it all up and then gave it a shot. Now this is how silly I can get - I tested the iPod but had virtually no volume which meant that as I swithed betweeen radio and AUX for iPod - the volume of the radio would blow me out the door. What I had not done was turnm on the power to the little amp that comes with the kit - it is powered via the ignition!! I had the ignition off. Turned on the ignition - or accesories - and all works perfectly. The kit enables me to run the iPod through the Premium Sound and also supports full mute and sound via the steroe for the Nokia mobile phone! So both the iPod and phone work perfectly. Clever boys at Ford to include this capability in the Premium sound. I am very happy with the whole set-up and a great little unit. I haven't noticed any hissing - but my hearing is pretty stuffed so I wouldn't notice it anyways. Many thanks to all the helpers on this topic - esp Seena T
  19. I like them - nice choice Daking
  20. Hey Senna T What wheels are you running on your car? look a bit BBSsy Daking
  21. Guys Just had the car serviced and ended up with petrol smeel in boot and cabin. Any known problems that could be the culprit? btw - fuel filter was replaced during service but doesn't seem to be leaking. Daking
  22. Gents many thanks - I will get the kit this arvo and give it ago over the weekend - in between rebuilding the washing machine, digging the new veggy patch, mowing the lawn, doing some wotk on the new bathroom, and, any other orders the missus will have waiting for me when I get home tonight !!! Dakimng (Ken)
  23. Senna T I also have a Nokia bluetooth car kit plugged into the Premium sound and the connectors on the iPod adptor look horribly like those for the car kit - I get the feeling that both the phone car kit and the iPod adaptor can't be connected at the same time - Ford Accessories on their web site said something about this. Do you know if both my phone kit and the iPod adaptor from Ford can be conneted (piggy backed) at the same time? Daking (Ken)
  24. senna T The kit I was offered had a wiring loom, a small box 5cmx5cmx2cm, a cable that plugs into iPod with what looks like a volume control wheel in the center of cable plus a whole lotta instructions. Price quoted was $92. Is this the kit to go for so that I don't get the free banshee? Daking I was 10min from buying the boosted kit until I read this- I have an aftermarket amp in the car. Will the whinning sound be more evident. Also will it fit a gen1 apple ipod or would I have to another adaptor.
