I’m sure some of these guyz like weasel mean well but somehow I think something has been lost in the translation. The bit about changing the oil will do more harm than leaving it is wishful thinking and as much as I wish it was true as it would save us all a squillion dollars on oil and parts it’s not going to happen. This bit amazes me a bit!! If the particles stay suspended in the oil and don’t get filtered the oil would become more abrasive and as such increase wear. The oil should provide a membrane between the moving parts to lubricate and cool them whilst reducing friction and as such heat. Clean oil without the suspended particles would have to be a 1000 times better and anyone who has had a ZF that has been playing up and then done a service the results amaze them at the new lease of like the box now has. Modern day oil is designed to keep partials in suspension for one reason and that is so they travel to the filter where they get filtered out. In the old days this was not the case and in engines for example when you took the sump off there would be 2” of sludge in the bottom. Oil does many things besides lubricate and two important things in a ZF are cooling with the ability of the oil to hold up when hot and the ability of the oil to reduce friction between the clutch plates when the clutch is “disengaged” The first thing you will notice when using genuine ZF oil with an increase in HP is its discoloration and the rapid rate in which the filter blocks. The first think you notice when changing to TransmxZ is the filter stays clean longer and the oil doesn’t discolor apart from some discoloration from the old oil if not flushed out. I think the biggest problem with tech people like BMW is they don’t see the HIGH HP wear and tear and are only dealing with low HP on Standard BMW’s and as such call it like they see it. We live in a HIGH HP world and in some cases double what the box was designed for and as such need to use different oils etc. A STD HP vehicle would probably be fine over its “lifetime” without an oil change but if you think you can wind it up and leave the oil in without regular changes then you deserve the bill for repair at the end of the day. I would say anything over 365rwks and hard driving would welcome a oil change @ 10k and if some hard track days or drags I’d even reduce that.

oop's I left a page out that might help ....Sorry 6HP26_Oil_Refill.pdf

This should solve a lot of confusion regarding Re-Fill procedure 6HP26_Oil_Refill.pdf

You’re on the money Senna…. These ZF’s only have a very shallow Pan and the oil level is quite low so it doesn’t take much for them to be incorrectly filled and suck a bit of Air when cold. REMEMBER it must also be checked running and don’t turn off the engine until the filler plug is back in or you will lose a heap of oil. Sealed for life is OK for STD application as is factory ZF oil but most people HERE run double the Factory torque rating so they require Better oil and servicing more frequently. I’m sure there is probably a better oil again than TransmaxZ but its been bloody good to me and many others when the trans was US and playing up on factory oil. I speak to the Tech Reps at ZF regularly and they are fully aware that I run Castrol oil and fully aware how much Torque we put through them and are amazed how good they take it.. They are proud of the box when I tell them what we have done. These Course are run by ZF and they go through the process as they would for any STD transmission….THEY DON’T cater for modified or increased Torque applications so take what you will from their course. No Different to Caterpillar saying you should only use CAT Filters and Oil. So many companies use this threat that you will Void warranty “IF” you use alternative Filter and Oil. However if the Said oil meets or Exceeds the factory recommendations then the don’t have a leg to stand on and must give you warranty (as long as engine is STD).. If you use some dodgy cheap oil that doesn’t meet or exceed their specifications then you’re dumb to begin with.

Farah Fawcett arrives in Heaven and God grants her one wish. Farah replied to God that her one wish before entering the Pearly Gates was that all the children in the World be safe. So God Killed Michael Jackson
-
First reports are incorrect, Michael Jackson did not die of a hart attack but he was found in the children’s Ward having a Stroke..

When you change from the Plastic type to the steel type you need to buy the 21 matching bolts to go with the Steel pan, as the bolts to fit the plastic sump are too long. 21 x 0736 010 347 Screw (ZF part number) some guys just cut a bit off the length of the original bolts and they are fine. There are no spacers used on the steel pan like the ones u have in your picture as the pan is steel. The spacers are to be used in the plastic pan to strengthen it where the bolt tensions.

at your rwks I would change oil and filter every 10,000km. even in doing so you will find it will slip at that hp unless u beef up your packs.

