Its times like these that I look at Swan and then wish the Christ we had Costello looking after the economy. Not a good time for any treasurer but I think the old dog in Costello would be far better equipped to manage it in a manner that provided the best possible outcome for all. I think a lot of people would have voted differently “IF” they knew this recession was around the corner.

Still A Rice Burner Not a bad effort for a young Fella now go out and do a 10 before you bother ringing me again :beerchug:

From what I am led to believe is that ZF offered Ford Aus the 8 speed for the same price as the 6 speed and Ford went for their own ZF copy from the USA. Ford have been hard on ZF in aus even to a point where they have recently stopped ZF selling the 6HP26 box to people like me who have accounts with ZF. Fords nut squeezing revolves around the fact that this box was made for Ford to suit the local Ford bell housing and as such the box’s should only be sold through ford outlets. Ford can’t stop us from buying parts as the parts fit many box’s but whole units is a different matter. Even information is limited due to Ford placing restrictions on who is allowed to see it. (try and buy a manual or even a parts book) When the contract expires I bet ZF let the whole lot out just to stick it up Fords nose. Personally I think its been the best transmission in any Aus car but obviously Ford think they can make a copy and cheaper????

The contract with ZF finishes in 2009/2010 and ZF are disappointed with Ford Australia. Apparently they/Ford will be using the 6 speed box they made in the USA (ZF Copy) ZF even put up the 8 speed to Ford and they declined so Go figure?????????????? Seeing the Inline 6 might now be continued I would hope that Ford Keep the ZF behind at least the high end models But only time will tell.

Engine Rebuild That Needs To Take Some Raping
F6_Tornado replied to Tocchi's topic in Engine Workshop
Buy a set of Good Rods & pistons and get the Block Torque plated and plateau hone. Heads are best left alone from what I've seen. Do it yourself apart from the machining. -
Im thinking maybe next Wednesday might be the go If you up your HP and ultimately MPH and ET I might not get another chance :spit:
-
DONT get toooooooooo Cocky or the Camel might just turn up at the plex and as u know its good to go a low 11 about now so be nice BTW the mph is a Girl :beerchug:

I must admit for a ricer it has some ballz and credit to you for building it yourself and working over the odd failure to obtain such a bloody good time. So much more rewarding the way you have archived this result. :beerchug:
-
You don't want me to bring the Camel Ben!!!!! Last time I beat you I only had 330rwks now its 375 so I think the rice burner might be OK off the line (if she stays together) but it could be embarrassing by half track :sleepystuff: PS No corners down the 1/4 hahahahahahahahahah

I'll Clear a spot in the workshop for whats left

Here is the mess from Phils old F6 that held the record for a std ZF and STD bottom end for a while @ 11.1 It went BANG in a big way this time taking out the intermediate shaft and Hub. Also the A planetary is rooted. Not nice and not cheap.
-
Some tuners seem to manipulate the torque tables better than others which helps that E pack big time but at the end of the day it’s way too small considering the power it takes.

Sorry to hear about the engine letting go and why it happened. An expensive lesson and one we all usually get worse luck.. I sure hope you will do better this time around and enjoy the beast. Greg

Thank Faaaaaark for that

The problem with Johny being in for so long is a lot of people like the younger ones have never seen, experienced or had to deal with other government parties and as such don’t know any better when they vote. Bit like the don’t know Sh!t from Clay! Why? Co’s they never tasted it! With our wonderful voting system we can let any uneducated moron vote for whoever they feel like.. Knowing jack sh!t about his credentials. A Good Car Salesman like the current PM wins a lot of votes… now we have to wait till all these people wake up and realize what they have done. Costello was not the most popular man alive but he knew his job and imho did it well.. Sadly I can’t say the same for Swan!!! In fact I think he would do better selling fish and chips. He would blend in with the seagulls.

Hi Adrian, Been a while mate!!! I had 330rwks with my BF Tornado with: Capa Box Walbro In Tank pump. Nizpro injectors 100’s I think from memory. 3.5” Dump and twin 3.5” METAL Cats onto a twin 3” All else STD Ran 11.8 @ 120mph Later I fitted a Cooler I got from the wog (BIG Mother) and although I have not run it down the plex since the last dyno was 375rwks so it’s making plenty with minimal mods. I can’t stress enough how important the exhaust is… Do that right and the power will come easily. Then save cos your trans will need some extra plates preferably before you burn them out.

Wasn't going to fast when I went for a drive with u Saturday hahahahhaa Did u sort out the Muffler? Lucky it didn't blow the guts out of your Turbo Seals

I think what Ben (F6 UTE) is saying is if you probed the temp of the air In the centre of the pipe and the external temp of the pipe there would be a huge difference. That being the case due to the velocity of the air travelling through the pipe the external pipe temperature would have little to no influence on the air travelling through it in such a small time frame. A bit like having a small intercooler!!!! The air volume does not stay within the cooler long enough for the temp to drop to a notable degree. However by utilising a larger Cooler that same volume of air will travel at a much lower velocity (through the cooler) allowing a greater period of time to allow Heat to exchange ultimately reducing the air temp. Once it leaves the Intercooler the piping does very little by way of heat absorbing due to the velocity of the Air within it.. What little effect it did would have minimal effect hence what he is saying above. However a large intercooler is what’s needed not cooler piping. Makes sense to me Ben!!!

A waste of time and money...Forget it and spend your money on something worthwhile. Water cooled Turbo keeps cooling long after the engine is switched off. The hotter the turbo is the more water boils off and is replaced by colder water. If it was a problem Ford wouldn’t sell a car without one.

Transmax Z is perfect for your 6 speed Manual T56 box. I used it in mine and it was great. I also use Transmax Z In my six speed Auto ZF as well and its been great ever since I got rid of the factory oil.

All depends on what you are most fearful of!!! For Multinova go the Valentine But it will be useless if they get banned in WA in the future. Bell STI and Escort 9500 are about the same and non detectable at present. But sit on your windscreen like the valentine. The STI Remote is bloody good and non detectable but costly. The Remote Escort 9500ci has the same head unit as the Bell STI but also has GPS and Laser shifters so one hell of a unit. The shifters can detect and/or Jam Laser if it’s set to Shifting. The best thing about this unit is its GPS and it uses it to store false alarms and blocks them out so you never get a false alarm from a petrol station or electric door once its setup. Also having GPS allows you to Mark locations and store them so next time your in that location it warns you. I’ve had and tried them all over the years and one of the best Multinova units was the 995 Bell. Did both narrow and wide KA.. Not sold in WA as most Bells sold here in recent years were Bell 990. Bell 65’s, and Now Bell STI’s.. Like all good things they have a short life as technology changes so it can be expensive keeping up with the latest units. But then again it’s expensive if you keep getting fined for 8km over the limit. To me it’s not a money thing it’s a cat and mouse. And I like to have the new toys. @ Turbotorana the mobile unit of choice now is usable in both Ka and K bands with most mobile units in WA using K band.. One of the reasons they use these units in the metro area now is it can pin point a speeding vehicle in amongst multiple vehicles. In front, behind or to the side or whatever. There is No X band used at all in WA for the last 5~10 years at least. -

Law abiding my A$$>>>> In WA they will book you for doing 106km/h in a 100 zone. 6km over the limit is a fine and most Speedos are only accurate to within 10% so go figure!! Change your tire type or manufacturer and its out again. 99% of Speedo’s are not correct yet we get booked for doing 6km over. I suppose you can drive around all day with your eyes glued to the Speedo watching out for any speed creep but hey who is going to watch the road then??? First these units are undetectable in Oz even to the Stalcar RDD’s Secondly they have Laser shifters which Jam laser if used correctly and are turned on. They also use GPS to mark locations and to eliminate false alarms so they are ever so quiet and not like anything else on the market that beeps all day bloody long at ever petrol station or electric door you pass by. You don’t need to a maniac hooning around the streets to “need” or use one of these. Next time your on your “Hands” free phone and you hang up ask yourself what speed were you doing whilst on the phone! I bet you can’t remember much at all about where you just drove and at what speed. I suppose due to them being Banned in all states except WA most people are anti then because simply they cant use them. I would have no hesitation using mine in any state of Australia as its non detectable and remote mounted so unless you stripped the car down you would never know it was there, even with a RDD. Not to mention they also alert you to Road works, Service vehicles such as Ambulance & Fire engines which gives you time to get the hell out of the way. The cops can hide behind tree’s, Walls, signs or anything they can to Trap you doing 6km over, even take your speed from obscure angles which is illegal and give the wrong speed, book you and they get away with it. Being a law abiding citizen I’m sure you would take it on the chin and pay it! This black duck will never go without one. -

Try This and it will answer your questions. I have one and its the best thing I ever bought!!! -
Check your ABS sensors on the wheels. The Speedo is done via Pulse width modulation via the ABS sensors not the gearbox like the old days. I unplugged mine once testing the stall and limp mode to see if I could get around it. Then when going for a drive with it disconnected No Speedo and the engine cuts out at higher revs as a safety function as it doesn’t know what speed your doing. Sounds like you have an intermittent loss of a sensor. Maybe unplug each one and spray some contact cleaner in each plug and see how it goes. Greg
