  1. Oh ok fair enough ratter! Thanks mate! Yeah thanks masda74! You are probably right just seemed like a good deal getting all the parts installed for pretty much 500 $ plus tune! Z2TT, yeah I've been researching quite alot through these forums and have sussed out the better quality gear! Still not going for huge power anyways sp the mods seem pretty basic compared to some of the fg turbos out there!
  2. No worries STAINLESS thanks for the tip Yeh I know that's not why your doing it ratter! To be honest, I didn't think that there would be an issue if its all installed properly, and the parts are good quality bits that's been recommended in this thread! How would one cars power different from another car with the same engine and mods? That's not being smart, actually just wondering! Yeah secaboy looks like the way to go! Didn't realise it was going to be an issue haha haven't had much experience with modifying cars before
  3. Yeah when I see him next I'll tell him I want it taken to pitlane! The installation of parts should be pretty standard yeah?
  4. Ratter, I haven't organised a tuner yet, but he wanted to take it to the guy around the corner from him who, he usually gets to do the tune. He said will be $700 which I presume is around the standard. He reckons with my mods I should just see 300rwkw but I'm not sure if he lowered his expectations because he thought that was the max that I wanted, not the min. I want to see if he can get it down to pitlane though, if it's not too far from him. I got put on to the mechanic from my mates boss who go his ba turbo worked by him, as he was pretty decent and reasonably priced Haha thanks Henz
  5. Cheers BenDoCo! Was looking for a new thread Thanks for the detailed reply Henz! My mechanic said he wants to replace something on the turbo, can't remember what it was called but he said at higher power it isn't strong enough and ends up staying open or something. So not sure if that would increase the turbo limits or not There is probably not much point going e85 if I am at the limits of the stock turbo, but I will definitely get id1000s installed, thanks mate!!
  6. Yeh that would be great! I couldn't find the thread on it How much, does it come in black and also does the kit work with 4" turbo side intake? When do you think it will be available? So with the 4" intake, hi flow cat and stage 2 from ratter, xcal, tune and 60lb, injectors what kind of power can I expect? How much more would it be with id1000s? Does anybody know? Is it just a tune to suit e85 or do you need a new fuel pump and lines? How much difference would it make running on e85? And how does it run on it? Do you just change the tune to suit when you fill up or? Thanks!
  7. Yeh ok thanks for the heads up ratter! Think I'll just leave it be and put a stage 2 in! Haha! Yes the joys Is there much of a difference between process west and plazmaman? Or is nizpro better.. want it to be black though so that might be the deciding factor Looks like everything should be done by the week after next if everything goes to plan :D
  8. Is it the red or the blue circle that's not roadworthy? Would the stepped intercooler fit like this? Is this a part I can get that the mechanic can replace whilst putting the stepped intercooler in?? BenDoCo, Not sure if there is anything I can do now regarding previous owner.. Think I'll just have to get it fixed up myself!
  9. @ratter : looks like I was worrying for no reason! I took it down to the panel shop told him the situation, he had a look at it and said its perfectly fine. He said that its only plastic that has been cut and the main support just behind the bumper is still intact? He said its still roadworthy and yeah I will submit some pics just to make sure he knew what I was talking about. Now my only concern is will the stepped be able to be fitted with the plastic missing? In the pic 1/3 you can kind of see how the stock intercooler is mounted, using a kind of double bracket thing Hopefully they don't come out too large What do you guys reckon? Pretty sure it was a Nizpro cooler in there before.. not sure which model? SecaBoy, Thanks for the detailed post! Geez that's pretty good of them! Yeah true, what size is recommended? Also brand and cost? Would I be able to get much more power with the exhaust or is it more for sound? I think if I take it down to the track, that the exhaust would be more beneficial because of the heat 500hp seems to be a good goal, coming on nicely! I don't think it includes a tune, we haven't really spoken about pricing for tune more so just installing these parts. I better pay him a visit just to check that out! He was saying that he wants to change the stock actuator because he said the ones on it usually aren't strong enough Can get quite a bit more power with the turbo mod and full exhaust!
  10. yep no worries, what should I say to the inspector? Just that it's missing and why wasn't it pick up with your report? It's annoying as I had a private inspection also done.. full mechanical inc compression testing and full body and he didn't pick it up either
  11. Yeh plus I would feel more comfortable with insurance ect.. I just called the local panel repair shop and he said around 1000$ plus parts.. but he has to have a quick look first Vic
  12. Crap.. And there is no way I could go back to the inspector as it is out of date, correct? Ok, great I'll grab one in the next few weeks! Easy as, because my mechanic wanted a weld in one but this will be heaps better
  13. Pazzo, thanks! Yeah I saw that, would be the go if the support was still there My Rod Got Out, If I went E85, would I need to replace fuel lines and pump? or is it just the tune that is changed? Also can you change between E85 and 98? or are you stuck with E85? Just because I have noticed only a few servos sell it Ratter, I bought it recently, but the RWC ended on the 11th of July.. I didn't know to look for it and I guess the inspector didn't either. How much roughly would you say? What brand cat is it? And are they in stock? And its manual Looks one of the stage 2's would be better then.. Plazmaman or Process West?? Thanks for the help so far guys
  14. Thanks BenDoCo! This forum is a great help Yeah I was thinking it may be overkill.. But at the same time, if I end up going turbo upgrade and full/cat back exhaust it may come in handy going the larger one And the usual RRP of both ProcessWest intercoolers are identical.. so pricing difference between all three is about 400$ So getting the bar put in, to get the cheaper cooler may infact end up costing more.. Wish it was still in, would of made things ALOT easier haha! EDIT: Yeah I think I would have to get the bar put back in, I think that's where set of brackets are mounted
  15. Hey guys, finally saved up to start doing some mods! Its a manual series 1 FG xr6t. I am aiming to start at over 300rwkw with these mods, but may want to go higher after depending on how it feels. I want it looking as stock at possible (black intercooler ect.) and to stay reliable. I will be trying to occasionally get it on the drag strip and track after doing mods too, so want a half decent set up! My plans are 4" intake + battery relo kit (already got) 60lb injectors hi flow cat intercooler and piping xcal3 With the 60lb injectors and xcal, my mechanic said he can get it for 1100$ Does that sound reasonable? I'm not sure what brand injectors but yeah With the intercooler, I was planning on a stepped intercooler. But I didn't know the previous owner had already cut out the support bar to install an intercooler. Should I take it to a panel beater and get them to replace it? or should I just be happy that it is already remove and chuck in a big intercooler I would want the ProcessWest stage 1 in the group buy if I was getting it put back in. Or I would think ProcessWest stage 2 (complete kit) or plazmaman stage 2 kit, if leaving it out What would you guys do? I was reading on here that the venom cat seems to be the way to go. Are they any good? I mentioned it to my mechanic but he reckons they are no good. Also should I try and include a 4" dump? like the plazmaman one for $950? Thanks for any questions you may be able to answer!!