Sounds to me like an ABS problem as the Transmission has little to do with the Speedo as it’s the ABS that gives it the speed. The Transmission will be OK to swap out but I doubt it will fix the problem. Also the transmission is relying on the information from the ABS to determine wheel speed front and rear to ascertain when to change gear relevant to wheel speed and differential between front and rear such as driving in slippery conditions. If the ABS is corrupt then the transmission doesn't have a clue what to do and loss of ABS or abs sensors will bring on Trans limp mode

What a load of Frog sh*t!! Steph they used my workshop to do Toms car and what you have posted up is crap. I watched them remove the same dodgy head that had been on it for 2 years and failed twice. When it came back to WA and failed they (Tom & Nick) decided to strip it and make sure no other damage was done.. The engine was put back together by Nick and his offsider that came over with him. The Oil rings fell Off?????? Hahahahha maybe you should ring Tom and get the story straight before you mouth off. The crank would hardly Turn? If you like I can post up pictures of the bearings that came out…. Again crap… the head was the reason for disassembly. Excessive wear on crank journals????? Same crank is still in it!! It was decided by Tom to change the pistons out as the engine had twice now failed on #5 filling it with water. The reason why the head failed again was valve seat distortion when at operating temperature which stopped one inlet valve from seating on #5 Lastly for your Info Nick is planning to fly to Perth ASAP to finish the tune off. I’d suggest you keep your personal grievances with Nick private and not use Tom to piss off Nick! Tom is with me now whilst I am writing this and about to ring you.

GET IT SERVICED and if its out of warranty get Castrol Transmax Z put in it and a new filter.

Every tuner tunes differently and each one will have a different feel. You might like it one way from one tuner and I will like it another way from another tuner but that doesn’t mean the tuner is a dickhead. Some tuners are new and not had the experience that others have had so they can’t refine the tune as well are tickle it to suit you as an experienced tuner and I’m sure we can all understand that. Good tuners don’t fall out of tree’s ready to go and do a wonderful job on the first car they tune and I could tell you some stories about bad Tunes from ALL the top tuners in WA!!!! So getting on here and condemning them to me is a low form of self satisfaction that I must disagree with. How do you think these TOP tuners got to a stage where they are as good as they are now and charge as much as they do now? From starting somewhere and learning as they go. They will make mistakes and all the top tuners have made mistakes. For the Record Simon from XFT has been doing my tunes now for 5 years but I have had many others and know the differences between them and the way the car drives and feels. Simon started in his driveway at his home and he had many bag him about working from home and other issues but he is on top now but it wasn’t all plain sailing and people condemning young tuners like Simon was and this bloke having a go to me is wrong! The tuner in question here is a young bloke having a go and anyone who thinks he should be as good as someone like Simon from XTF or C&V who has done probably a thousand cars is on drugs because there is no substitute for experience. Give it a Rest!

Well done on that time Adrian Remember to service that Trans after a hard night at the plex or it wont last long. That power combined with those tires makes for some High Torque stress so be nice or we will be putting more disc's in it. Can I see a 10 soon?
-
Did you stick your boof head up the exhaust pipe? I bet she has blown the guts out of it again blocking it hence the no throttle etc etc like last time. Buy a MANS car
-
I'm sure with a little tweak here and there it will go a flat 11 nps.. MPH will help so more grunt needed. Your 60ft is good for a Ute so Tires are working well. Extra Power is no good until you get the technique down pat and as you can see from last night you picked up near a second with different tires and technique. Make a Plan and stick with it and Your there

Mid 11 is quite nice Adrian Congratulations.

Just means that the transmission has learnt to shift differently since it was sent in for its service as it learns to adapt to the way its been driven. So In short Your Ford dealer apprentices have possibly thrashed the sh*t out of it whilst they had it!!! hence the shift points being different now. Take a look at your fuel consumption and I bet it shot up also since the service. Happens all the time but you will have a hard time proving it unless you write down the speedo reading when you dropped it off including Fuel consumption data etc so as the back up your thoughts.

one of my dogs down the farm>> Taboo

Let’s say they won’t warrant it due to Oil change being Castrol! Before you take it to them for warranty dump the Castrol and fill it with genuine ZF oil…. That’s how silly it is. Besides that it will last twice as long with Castrol oil than it will with ZF oil. IMHO

We dont need you for the testing Actually a couple of extra's in E, A & B.

Adrian Me and Rob might need it till after the weekend as we have some trans testing to do on Friday night. :spit:
