I've only been defected once in my fg , I was running drag radials at the time.
Around my area they have a blitz every now and then . They set up an rbt and defect cars.
I got pulled over once at an rbt in my c-ommodore ute . I had two cartons of beer in the back . They didn't breath test me , they just defected my ute.
I think best bang for buck on the fg is 4inch dump and cat, intercooler , injectors , fuel pump , tuned on e85. Enough power for a low 11 and and no louder than standard one while driving normal.
If you lived in the suburbs you probably wouldnt need anymore than 350kw . My car ran 11.2 with 340kw .
But it all depends on the person. The acceleration in third when I had 340kw would put me to sleep now.
I have a fg auto and I think around 480 -500kw with the right sized turbo is good for the street .
I'm running a precision 6235 , 23 psi on e85 .
Nice mid range and top end .
Traction is mainly an issue from a standing start or when the tyres and road are cold.
Most of my driving is in 70 -110kmh zones so when I stand on it I'm usually in 3rd or 4th gear .
It's only when I shift to 4th gear I wish I had 600kw
+35 with a 275 40 17 sits nice , just clears the control blade and sits inside the guard.
I'd say at standard height +30 would still clear the guard but it would be getting close
I haven't got a photo of them on the car showing how much clearance. If you want I can put one wheel on the car this weekend and I will see how close +35 is to the guard ?
I had a search and found this thread , not much info in there but might be worth a look.
Will you be fitting drag radials to these wheels?
I haven't tried r888.
I was running 275 40 17 drag radial , maybe the r888s would work better on the street.
I still think boost by gear would be the best option
Haha thanks for the advice guys .
I'm well aware of throttle control and running better tyres but I'm after something more.
I can get the car away from a standing start at a good pace without a lot of wheelspin but I believe with a good boost controller the car would be quicker.
I'm after more traction on the street . I've been looking at the ams 2000 probably over kill for a street car . But if it gets the car down the road with minimal wheel spin it would be worth it.
Can anyone recommend a boost by gear/speed boost controller ?
Missed all the bike talk.
Main reason I bought my car and started modifying it was because I sold my r1.
A late model 1000cc sports bike would walk away from my car in a roll on.
Car has run 10.3
