  1. What happens if I win in both a GT and a Typhoon? That adds to 2 wins. Which car is faster?
  2. Excellent post Redhawk. Good to get a review from an unbiased GT owner.
  3. That's a great price for trade in. I got a quote for a mark 2 XR6 turbo recently and it was for about 44K. Maybe they are going to inflate the Typhoon price for you to make up for such a high trade in price.
  4. Interesting, I have also driven both the 6 speed GT 2 and Typhoon and I found the GT to be a quicker car and more lively car. This was one of the reasons why I bough the GT. I am wondering if you had driven the 6 speed GT or the auto. Either way, considering yours and other peoples comments, I am going back to ford to see if I can get another test drive of the Phoon. I could have possibly had a dud on the day. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hi Rexy, yeah you better go back and test drive the phoon again. Everyone who seems to have driven the phoon so far have praised the car more than that for the mk 2 GT. You seem to be the only one with negative comments for the Phoon. At least if you test drive it again you can confirm if the GT or Phoon is a better drive. Otherwise you might find yourself being restless while waiting for your GT, thinking about hypotheticals and stressing about if you got the best car for yourself.
  5. Not yet, I am still awaiting my lease company to provide me with the monthly figures so I can see if I can fit it into the budget. If this works out then I will be straight back at the dealer to place my order on a Rapid one. The salesman contacted me yesterday to advise they have registered the one I took for a drive and it will be their demo, so I think I am going to have to go back and have another go <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well hope all is OK. I think it should cost you about 22-24K per year with 50% residual and if you do 25,000kms. I couldn't sleep last night. Can't stop thinking about the typhoon experience yesterday.
  6. Mate, I might eat Rice but those stickers aren't for me. I'm a rice boy that had a VT Berlina, 200sx and now a Ford Typhoon. The only stickers that would look good on a falcon are the GT stickers. I've decided to leave those for the GT boys anyways. No mechanical mods until warranty expires.
  7. I've never driven a T however I've been in a passenger in an automatic one. However there was an obvious difference. The typhoon made more noise when you rev it and I can't recall hearing any idle noise from the T. It felt faster when I reved it and from my experience in the Auto T it was more smooth and tamed. Maybe I won't know untill I actually drive a manual T. Either way the manual T and Typhoon are great cars. If rice boys start appreciating them then it must be saying something. They rarely eat meat pies. However they like to drink VB's.
  8. Awesome Awesome Awesome!! Nothing compares from my experience to the typhoon today. I was expecting it to be a quiet car as it was not a V8... but even when the typhoon was idling there was a burble... not the same as the wrx but similar. Sounded grunty. 1st and 2nd gear.... awesome.. I reved it out and it went hard...... no turbo lag and there was Gforce which I was not expecting as I thought the torque curve was straight. And there was a lot of whistle/grunt noise when I did so. All that time test driving the traction control was on so I would wonder what it would be like if traction control was off. Awesome.... my 200sx does not compare. So much grunt from down low and all the time I test drove, 90% of the time I was in 2nd gear. Man 1st gear goes up to about 70km and 2nd gear can do over 100km/hr. You gotta experience to know what I mean. I ended up test driving an automatic V8 FPV GT. It didn't do it for me. It was great car but when you compare it to the phoon.... totally different. As soon as a sat in the gt for about 30 seconds I started getting a headache from the noise/vibration. It shakes a lot and feels really mean. It doesn't do it for me but I'm sure a lot of people would like it. Downside is the button. I hate the start button. No point turning the key and pressing the start button. Also cheap plastic interior doesn't do it for me. However with that grunt and driving experience these cons can be swept under the carpet. I love it. in the end I ended up buying it!!!! 1000 deposit thrown down.... I'm happy Good job to FPV. One rice boy(literally) converted to eating big meat pies. They had one silver Typhoon which was available for delivery but I didn't want it as I want something bright like Mandarine. Only downside is that if I got delivery before 2005 Ford will give 2 years extended warranty. Oh well. Guess I just have to wait for 2005 Typhoon in Mandarine. Anyone who wants immediate delivery let me know and I'll tell you the dealer. Got a great price in the end. 59450 drive away with: fpv steering wheel tow pack fpv matts That price was with a so called "fleet discount" which is not available for FPV range. I asked the dealer if he sold any FPV's to asians and he said I'm the first so FPV have done there job getting there vehicles into other ricey markets. Well done Ford.
  9. Citric Acid, Did you end up buying the typhoon in the end? I am going for a test drive in 40 minutes and probably will sign for one today if all goes well...
  10. That sounds a bit sus
  11. 2002 200sx ------->Typhoon
  12. I agree. They must have old grannies driving. No offence to any pops on this forum. I bought the wheels magazine yesterday and the review was very good on the Typhoon. It compared it to the charger and r34 GTR in one section. Quite a good review actually: "Maybe this new FPV will never be as exhilarating as the r34 to drive on the track, or as emotionally rewarding as the charger, but you can drive this baby all day and feel like you've had a lap session with thorpe." "If you had to own just one car from the awesome trio, FPV's F6 Typhoon is the pick. You can't discount it's enormous all round appeal." "The typhoon is undoubtedly the best car here, by miles" I wouldnt' be too concerned with the 6.3sec 0-100km/h published. I checked the STI 0-100km/h times at the back of the wheels mag and it was 5.9 secs. It's pretty common knowledge that STI is much faster than that.
  13. Congrats Chris! Awesome colour.
  14. Congrats mate. That colour is very nice. Looks really mean. Looking forward to your review.
  15. I will not be happy after spending 60K on a Typhoon and then seeing stock XR6 Turbo's drive straight past me.
  16. Damn You! You got me excited for a minute!
  17. Yeah.. I was looking forward to hearing more about peoples experience in a Typhoon. I finally booked a time with dealer for a test drive on Thursday
  18. This came from wheels mag which should explain the slow times: As a track surface 'rubbers up' (becomes impregnated with tyre rubber) it usually brings more grip, but not during our visit to Calder Park, VIC. Thick rubber from a recent drag meet killed any meaningful standing-start attempts, and our times reflect this. Getting grip of the line was impossible, and all cars turned their 'best' times with low-rev, zero wheelspin launches. However, look closely at the 80-100km/h times, where it's all about engine performance and gearing. The F6 Typhoon's weight and torque advantage combine with tighter gearing to smoke the V8's. It's decisively quicker in every gear we tested. And with good traction underneath, the Typhoon should also embarrass the V8's off the line.
  19. That is very disapointing. They look like quite conservative times though. HSV 6 seconds? Factory released times are like 5.1.
  20. more.
  21. Here's a couple of pictures of a black typhoon which was at the Ford vs Expensive Daewoo show in melb.
  22. I'm currently on novated lease. Chose it because I didn't want the inconvenience of making taxation deductions which involves keeping log book etc. Novated lease=no mess. You are financially better on either of these depending how much proportion of the km's you do are for business. If you find that you use it 90% of the time then purchase hire is probably the go. If you use it for like 20-30% for business like me then novated lease is the go as you are paying for the car using 100% of before tax income. I know heaps of people who got off leasing to go on purchase hire but they have to lie to the tax office as to how often they use the car for business to be better off. If I was you I would just get a novated lease and purchase hire estimate which would be more informative.
  23. You're right there Dazza. That car was so fun to drive. It sticks to the road like glue even if you decide to flaw it when turning at the intersection. Throw some water on the road and you have to drive like a slug unless you want to hit a pole. That car even though it is slower than the T felt faster. The T I went in was so smooth and it didn't feel fast. If you don't mind sacrificing your comfort and space then the 200 would be a good one to buy. That's the reason why I sold it. Having both would probably be ideal but who's got that luxury?
  24. I just sold my australian delivered 2002 S15 200sx. They are fast cars if you can launch them as their is so much turbo lag. It kicks in at about 3000 rpms. However when you turn air con on or if the weather is a bit warm or if you add a passenger they are slugs. I don't think you will have a problem beating one of them in your T. I.e. stock vs stock. S15's 0-100km done in normally 6.3-6.6 seconds. I think T's are like 5.9 or the like. I managed to pull 6 seconds only after adding a zorst to it. The japanese version of the 200sx 'silvia' has a bigger turbo so they will give you a run for your money. From memory they are like 187kw whilst the aussie ones are 147kw. Next car is typhoon so it better be worth it.
  25. I'd like to compare the times for MOTOR tested LS2 and phoon before I can say which car will be faster. I'm not interested in what HSV and Ford have supplied because who knows what their intentions are.
